Music Lives Here

Not so long ago, Justin Timberlake told a radio interviewer that he would not do a Las Vegas residency, likening it to “planning your retirement.”

While I truly respect Timberlake’s talents as a performer, I have to slightly question his perception of the Las Vegas entertainment scene. Some of the industry’s hottest acts currently have residencies here; I can almost guarantee that the last thing on most of these acts’ minds is a 401(k).

Case in point: Maroon 5, which returns to its ultra-successful run at Dolby Live at Park MGM (“Sharing Memories,” p. 32). Adam Levine and company continue to produce music (more is hinted to be out this year), and show no signs of slowing down whatsoever.

On a related note, while its members are defi nitely not spring chickens, Kool & The Gang, which is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year, is enjoying its own successful run at Westgate Las Vegas (“The Beats Go On,” p. 22). Go and experience this show and tell me if it feels like these guys are anywhere close to a retirement home!

Speaking of great veteran bands, Iron Maiden pays a visit to Mandalay Bay this week (“The Sound Never Stops,” p. 36 ). How old are these musicians? Do you seriously think their fans care?

Get Down at the Party of All Parties

Dancing, dining, drinking and all the disco you can handle

Right now, immersive experiences are all the rage, transporting you from your own reality to one of pure imagination and entertainment. And Spiegelworld (creators of famed Las Vegas shows Absinthe and Atomic Saloon Show) just opened the doors to one of the most unique immersive experiences on the Strip—DiscoShow at The Linq Hotel. When you step through the glittery, mirrored doors of DiscoShow you enter the gritty and fabulous streets of New York City á la the 1970s. You’ll come across the subway platform at 99 Prince Street, where you can grab a specialty cocktail whipped up by master mixologists. Climb the stairs to the Glitterloft, a re-creation of an actual industrial artist space called The Loft, which was home to what is considered the first underground house parties. It’s here that you’ll enjoy a living room-type space with another bar and double doors that open to DiscoShow, contained in a huge space (warning: no chairs) that hosts the 70-minute dance party with all the disco tunes you can sweat to.

The cast of characters that lead the party are a mix of dancers, roller skaters and a drag queen named Mother. During

the “show,” you’ll learn four different types of disco dance moves and you’ll try out your new grooves as the floor beneath you lights up and strobe lights and LED graphics lend a stunning nightclub vibe. To reiterate, this is a non-traditional Las Vegas show—think of it as more of a party you’ve been invited to where you can let loose and show off your moves. Again, immersive is the name of the game at DiscoShow—you are a part of the show.

The immersive engagement continues with Diner Ross, located under a neon sign through a door off the Glitterloft space. The restaurant transports guests again back to ’70s New York with kitschy décor, cozy booths, period pieces and a classic American diner menu.

Guests are encouraged to explore the entire space, pre- or postshow, and we highly recommend it, too. DiscoShow is filled with so many cool experiences and immersive features, one would be remiss not to dive into this fantastical world where disco and the culture it cultivated is brought back to life. –Kiko Miyasato

Nothing Better

Find all your favorites at this excellent

eatery

I met Barry S. Dakake on my very first assignment for Las Vegas Magazine back in 2015—a dinner at N9NE Steakhouse at Palms. The second that Barry came out to shake my hand and introduce himself, I felt like one of his closest friends. He sat down at my table, and we discussed everything from his philosophies on cooking to our families. The man had a way about him that made me feel special. Oh, and his food rocked! He even brought out a few things that weren’t on his menu, all of which blew me away.

And that’s about what you can expect at his newest restaurant, Barry’s Downtown Prime at Circa Resort & Casino. Yes, there’s a menu, and it’s packed with deliciousness, but Dakake’s sense of adventure is alive and well here. As he explained to Las Vegas Magazine upon opening in 2020, “If you come into my restaurant and you can’t find something that you like, shame on me! And, if you can’t find it, you can ask and I can make it!”

