A Beautiful Escape

From lunch through dinner, find dishes that will transport you at this Italian restaurant

For a trip to Italy, look no further than Brezza in Resorts World Las Vegas, where you’ll find menus full of dishes inspired by the bounty of Italy. Brezza offers several menus to choose from, depending on the time of day, so whether you’re in for lunch, a midafternoon snack or a leisurely dinner, you are in luck.

Lunches here feature some dishes that are also on the dinner menu, such as the heirloom caprese with buffalo mozzarella and pesto (a Brezza fan favorite); lumache Bolognese, with a beef, pork and veal ragu; and the cappellacci oreganata with cauliflower and spinach. However, there are plenty that are only available at lunch, including margherita, pepperoni, and sausage and pepper pizzas, plus a chicken Milanese sandwich—and a 10-ounce Creekstone Farms skirt steak. You’ll find a variety of both alcoholic and nonalcoholic options.

In between lunch and dinner, you’ll find the cicchetti menu (Venetian small bites), with snacks like marinated olives, farmer’s market pickled vegetables, crispy pork skin, marinated mussels and more. That and a nice drink will see you over to dinner for sure.

Speaking of drinks, start your evening off with an Italian beer or one of Brezza’s inventive cocktails, like the barrel-aged Negroni (pictured) or a nonalcoholic Arancia spritz with Lyre’s Italian orange. Then you can catch that Italian train with veal Parmesan, herb tagliatelle, a chef’s salumi and Italian cheese plate, and other goodies. The raw bar features such items as Taylor Bay scallops, abalone, oysters and tuna tartare. Entrées include a good variety, so enjoy braised pork shank or braised short rib, plus whole fish prepared tableside.

You can also check out the steaks here, a specialty of the house, with such items as chef/owner Nicole Brisson’s dry-aged cuts taking a starring role. Brisson recently announced her own specialty aging program, Bistecca di Brisson, so locals can enjoy her hard work at home.

Cap all that goodness off with a dessert like the Olio lemon verde tart, also a specialty of the house, and a dessert wine. It’s certainly a perfect ending! –Nina King

Ride Into the Age of Entertainment

This family-friendly, medieval-themed show has been enthralling generations for more than 30 years

The minute families land at Harry Reid International Airport for their weeklong vacation, there’s one show that’s always on their list: Tournament of Kings, easily the longest-lasting family-friendly show on the entire Las Vegas Strip, and for good reason: It checks all the boxes. Not only is it a highly polished production full of hand-to-hand combat, jousting and fire-spewing effects, it’s also full of audience participation and topped off with a delicious meal you eat with your hands.

Set in medieval times around the era of King Arthur and the Round Table, TOK ’s arena features several separate seating sections, each a specific color and representing a specific country, in this case Austria, France, Hungary, Ireland, Sweden, Spain and Romania. Each country corresponds with a “knight” from that country, and depending on which section you are seated in, you then root for that specific competitor. You’ll be surprised how much you get into this aspect of the show, complete with hoisting your tankard and shouting, “Huzzah!”

To get a sense of how much effort goes into each TOK show, consider these numbers:

• 15 million-plus: Number of Cornish game hens served to guests

over the show’s 30-plus-year history.

• 75,000: Cubic feet of wood shavings used each year inside the venue’s horse stables, ensuring each equine is as comfortable as possible (all the horses live on-property in 19 stalls).

• 150: Weight in tons of hay consumed by the show’s horses each year.

• 50: Weight in tons of soil added to the Tournament of Kings arena every year.

• 47: Number of people who are responsible for bringing each and every performance to vivid life (20 crew including audio, pyrotechnic, lighting, wardrobe and stage technicians, and 27 cast members including King Arthur, Merlin, riders, fighters and dancers).

• 20: Battle props used during each performance (13 swords, four short swords, two ball and chains, and one axe).

• Six: Lance tips sheared off during jousting in each performance. More than anything else, TOK taps into the spirit that makes this era so infinitely fascinating for generations. And once you’ve experienced it, you can’t wait for that return visit to Vegas. –Ken Miller

Popular attraction features plenty of options for every skill level

The first thing that strikes you upon entering The Range 702, Southern Nevada’s premier destination for range training and recreation for all ages and skill levels, is how good you feel. And there’s a very good reason for that: The center features a state-of-the-art filtration system, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that you get free shuttle service there from anywhere you’re staying in town!