Appetizers are a must at Barry’s, with a wild combination of flavors in delights like a bone marrow luge atop a bed of fettuccine Alfredo topped with Parmigiano Reggiano, truffle butter and Madeira wine. If you want to keep the beef theme going, it doesn’t get much better—or eye-catching—than the 46-ounce Mishima Reserve tomahawk ribeye, sourced from Mishima Reserve Farms in Seattle. This baby will serve the entire table, and don’t forget to add on sides like George’s Cream Corn (named after then-Palms owner George Maloof when Dakake worked at Palms), tater tots topped with aged cheddar cheese, crispy bacon and scallions, and whole Maine lobster mac ’n’ cheese, served in a hollowed-out lobster tail.

If you’re more of a seafood fan, the Dover sole is a treat for both the eyes and tastebuds. And the organic fire chicken, accompanied by sliced red Fresno chilis, jalapeños, lemon and rosemary au jus, is rich and delicious, and one of the best versions in all of downtown. –Ken Miller Circa

Get Away From It All

Exclusive resort offers a relaxing vacation

Death Valley doesn’t make you immediately think of pampering and relaxation. But make one visit to The Oasis at Death Valley, and you’ll quickly rethink that notion. With the hustle and bustle on the Las Vegas Strip, you can’t deny that the prospect of not having to fight crowds is extremely attractive, and at this resort complex, that’s exactly what you’ll experience—with all the amenities you would enjoy elsewhere.

The 66-room, AAA Four-Diamond Inn at Death Valley, built in 1927, and

the Ranch at Death Valley were recently renovated at a cost of $250 million in 2018, offering a spring-fed pool with bordering café and cabanas; the Tranquility Spa; a fine-dining restaurant and cocktail lounge; a gift shop; and the Borax Museum. To beat the heat, explore the nearby park and Mission Gardens in early morning and evening.

The Inn at Death Valley also recently added 22 private, one-bedroom casitas for a whole new level of accommodation. Throughout this gorgeous property you’ll

discover Western art, shaded terraces and views of the Panamint Mountains.

Adding to all this is nearby Furnace Creek Golf Course, the world’s lowest-elevation course at 214 feet below sea level. This 18-hole, par-70 course is framed with palm and tamarisk trees and ranked as one of America’s toughest courses by Golf Digest. What are you waiting for? Death Valley awaits. –Ken Miller

Daydream Believers

Free-range fantasyland gives adventurers room to roam

The Particle Ink venue, right by the top of the Atrium level escalators inside Luxor, quickly gained a reputation for being a can’t-miss experience on the Strip for fans of next-level entertainment. The immersive House of Shattered Prisms evening show combines puppetry, contortion and dance artistry, surreal and expressionist scenic design and hands-on experiences threaded together with a loose narration that follows the hero’s journey of an animated figure named Particle.

If you’d rather explore the Particle Ink universe in a more free-range fashion, the venue opens at 10 a.m. for Wanderlust. Using your phone or a provided iPad, you can embark on an hourslong journey. (There’s also a scavenger hunt option available to help in the exploration.)

A vestibule that leads to Particle Ink’s maze of rooms is both an introduction to the design motif and characters brought to life inside. Particle (“the sun and the son of Luminkind”) is joined by an animated cast that includes Feather, daughter of Captain Quad Majestus and devotee of the Sisterhood of the Lightknife, and Ferrous, a gentle giant and security guard to the Bib-leo-teks cave, who eats broken toys.

High Priestess Photon and elephantine Lord Snipette also await beyond the curtain of smoke that leads to a hallway where cans of luminous spray paint enable spontaneous wall tagging with glowing graffiti. A room on the right contains “lumicorns,” hand-held horns that can shoot at less-desirable animated figures moving across a wall.

It also contains one of the blue lights that indicate a scavenger hunt item is available via a downloadable app. Point a smart phone or tablet at the figure the light points at and an animation comes to life on the screen, with some furtherance of Particle’s narrative. It enhances the journey without detracting from the Luminkind habitat.

Particle and the overall atmosphere are somewhat reminiscent of the works of artist Keith Haring and illustrator Ralph Steadman. The latter created the design and cartoons for Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but there’s nothing to fear during a family-friendly Wanderlust visit. The innocence inherent in Haring’s character creations is similarly present in Particle and the gang. –Matt Kelemen

History and Entertainment Come Together

Landmark featured in movies and games serves up great fare

Have you seen Cheech and Chong’s Things Are Tough All Over ? How about Five Finger Death Punch’s music video for “Blue on Black”? Or have you played the video game Fallout: New Vegas? If the answer is yes to any of the above, chances are you’ve seen Pioneer Saloon

The 111-year-old historical landmark that sits just outside the Las Vegas Valley is chock-full of history, lore and fantastic food and bev offerings.

“To me the bullet holes are the No. 1 most famous thing that we’re known for,

so you have to see that,” owner Stephen “Old Man Liver” Staats said. “But then I always tell people, ‘Just come to the dining room and check out all four walls and you’ll get a good history of the place and different versions of it.’”

Those bullet holes Staats speaks of came from a poker game gone awry that ended in murder, and you can actually still sit at the poker table to enjoy a meal and beer while you take in the memorabilia.

Speaking of food, Pioneer Saloon is known for its burgers. One in particular,

the World-Famous Ghost Burger, features the bar’s well-known Ghost Sauce, a recipe kept so secret that no one person knows the entire process, according to Staats.

Make sure you enjoy your food with an Old Man Liver Busty Blonde Golden Ale or a cocktail made with Old Man Liver American Whiskey. –Em Jurbala

The Beats Go On

Funk legends fire up the stage for fans in Vegas

Kool & the Gang songs were more than just hits. The jazz-influenced funk outfit run by brothers Ronald and Robert Bell wanted audiences to “Jungle Boogie” and “Get Down On It.” They captured scenes in upbeat dance songs in the groove of “Ladies Night,” encapsulated exuberance in “Celebration” and influenced listeners to “Cherish” the lives they lived.

Kool & the Gang’s Las Vegas residency helps keep their legacy alive, with Robert “Kool” Bell leading the

band through the aforementioned hits plus chart classics like “Joanna” and “Too Hot.” While music director Ronald passed in 2020 and drummer George Brown died last September, their energy can still be felt.

Brown produced the last Kool & the Gang album, People Just Want to Have Fun, before he retired in August 2023. He would not live to attend Kool & the Gang’s induction ceremony into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this October, but he was well aware of his role

in the band becoming the most sampled in hip-hop history. Public Enemy, Ice Cube, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince are just a few of the countless acts that borrowed Brown’s beats. Kool & the Gang became pre-eminent architects of ’70s funk while laying the foundation for all beat-driven culture to subsequently build on, and the beats go on. –Matt Kelemen

It’s the perfect time of year to visit a cigar bar

Last week, fall arrived. While warmer temps might persist here and there in Las Vegas, we still say it’s time to celebrate the new season, and light up a cigar and pair it with a cocktail. Cigar season is here, folks, and we’re here to give you the lowdown on where to enjoy.

Eight Lounge at Resorts World Las Vegas is everything sexy and slick you’d want in a cigar lounge, from the décor to the bar and the outdoor lounge. Start the season off right with a killer cigar and cocktail pairing, the new H99 Toro cigar from Liga Privada paired with the

Old Pal cocktail, a blend of Knob Creek rye, Dolin dry vermouth and Campari. “It’s a great, medium-bodied cigar that often gets overlooked because it’s the newest blend of the Liga Privada line,” says Ian Floranza, general manager of Eight Lounge. “Once guests give it a try, they love it. … (They) pair very well with each other giving each enough contrast to enjoy both the drink and cigar.”