There are four bays for shooting a wide variety of weapons in 20-plus packages. My personal favorite may be the Black

Ops experience, which includes a full auto MP5 (20 rounds), a full auto M4 (20 rounds), a full auto M249 SAW (30 rounds), and a semi-auto Glock 17 (10 rounds). Every participant is given safety goggles, earplugs and headphones, and your instructors are with you every step of the way to ensure your experience is a safe, fun one.

And you can enjoy yourself knowing that The Range 702 is environmentally conscious; its 50 caliber shells get reused up to eight times, and

all rounds are frangible, meaning they are not only safer and have less wear-andtear on the back of the galleries, they are environmentally friendly.

Make sure to check out the VIP suite while you are there—it contains three large-screen TVs and cool art on the walls, and is used for everything from presentations to sports viewing. –Ken Miller

What’s better than this otherworldly market? Being able to imbibe during its evening cocktail party

If you’ve already explored Omega Mart at AREA15, you may have thought there was no way Meow Wolf could have possibly made the experiential exhibit any better than it already is. It’s already an ever-evolving, vast fantasyland that transports visitors to an alternate universe where imaginations can frolic freely. What more could you want?

Well, now you can clock in for some after-hours nonsense every Thursday with the designed dimension’s Night Shift, an exclusive, 21-and-up party that lets you explore while enjoying exquisite elixirs that would typically only be available in the attraction’s hidden speakeasy, Datamosh. When the clock strikes 7 p.m., miniature bars materialize in the trippy desert landscape that awaits just past the surface-level supermarket facade.

“If you just want to sit down and enjoy your drink in the exhibit, the desert is the best place to go,” Omega Mart operations manager Kelly Zymanek says. “But there’s Pulse up in the factory … That is my favorite place. It’s just so calming, and it’s mesmerizing the way that the artist

created movement in that space with lighting.”

Naturally, this whimsical world features a mixology program full of sippable spectacles made from unique and hard-to-find ingredients. Whiskey enthusiasts will love the Old Fashioned Spray, a take on the traditional cocktail that’s been “zhuzhed” up with Gajárdo Italian triple sec, an ingredient that Zymanek calls the most delicious thing she’s ever tasted.

If you’d rather taste tequila, try the Omegarita, made with blanco, given a splash of smokiness with mezcal, and made refreshing with ginger, citrus, coco bitters and Scrappy’s Firewater.

For something exceptionally exploratory, order the Happle Juice, a crisp concoction of vodka, Chareau aloe liqueur, apple liqueur, apple juice, rice milk and apple blossom bitters, served with a buzz button—the core of a Szechuan flower that stimulates the taste buds upon consumption. –Em Jurbala

The Perfect Spot

Have a beverage to remember at this dazzling drinkery in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip

Day or night, when the mood strikes and you want to hang in comfortable yet chic surroundings, there’s a new hot spot to go to: Glass Bar. With a semi-private design that gives guests the feeling of being enveloped in luxury, this destination gets big props for creating a space perfect for cocktails and conversation.

The lounge offers tons of comfy seating, and if your party wants a little privacy, there are plenty of nooks with sofas and tables—or if you’re feeling more social, the circular bar area puts you right in the action with easy access to bartenders and bar-top gaming. The décor is truly stunning, with beautiful, mirrored columns, crystal prisms that catch the lights and polished chrome brass accents. Not to be missed at Glass Bar, though, is its amazing menu—tons of craft cocktail options in addition to bottled beers and wines by the glass.

Start with the star of the show, the Fruit & Pebble, inspired by Fruity Pebbles cereal and featuring Diplomático Planas rum, Taylor Fladgate tawny port, a specially made Fruity Pebbles syrup and lime juice, with a dusting of crushed Fruity Pebbles and edible flowers along the rim. Another highlight is the Casino Carnival with Absolut Wild Berri vodka, La Marca Prosecco, passion fruit purée, simple syrup and lime juice.

Others include the Express Yourself, with Wheatley vodka, Kahlua, simple syrup and cold brew, and the refreshing Maui Mojito with Malibu rum, lemon and mint verbena syrup, lime juice, soda and fresh mint. –Kiko Miyasato Planet Hollywood. caesars.com

Feel right at home while you dine at this steakhouse

Everything about Barry’s Downtown Prime makes you feel comfortable, from the dark woods to cushy booths and leather chairs, all lit with pendant lighting and chandeliers overhead. It all evokes an old steakhouse feel while still maintaining some modern touches.