Eight’s cigar selection is impressive, with brands including rare and standout choices like My Father & Tatuaje La Union, 50th Anniversary Padrón, the limited production Montecristo Espada Signature, the $6,000 Gurkha Maharaja, Chinese zodiac cigars from various brands and a new cigar that Floranza is especially excited about, the Year of the Snake Plasencia cigar. Eight’s cigar aficionados are all well-versed in every cigar for sale and love to take a deep dive into guests’ preferences to put together a specially curated cigar and spirit pairing.

If you happen to find yourself at Caesars Palace or Paris Las Vegas, stop into Montecristo Cigar Bar.

Each offers its own vibe, and here we highlight the newly opened location at Paris. The Parisian setting gives off an air of an elegant European smoking lounge. Try the Sparrow’s Edge cocktail with Diplomático rum, Amaro Averna liqueur, Domaine de Canton, orange bitters, lemon and a smoked top paired with the Espada by Montecristo cigar. The cocktail blends sweet, sour and bitter with oak and vanilla notes while the cigar has notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee and spices. “A cigar aficionado manager is available to provide insight and help guests select the best cigar for their palate,” says Roy Angeles, Montecristo Cigar Bar manager. “… All team members have vast knowledge and experience and are happy to assist guests with cigar and drink pairings.” Guests also have the chance to snag the La Flor Dominicana Salomon Unico cigar, a cigar specifically made for the property. Very similar to the popular Andalusian Bull cigar from the brand, this medium-bodied version has a slight spice throughout and is stamped with the Eiffel Tower. –Kiko Miyasato

Born to be a bartender

One could say that bartender Vincent Soranno was born into the Las Vegas industry. He was born and raised in the city, both his mother and father worked in casinos (and still do today), and his brother is also a bartender at a Strip property. “‘Why don’t you try getting into the bar industry, because it would suit your personality’, my parents told me,” Soranno says. “And so, I decided to give it a try. Now, I honestly can’t see myself doing anything else in Vegas.”

After working as a bar apprentice for a few years, he moved over to SAHARA Las Vegas last year and landed a bartending position at the property’s popular eatery and sports-watching haven, Chickie’s & Pete’s Crabhouse & Sports Bar. “We have elevated bar food, plus all the kinds of seafood you can think of,” he says.

Think about grabbing a bite up at Soranno’s bar to enjoy his hospitality. “I kind of feel that hospitality was a calling in a way,” he says. “I’m the outgoing, crazy

Crossroads Kitchen serves beauty alongside sustenance

If you are looking for an elegant evening, heading to Crossroads Kitchen is an excellent idea. The beautifully appointed dining room is accented by a lovely bar and a soaring column housing wine in the curving dining area. At the rear is a lovely private dining area with multiple double doors beckoning you inside.

Grab a seat at the bar to wait for your table, if you can snag a chair; it’s a bustling scene in the evenings as delicious cocktails and wine issue from the mixologists here. The happy

hour libations at this vegan restaurant are particularly delectable, and at an excellent price—try the Sweet Leaf, made with your choice of gin or vodka, Chareau (a plant-based spirit made of aloe vera) and cucumber syrup, which plays off the Chareau, which has a cucumber vibe.

At the table, start with a signature appetizer such as the calamari fritti, a vegan version of calamari that appears like traditional calamari (it’s actually mushroom, served with lemon and a spicy diablo sauce). Stuffed zucchini blossoms are filled with a cheese that you wouldn’t suspect wasn’t dairy, while Impossible meatballs come with a rich marinara and nondairy ricotta. The roasted mushroom tart will

really sharpen your appetite for the next course—shimeji mushrooms and caramelized onions are popped onto a crispy phyllo base with Boursin cheese and a bordelaise sauce—doesn’t that sound incredible?

There are a number of salads to choose from as well. Carrie Underwood Reflection summer salad is a favorite of the resident star, with heirloom tomatoes and peaches accented by red onion, mint and a sherry vinaigrette. If you are partial to a wedge salad, the vegan version here is delicious, with

Roasted mushroom tart

Umaro bacon and a house-made bleu cheese dressing.

Entrées include options like eggplant fi let with mashed potatoes and a mushroom bordelaise, a meaty-looking version with a huge punch of flavor. Similarly, the grilled lion’s mane steak has a very wild look and texture, also with mushroom bordelaise. It’s served with signature tru e potatoes, slices with fresh shaved Parmesan and thyme— so fragrant. Another side dish that is worth every penny is the roasted Japanese eggplant. Those slender boats are accented with lemon yogurt, cherry-harissa chutney and mint.

And what is a visit to a fancy restaurant without an equally fancy dessert? The coconut-apricot petit gateau is quite lovely. Dig through this sweet treat with care, as it seems a bit sad to destroy such beauty willy-nilly.

If you are thinking about a brunch visit, Crossroads Kitchen’s Sunday brunch bu et may seem made to order. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., enjoy overnight oats, parfaits, cheeses and breads, salads and fruit. But that’s just your fi rst plate—sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, French toast and pancakes plus a live pasta station. And yes, there’s a dessert station, too.

Of course not, because the band that’s brought you hit after hit throughout a career that’s lasted more than two decades knows just how to produce tunes so delightful that you’ve got to play them over and over again. Knowledge abounds at the thought-provoking REAL BODIES at Horseshoe Las Vegas

What’s something you spend every day in, yet rarely see the inside of? Better yet, what do you touch and operate every day without fully understanding its components? It’s your body, of course! After all, we’re all just a bunch of brains controlling very complex fleshy puppets when you really think about it, and the more you ponder your own body, the more wonder you’ll find.

Admittedly, it would be entirely cruel to bring to the forefront of your mind what a marvel the human form is without o ering a convenient, educational attraction that might aid you in your newest quest for information. Good thing REAL BODIES at Horseshoe Las Vegas has been giving visitors an extensive look into our anatomy for more than eight years, and continues to provide an informative, scientific look at skin, bone, muscle and everything in between.

Most known for its considerable collection of preserved human remains, this exhibit takes you through just about anything you can think of relating to the body, be it straightforward anatomical information, anthropological studies or medical technology. You’ll find about 20 fullsize preserved bodies dissected in various ways to demonstrate lessons about the digestive and respiratory

systems, muscular and skeletal structures and much more. Additionally, more than 200 specimens o er insight into the toll disease takes on the body, the complex webs of veins that move blood throughout the body, and even nerve networks that allow us to feel from inside ourselves and the world around us. Each preserved sample has undergone the process of polymer preservation—a common practice in which water and soluble fats are removed from the body with acetone and then replaced by liquid polymer.

At this point, it’s possible you’ve thought to yourself, “Whoa!” And honestly, if you have, we can’t blame you. This attraction is not for the faint of heart. Beyond housing many, many, many human specimens, visitors can expect to confront their own mortality.

You’ll learn all about the behaviors and habits that reduce the number of years you may get with your body and discover various cultural rituals surrounding the end of one’s life. Luckily, there’s also a wealth of uplifting sections for you to explore. Particularly astounding, the “Love” section of

the exhibit explores how we connect with others, both emotionally and physiologically, and gives some insight as to why humans tend to seek love. There’s even a heart wall covered with locks symbolizing various couples’ commitment to each other. (Book the Love Room package to add your own lock.)

Speaking of love, if you’re feeling particularly moved by the display (or if you’ve fallen in love), you can book a proposal package or your whole wedding here!

Other neat o erings like the virtual reality package and the souvenir package ensure just about anyone has a fulfilling experience when they visit REAL BODIES. Families can even book a combo pack that o ers a little relief for the wallet.

Godfathers of heavy metal Iron Maiden make music for the Vegas masses

Some bands become so successful that they become emblematic of the style, genre or era of music they represent. They become institutions able to book tours decades into a career, drawing the masses out to celebrate the anthems of their youths. It’s even better if the bands retain key members who are in good playing shape or, as

with Iron Maiden’s case, an entire golden era lineup.