Appetizers are a must at Barry’s, with a wild combination of flavors in delights like a bone marrow luge atop a bed of fettuccine Alfredo topped with Parmigiano Reggiano, truffle butter and Madeira wine.

If you want to keep the beef theme going, it doesn’t get much better—or eye-catching—than the 46-ounce Mishima Reserve tomahawk ribeye, sourced from Mishima Reserve Farms in Seattle. Don’t forget to add on sides like George’s Cream Corn and whole Maine lobster mac ’n’ cheese, served in a hollowed-out lobster tail. If you’re more of a seafood fan, the Dover sole is a treat for both the eyes and taste buds, sautéed and served with baby gulf shrimp, lemon and butter sauce. And the “organic” fire

chicken, with sliced red Fresno chilis, jalapeños, lemon and rosemary au jus, is rich and delicious, and one of the best versions in all of downtown. Still hungry? Experience the Tahitian baked Alaska, surrounded by an Italian meringue and fired up at your table with a brandy flambé. Slice through to reveal layers of chocolate, Tahitian vanilla and strawberry ice cream. –Ken Miller

Blended, Flavored, On the Rocks …

However you choose to celebrate, National Margarita Day is here!

Cheers to Feb. 22—National Margarita Day. And boy, oh boy, have we got some great margaritas for you to down—some of our absolute faves across the city. Check out our list, schedule an Uber and go out and celebrate!

It’s an Italian bar— Sala 118 at The Venetian—but it has perhaps the best twist on the classic margarita. The Margherita blends Gajàrdo Arancia Radicale liqueur, Alpe Genepy Herbetet, prickly pear, lime and fresh oregano, and the spirit used is the property’s very own select barrel of tequila, The Venetian Select Paladar reposado tequila. This is well worth the time and effort it takes.

Mama Rabbit at Park MGM was built to specifically house tequila and mezcal cocktails and to get its hands on rare mom-and-pop brands. Two mainstay cocktails on the menu are the hot spot’s ode to the margarita—the Palomita with mezcal, grapefruit juice, hibiscus, lime and aqua fresca cerveza and Mama’s Margarita with blanco tequila, orange, lime and salt or no salt and spicy or not spicy—your choice.

Chica

Hussong’s Cantina hails from Ensenada, Mexico, dating back to 1892, and claims to be the bar that invented the margarita. The spot at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place also serves margaritas in pint glasses—the original way margaritas were served, they say. Here you can try the Original Margarita recipe with Jose Cuervo Tradicional reposado tequila, triple sec, organic

agave nectar and fresh-squeezed lime, and the giant Romance Margarita with Sauza Horinitos blanco and reposado, triple sec, organic agave nectar, freshsqueezed lime juice, strawberry purée, banana liqueur and Grand Marnier. You may need some help with this one!

Sip margaritas Stripside at the laidback, beachy scene of Cabo Wabo Cantina at Miracle Mile Shops at

Planet Hollywood. Order owner Sammy Hagar’s own Santos Tequila in margaritas like the Mango Margarita, Margarita Verde and the bestselling Cocorita, a margarita with a coconut twist.

In honor of the holiday, The Underground at Mob Museum offers a limited-time cocktail (Feb. 21-23), the Blueberry Basil Margarita, for $15. It’s crafted with Jose Cuervo tequila, blueberry syrup, fresh lime juice, triple sec, agave and fresh basil leaves.

Also at The Venetian, three specials are offered for the holiday. Electra Cocktail Club offers bottomless margaritas for $80 from 5 p.m.-2 a.m. and Juliet Cocktail Room does, too, from 3 p.m.-2 a.m. And over at Rosina Cocktail Lounge for $50 per person, take its one-hour margarita mixology class from 6-7 p.m.

One of the best frozen margaritas can be found at El Segundo Sol at FSLV—Fashion Show Las Vegas. Settle in, because you’ll want to keep ordering its Frozen Strawberry Margarita made with Sauza tequila and a fresh-made strawberry purée.

At Crush at MGM Grand, celebrate with two margarita cocktails priced at $22 each: the La Rosa, a blend of Ghost blanco tequila, red rose syrup, lime juice and rose salt; and the El Diablo with Mezcal Verás, Amaro Montenegro, hibiscus, morita chili pepper and lime juice.

For a delish marg in a magical setting, visit Oddwood Bar inside AREA15 and order the Mexican Candy Margarita with Querido spicy watermelon tequila, fresh watermelon, mango and a Tajín rim with a watermelon treat.

On this special day, Chica at The Venetian offers the Verdita Margarita for $21. It’s mixed with Monte Alban mezcal, Ancho Reyes tequila, toasted green peppers, lime juice, agave, pineapple, spicy bitters, saline and a Tajín rim. –Kiko Miyasato

lead leads the way in the cocktail industry

One never knows where life will lead and what one can accomplish out in the world. Meet Derek Crow. From a small town in Wyoming, he became one of the most well-known and respected mixologists in Las Vegas, currently working as the bar lead at Bar Zazu and next-door Brezza at Resorts World Las Vegas.

“I had zero interest in bartending, believe it or not,” Crow says. But when the bartender at the restaurant he was working at in Casper, Wyo., called out and

he filled in, well, that was it. He spent his 20s bartending and decided he wanted to swim in a bigger pond, so he made the move to Vegas and hit the jackpot. Crow has been mentored by the city’s top mixologists like Mariena Mercer Boarini and Tony Abou-Ganim and, today, more than a decade later, he has become a mentor to a new generation of bartenders.

“Not knowing where the ceiling is and how far you can take it, that’s what I love,” he says. Not only has Crow created

impressive cocktail programs all over the city, and for the past three and a half years for Bar Zazu and Brezza, he also helps build cocktail menus around the country through his LLC.

“I’m an open book to the future,” he says. “I came from a small town and now I get to work in a great city with great people including guests and the bartenders I’ve mentored. When it comes to my career, I have zero regrets and am excited about the future.” –Kiko Miyasato

Caramella takes Italian dining to a whole new level

Italian food is, for many, the best ethnic food on the planet. In addition to being satisfying and comforting, it’s associated with family, tradition and fellowship. And odds are you’re planning an Italian meal as part of your Las Vegas experience. If so, there’s a new player in town, courtesy of Tao Group, which is redefining the dining experience on the Las Vegas Strip with every restaurant it opens. And when

it comes to it’s latest venture Caramella, there’s no other way to say it: It will absolutely blow you away.

The design of this restaurant, on the mezzanine level by the Criss Angel MINDFREAK theater, is irresistible. Soft curves are accentuated by red lighting fixtures overhead, and the pink and burgundy cushioning in the booths is lit by the coolest sconces you’ll ever see—monkeys reading newspapers! Elsewhere, red and

brown shades set an elegant yet fun mood, and toward the back you’ll find amazing views of the Bellagio fountains. It’s a space you’ll look forward to revisiting before you’ve even been served.

Fans of The Sopranos will probably want to start their

cocktail experience with the Paulie Walnuts, a brandy-based libation mixed with Nux Alpina Nocino, Montenegro, Carpano Antica and blackberry. If you’re a bourbon fan, you’ve gotta try the sur-

NY-style cheesecake
Blue crab malfaldine

prising Chaotic Good, a blend of Campari, Cocchi Torino vermouth and Xocoltol mole bitters. With each sip, you get little, edible bits of cacao!

The appetizer list is full of tempting choices. The jumbo shrimp cocktail is served with Calabrian chili cocktail sauce, while the polenta board is a flavor bomb with porcini and truffle pecorino. For one of the best salads on the Strip (seri-

ously!), order the arugula and shaved fennel, so ridiculously flavorful with roasted pine nuts, Parmigiano and lemon vinaigrette.

Pastas come in all types, depending on your palate. Red sauce fans will flip for the baked manicotti, while blue crab malfadine eschews the red sauce for lemon, cream and toasted breadcrumbs.

Your main course may be the toughest one to choose

from, as Tao Group has loaded this section with temptations.

You can go the New York strip route, and if you order it medium rare, know this: It’s perfection, with just a slight, crispy char on the outside that provides the perfect counterpart to the succulent meat inside. Chicken Parmigiano gets an extra-special treatment here: It’s stuffed full of cheese.

Don’t be surprised if supplies of this one are limited, as it’s

extremely popular. And the Duroc pork tenderloin medallions are melt-in-your-mouth amazing. The sides here are all great accompaniments, from the mushroom and Gorgonzola potato gratin to the roasted broccoli and mascarpone creamed spinach.

For dessert, you should definitely try the signature Caramella tart, made with dark chocolate custard and salted caramel, as decadent a bite as you’re likely to find on the Strip. But we also love the massive NY-style cheesecake.

ARTE MUSEUM, located at 63 CityCenter at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Harmon Ave., is unlike any other museum you might have experienced. It’s art that moves, visuals that immerse and audio that surrounds—all combining to create moments of wonder and awe.