Iron Maiden is the proud godfather of heavy metal, an inarguable influence on every metal band that formed in the wake of its early ’80s success. London-based bassist Steve Harris had no idea of the gift he was giving to the world when on Christmas Day 1975 he formed what would become Iron Maiden, but he knew what he wanted from fellow musicians.

Guitarist Dave Murray, a Stratocaster devotee with a blazing but smooth lead style, was the first musician to make it past the revolving door of band members. He was followed by vocalist Paul Di’Anno and guitarist Adrian Smith, whose playing complemented Murray’s and was more emotive and blues-influenced. The band was led by Harris and his galloping bass, but the sound would be most recognizable for twin-lead prowess.

That sound was established on Iron Maiden’s eponymous debut album and follow-up Killers, but Di’Anno was burned out by the time Iron Maiden’s popularity became arena-sized. The band needed someone whose charisma and energy could fill increasingly larger spaces. Enter Bruce Dickinson, who

could sing louder and thrashed around stages with athletic energy.

Already one of the first metal bands to appear on MTV, Iron Maiden’s 1982 album The Number of the Beast helped the band conquer America with “Run to the Hills” and the title track. The British rock press referred to Maiden and peers as “The new wave of British heavy metal,” while the music rolled across America and then the world.

Drummer Clive Burr, who passed in 2013 after a battle with multiple sclerosis, was replaced by Nicko McBrain before the recording of 1983 album Piece of Mind. The third golden

era lineup was in place, the one that played on 1984’s Powerslave and toured behind the Iron Curtain. Janick Gers would replace Smith during the ’90s, but stayed after Smith returned in ’99.

While Iron Maiden’s status waxed and waned with the fortunes of heavy metal, the fans continued to fill venues tour after tour. Harris kept the band going during the ’90s after Dickinson departed, but the singer returned along with Smith as the band marched toward its elder statesmen era. They became the Rolling Stones of metal, with future tour successes assured.

The impact Iron Maiden has had on

all heavy metal bands formed in the wake of its success is inestimable. The band added punk energy to twin-guitar heavy metal, then moved in a progressive direction that influenced compositional styles of the generations of bands that followed in its wake. Maiden outlasted nearly all of them, and still delivers the goods in a stage show complete with iconic mascot Eddie the Head incorporated into state-of-the-art stage design.

Colin Cloud brings his mind-melting intuition to Las Vegas

So Shin and I, we’ve been here for five years; the anniversary has just passed. But with my own show, I had performed solo at the Edinburgh festival since I was 18 years old and always loved the challenge of writing my own event and sharing that with people. As much as I love being with Shin, having been here and fallen in love with the city—and this city feels like Edinburgh festival but 365 days of the year—to be able to then have that opportunity, that platform to be able to share the best of all my work, I just felt like now was the time. It’s one thing to be a skilled mentalist, it’s a be older and be more confident, no one knows who I am. I got into stand-up comedy because I realized comedians are really good at being Sherlock Holmes in that they observe the world differently. I think the No. 1 human fear is public speaking, but they are able to be relaxed, share that view of the world, but they’re also able to pick up things for real in that environment, and I thought, “This is amazing,” and I realized the only way to learn that skill was to go actually do stand-up comedy and force myself. Having been here for five years, you’re basically a local at this point. What’s your favorite local spot? I love the Arts District. I only really discovered it when I moved more to that (area)... You know, Esther’s Kitchen, Makers & Finders, Cornish Pasty Co. It feels like this little hub away from the Strip, the intensity of the Strip, that just feels like a more local, chill hangout area and, as an introvert at heart, I just love how much calmer it feels compared to the lights, the noise, the glitz and glamour of the strip. What made the Harrah’s Cabaret the perfect room for you? When I do test shows, it’s usually

Mentalist Colin Cloud, who refers to himself as “the real-life Sherlock Holmes,” has been on the Vegas stage as illusionist Shin Lim’s right-hand man at The Mirage for more than five years, but now has a show of his own, Colin Cloud: Mastermind , at Harrah’s Las Vegas.

You’ve been in Vegas with Shin Lim for a while. What pushed you to finally create your own show?