From the creative minds of Korean design and art company d’strict, ARTE MUSEUM operates in seven di erent locations including South Korea, Dubai, Hong Kong and now Las Vegas, the first U.S venture for the company. The museum consists of multiple immersive experiences

spread across two floors and 30,000 square feet. The self-guided museum features a series of rooms, each with its own experience. Advanced media technologies that use projection mapping, multi-image control and sensor-based interaction allow the visitor to be fully immersed in various scenes and locales.

ARTE MUSEUM recently celebrated its first anniversary, and with that milestone introduced several new experiences. one of those is “Giant Camellia,” a forest ripe with camellias. As you place your hand on the interactive walls, the flowers come into bloom. Through the trees,

mythical creatures fly around as the sounds of the living forest transport you to the magical locale. The “Garden” room includes a trip to Paris where you can walk along the rooftops of Parisian homes as you view the Ei el Tower in the background. This room also includes digital displays of iconic Parisian paintings by 19th Century French impressionists like Manet, Caillebotte and Renoir. Sit and watch as the paintings bring the room to life as calming classical music aides in the experience—music is such an integral part of ARTE MUSEUM.

“Our immersive soundscape is created by music director Young-gyu Jang, a globally renowned composer celebrated for his scores in films like Train to Busan and The Wailing,” said Jin Lee, d’strict creative director. “He also serves as the bassist and producer for the award-winning band Leenalchi. For ARTE MUSEUM Las Vegas, Jang artfully combines intricate natural sounds with emotive background music, especially in our ‘Garden’ exhibit, to heighten the emo-

tional resonance of each piece.”

The “Starry Beach” has quickly become one of the most popular new experiences as guests are surrounded by the ocean once stepping inside the room. The scene is set at night as the waves rise and fall, stretching the entire length of one wall and down onto the ground as the waves crash at your feet. The intense sounds of the waves crashing and ebbing add to the realism of this moving experience.

Other rooms include “Live Sketchbook,” where guests can draw their own creatures and watch as the museum’s technology allows for their drawings to come to life and be displayed within the safari scene playing

Within ARTE MUSEUM is ARTE Café, a one-of-a-kind tea and latte experience. Be mesmerized by one giant wall filled with a beach and sunset scene where the rolling waves flow across the sand and the sky is lit up by peach-and-purplecolored clouds. A new immersive experience at the cafe includes “Dream of Las Vegas,” visuals inspired by the city. Order your cup of tea and watch it come to life as you move your cup about the tabletop. “Our ARTE Café is seamlessly connected to our exhibition space,” Koo said. “As soon as people step inside, their immediate reaction is, ‘Wow, what is this place?’ You can experience digital motion tracking that follows your cup. As you move your cup, digital e ects respond to your movements, creating an immersive, interactive experience. It’s an amazing space where you can also taste our signature ARTE latte!”

out across the walls. The “Whale” room astounds as water takes the shape of the huge mammal as it stretches, sings and swims across the entire wall. And upon exiting the museum you’ll experience “Sunset,” with sherbet-colored tones that take you from daytime to beautiful sunset as you descend a set of stairs.

The technology of ARTE MUSEUM is nothing short of astounding and inspiring—through innovative technology, it brings art to life and allows for the guest to experience the creative medium in a truly immersive way.

“I hope guests have a truly engaging and thought-provoking experience as they explore the museum,” said

Esther Koo, d’strict marketing supervisor. “My aim is for them to feel connected to the art in a meaningful way, whether through interactive elements, stunning visuals, or moments of quiet reflection. I want them to walk away inspired, with a deeper understanding of the art and a sense of joy from the journey.”

It’s no accident Jay Leno has a reputation as stand-up’s hardest working comedian

Jay Leno isn’t just the hardest-working entertainer in show business; he’s also one of the most resilient. The late Bob Einstein, better known as daredevil Super Dave Osborne, pretended to risk life and limb for his profession, but Leno has experienced it for real, making news in 2022 after being injured in a garage fire, only to fall down a hill and faceplant once he recovered from the burns. The experiences, naturally, are ripe for Leno to draw on for his latest stand-up.

Current events not involving personal injuries have been fun-

comedy albums he would memorize, and Mort Sahl, who would draw on current events for his club and television appearances.

David Brenner, Bob Newhart, Robert Klein and Johnny Carson were also among his influences, but he followed his own idiosyncratic path to success. Leno would make bets with club bartenders that he could do a set without anyone in the audience leaving in order to access stages. He opened for dancers at strip clubs and weathered abuse from their patrons. He became familiar to television audiences with

damental to the comedian’s act since he first started forming it in his native Massachusetts. Born to an Italian father and spirited Scottish mother, Leno developed an appreciation for the humorists such as George Carlin, whose

guest-starring roles in ’70s series such as Good Times and One Day at a Time

His most memorable role was in 1981 when the motorcycle enthusiast played a biker fixated on the titular character in Alice, but

from then on, his stand-up persona began to eclipse his sitcom exposure. Leno was known as a comedians’ comedian at a time when his peers included Richard Lewis and Richard Belzer. David Letterman publicly praised him as his favorite comedian, and Leno became a regular guest on Letterman’s NBC show.

That admiration would end famously when Leno was chosen over Letterman as Carson’s replacement on The Tonight Show The idea of Leno donning a suit and appearing nightly seemed a little less daunting to NBC execs than replacing congenial Carson with sarcastic Letterman. In the end, with Letterman taking an offer from CBS for a show with an 11:30 p.m. time slot, both comedians flourished.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno debuted three days after Carson retired in 1992 and ended in 2014. Leno relinquished hosting duties to Conan O’Brien in 2009 but was brought back by NBC after the network heads got jittery about O’Brien’s ratings. He drew flak from other comedians and late-night hosts for returning, maintaining his customary unflappable demeanor.

All the while he maintained a schedule of stand-up appearances and, unlike Carson, he didn’t invite guest hosts to fill in for him on The Tonight Show while he took vacations. Leno earned and maintained his reputation as the hardest-working comedian in stand-up throughout his late-night career and subsequent CNBC series Jay Leno’s Garage He’s also earned the right to be a little accident prone.

After he spent Christmas in Edinburg, Scotland playing Pharaoh in a U.K. revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, his clan experienced the loss of brother Wayne, who passed away Jan. 1 at 73 after su ering a stroke. (While Wayne was the fourth-oldest child, he was the second-oldest member of The Osmonds.) Donny, the seventh oldest, memorialized Wayne on social media the next day, then braced himself to return to the Las Vegas stage for his long-running headlining show.

Wayne gets his due at Donny Osmond, the residency, when Donny harmonizes with his brothers via video enhancement in

one of the show’s many highlights. Osmond dances with representations of his siblings, allows the audience to pick an album from his catalog for him and his live band to perform, demonstrates his rapping ability, and makes room for dancing dynamo Miki Catherine to kick up her heels.

Although Osmond may still perform with a heavy heart, his show is a joyous occasion that includes songs and stories about his brothers and sister Marie. Wayne performed in a barbershop quartet that included Merrill, Alan and Jay. The group became a quintet when Osmond, practically born to sing, joined the group.

By the early ’70s the brothers had switched to pop and had their first big hit

with “One Bad Apple.” That song written by George Jackson, who penned Bob Seger’s hit “Old Time Rock & Roll,” went to No. 1 in 1971 and made The Osmonds superstars. Donny, who sang the high part of the dual lead, covers the song in concert with his adult voice comfortably rendering the parts Merrill sings on the single.

The song became the opening theme to a Saturday-morning animated series.

The Osmonds played concerts in arenas and were pictured in posters hanging on bedroom walls of teen female fans across the country. More hits came such as “Yo-Yo” and rocking “Down by the Lazy River” from 1971 album Phase III before Osmond began scoring solo singles such as “Puppy Love” and “Go Away Little Girl.”

fortunes of The Osmonds, which would become a successful country act in the ’80s. Chart success for Osmond segued into prime-time television success as he teamed with his younger sister for ABC variety series Donny & Marie. The show was a hit, but variety shows would soon reach a saturation point and disappear from the airwaves.

As Osmond’s voice changed, so did the

The siblings’ chemistry was revived when they opened a long-running residency at Flamingo in 2008. They quickly became a top draw on the Strip, with their faces adorning the property’s streetside exterior. Donny came back solo after that show’s final curtain, but he’s no nostalgia act. His show is a blast, featuring all The Osmonds’ hits plus his own comeback single, “Soldier of Love.” It’s as if he was born to be a Las Vegas headliner.

When it comes to o -Strip dining options, it’s really hard to beat

If you want to step away from the Las Vegas Strip for a spell to dine and drink like the locals do, we highly recommend Chinatown, a bustling district with more than 100 di erent eateries. Each block is packed with amazing options—so where do you begin? We’ve got you covered! Here, we highlight just a few of our favorite spots available to you. Something important to remember: There are no wrong choices!