100-seater rooms and I turn up there and I love the connection I have with everyone. It feels like you know each other. Everyone leaves having created this thing together, so I didn’t want to lose that … The layout of this room, the combination of cabaret and comedy club vibe, it just kind of fi ts me perfectly, and I just thought if I’m going to come here and start my own Vegas career, I want it to be in this room.

completely other thing to command a room. Where does that ability come from?

As a kid I was very shy, reserved, introverted; hated, in class, having to stand up and speak. I hated it; I would be sick for days thinking about it and then I went to university quite young. I was 15 and I realized no one knows that. I can pretend to

AVOID THE FIGHT that’s sure to come when it’s time to choose where to eat. No tussles over sushi or barbecue, noodles or duck; when you eat at Famous Foods Street Eats, you can have it all.

The 24,000-square-foot Resorts World Las Vegas food hall opened with the property in 2021 and helped solidify a burgeoning food hall scene in Las Vegas. Famous Foods is set o with a cobblestoned “street” leading along an expansive, loose U-shaped area, with the stalls ranged up and down the U, and across from it, near the casino. A wall of windows opposite allows natural light to pour into the hall across multiple seating areas.

The food hall channels street cuisines from across the globe, with an emphasis on Asian cuisine, from Chinese to Malaysian. Many menus were

designed by established names in the global food arena, from Bib Gourmand and Michelin Plate concepts to James Beard Award-winning chef Marcus Samuelsson. Since opening, several new food experiences have been added to the hall.

For cocktails, in the very center is the circular Famous Foods Center

There’s also a speakeasy, Here Kitty Kitty Vice Den, in the form of a gift shop with a hidden entrance to the nightlife venue. Plus, di erent drinks are available at multiple stalls.

Some of the more celebrated o erings include Kuru Kuru Pa from DJ Steve Aoki and his restaurateur brother Kevin Aoki (the Aokis’ father was behind the creation of Benihana). This Japanese, anime-inspired stall features a Snake River Farms wagyu bowl, kimchi, and the Chibi chicken bowl. At Nori Bar Sushi, Sake & Handroll, there’s a long sushi bar providing plenty of seating, with made-to-order handrolls and sashimi. You can also order sakes, matcha, seasonal tea and Japanese beer. One of the best things are the roll sets, starting at only $23. What else? There’s so much, like Boon Tong Kee. You’ll find decades-old recipe Singapore chicken rice, with chicken on a bed of flavorful chicken broth-infused rice. Googgle Man’s Char Kuey Teow serves up egg and rice noodles stir-fried with seafood and vegetables on charcoal-fired stoves. At Han’s Fish & Chips, you can get a plate of the traditional U.K. dishes with cod or haddock and fries, or get it tucked in a bun. And yes, malt vinegar comes with it.

Geylang Claypot Rice is a decades-old Singaporean restaurant that has earned a Michelin Plate award. You’ll find beef and chicken options, with ingredients like salted cod, preserved cabbage, poached eggs and more, plus a vegetarian one, too, with maitake mushrooms, peppers and onion yu choy and a vegan oyster sauce. Want more? Hara Juku Ramen features the Build-A-Ramen with basic broth and noodles. Choose from a list of classic and inventive ramen addins. Wu Zhang Artisan Noodles has hand-pulled thin noodles with minced pork gravy, while next door at Ah Chun Shandong Dumpling (a 2020 Bib Gormand choice), get jiaozi dumplings, and pan-fried bao. There’s a vegetarian option, here, too.

If you feel like eating a little healthier, stop bythe new Salad Jack’s, where you can find ready-to-go versions like the chopped salad or Jack’s Seasonal salad—or create your own.

A little farther back in the food court is the large circular dessert

stall, Sweet Eats, with an enormous illuminated lucky cat floating overhead. Depending on the day, you’ll find flavored ice, cakes, and custom-dipped candy apples. It’s the perfect ending to a meal, or, even better, perfect all on its own.