5300 Spring Mountain Road No. 101. 702.749.7477

The original Ichiza is one of Chinatown’s most beloved dining spots, but if you want an extra-special treat, head to this second location, which boasts 11 private dining rooms for you and your party, each decorated with lantern-style light fixtures and bamboo curtains, not to mention a button to summon your server. The options here are too hard to select from, so get a bit of everything, from salmon steak and beef shabu shabu salad to corn butter and pork katsu. Make sure to finish o your meal with Ichiza’s brown sugar pudding, so simple and yet so deeply satisfying.

lamb, pork belly and chicken), seafood, vegetables, mushrooms, handmade noodles and more. Best of all, the menu changes seasonally, making repeat visits practically mandatory. The signature cocktails are equally wonderful, from Harby’s Revenge, made with Ezra Brooks bourbon, black ice tea, white peach liqueur and lemon juice, to Nengmeng Drop, featuring lemon vodka, lemoncello, lemon juice and calpico.

This reservation-only spot is highly popular for fans of shareable, social meals. Termed “Chinese fondue,” it all starts with a pot of broth, in which you

Just o the main Chinatown drag, this Vietnamese restaurant, featuring a great location and spacious, comfortable setups for large groups, has been a staple since opening 10 year ago. Its focus is pho, a delicious, broth-based soup to which you can add everything from lobster and steak to braised oxtail and bone marrow, but there are also wonderful fried rice options, as well as salads and shared plates like steamed sea snails, oxtail fries and VFC wings (Vietnamese fried chicken).

This award-winning Spanish tapas restaurant, the brainchild of chef Oscar Amador Edo, excels at every aspect, from front-of-house details and contemporary interior design to dish presentation and service. Dinner highlights include Kurobuta pork cheeks

with Panang red curry, sunchokes and Thai basil gremolata, and txangurro, a traditional blue crab sofrito with Oloroso sherry and potato espuma. Whatever you order, pair it with Corny Jokes, a cocktail featuring Don Fulano Fuerte, corn, peach, Ancho Reyes, lime and chili-lime salt.

Even though this is a food truck, you’ll almost always find it in the same place. It’s a true Chinatown institution, and for good reason: The food absolutely slays, and it’s very affordable to boot. If it’s your first time, you gotta order the green chili burrito, full of smoked chicken, pinto beans, bell peppers and cheese. It goes great with prickly pear Cutty juice. One more reason this place rules: When you arrive, the ultra-friendly staff snaps your photo and places it onto a huge collection of customer photos on the awning.

Fine French dining in Chinatown?

Believe it! This establishment, with a menu courtesy of chef Yuri Szarzewski, specializes in five- to nine-course tasting menus, all featuring seasonal ingredients, along with a world-class wine-pairing option (so worth the money). You can also opt to add items like seared foie gras with seasonal garnish and caviar or truffles. There’s also a Chef’s Table option facing the kitchen to see your dishes prepared in real time.

If you want a list of who’s who in Las Vegas (and beyond), check out this bar’s celebrity shrunken head collection near the back. You’ll find “tributes” to

Carrot Top, Siegfried & Roy and Strip headliner Rod Stewart, not to mention Walt Disney and John Waters (both of whom helped inspire the bar’s look). The cocktails here are legendary and often STRONG, especially Navy Grog, a mix of Dominican and Jamaican dark and overproof rums, lime and grapefruit juices and honey syrup. This is a 24-hour destination, but we strongly encourage you to make reservations here: It’s a hot ticket.

3410 S. Jones Blvd. 702.227.9300

For one of the best Japanese fine-dining experiences in town, this is a must-visit. Start your evening off with small bites like jalapeño yellowtail, chicken karaage (served with negi sauce) or takoyaki skewers. Then work your way to the menu’s various carpaccios, from thinly sliced halibut and uni, salmon and halibut, and yellowtail to beef tataki and seared garlic tuna sashimi. For a truly unique experience, order something from the yakitori menu, where everything is cooked using binchotan charcoal from Japan. Choices here range from chicken thigh and wagyu tongue to enoki mushroom

bacon and pork belly.

3545 S. Decatur Blvd. 702.201.1926

Vegetarians, vegans and omnivores will all find something to enjoy at this establishment, courtesy of owner Tony Nguyen. The menu hits every palate, all in a comfortable setting full of bold burgundy accents and earth tones. It’s the perfect place to enjoy appetizers like watermelon wontons, angus tenderloin tartare and honey-glazed chicken lollipops, and main courses like wok-tossed five-spice octopus, crispy pesto gnocchi and vegan scallops, marinated in nori broth and served with a sweet potato purée.

3879 Spring Mountain Road. 702.201.1133

One of the more unique restaurants in Chinatown, this Mexican hot spot not only features a delicious menu of street tacos (your choice of al pastor, carne asada, carnitas, hot honey-glazed chicken or barbacoa), it also contains a flower-and skull-adorned speakeasy, accessed through a long, winding corridor. Enjoy exclusive cocktails here like the Corona Stona, featuring blanco tequila, lime, agave, Midori, triple sec and cucumber, all served in a flasklike container to which an upended Corona beer is attached.

5030 Spring Mountain Road Ste. 6.

702.367.4600

You may think you’ve tasted ramen, but until you go here, where the style served is kurume-style tonkotsu ramen, you really haven’t. This is absolutely the gold standard for this particular dish, and the options plentiful. We’d recommend starting with the classic version, featuring pork broth, thin noodles and nori (dried seaweed), topped with two slices of pork chashu, black mushrooms, bamboo shoots and green

onions. We highly recommend adding nitamago, a flavored egg, to whatever you try; it adds a whole new level of flavor to what is already a terrific dish.

3616 Spring Mountain Road.

702.268.8762

Sometimes simplicity is the key to success, and nowhere is that more evident than at this outpost of the San Diego-based franchise, where street tacos are the focus, all served on fresh, handmade tortillas. Whether you choose al pastor, pollo asado, carne asada or seafood, you can’t go wrong here. If burritos are more your thing, the California is highly recommended, filled with flame-grilled Angus steak, French fries, guac, tomato and cheese. And vegetarians shouldn’t avoid this spot—you can get your tacos with nopal (cactus) or sautéed mushrooms.

Barry Manilow feels right where he belongs at his Westgate Las Vegas shows

Barry Manilow never met Elvis, but he did stay in the original Elvis Suite when Westgate Las Vegas was The Hilton. “It was an older suite, but it was huge,” Manilow said in an exclusive interview with Las Vegas Magazine. “It was the entire floor, the entire 30th floor, so I did get a sense of where he actually stayed when he was there.”

The 30th floor was remodeled shortly after Manilow’s Hilton 1985 debut. He stays in the current Elvis Suite when he fl ies into Vegas for his Barry Manilow: The Hits Come Home shows. For Manilow, it was love at fi rst sight when he saw the stage where The King reigned for 636 shows. Arenas enable him to take his music to the masses, but he considers the stage and audience capacity at the International Theater perfect for what he does.

favorite singer, where songs transport them to happier times and longtime fans dance as if the decades since “Daybreak” never happened.

“These people are so happy, and they’re all ages. That’s why I still do it,” said Manilow, who had an epiphany during a mid-’80s concert. The lights hit the audience and it was as if he was seeing them for the fi rst time. Until then, Manilow was somewhat self-centered in his shows. It was about the clothes, the look, singing perfectly.

“And then suddenly I looked at them and decided it’s not about me. It’s about them,” said Manilow. “Everything changed because I realized that’s why I’m on that stage. That’s why I’m there. It’s to make them feel great. It’s to make them forget their cancer and their divorces, and if they lost their job.”

“I like traveling into the audience,” said Manilow. “I have trouble being as intimate as I want to be with an arena. It’s fun and it’s exciting, but it’s a whole di erent kind of feeling than the Westgate. The Westgate is the perfect room for me. Out of all the rooms that I’ve ever played, this is the one for me. If I was building one for myself, this is the size that I would have built.”

Anyone who’s witnessed Manilow perform the iconic “Copacabana” at the venue would agree, as set design and a fl ight of stairs allow Manilow to perform above the audience as he sings of music, passion and fashion. It’s a place where Fanilows the world over can make a pilgrimage to their

The revelation marked the maturing of a special relationship between Fanilows and Manilow. “I’ve been very lucky,” said Manilow. “Those great people were there, not as many, but they were there from the very beginning. I don’t know why, because I was terrible on the stage.”

Manilow had never actually planned to be onstage. Before “Mandy,” before the fi rst album, becoming a famous singer was not a goal. “Never even in my mind,” recalled Manilow. “I had no desire to do it. I was going to be a conductor, arranger or songwriter. Keyboard guy, anything in the background. The last thing on my mind was to be standing on that stage entertaining people.”
