Feeling French?
Head to this Paris-inspired café on the Vegas Strip to find savories, sweets and sips
The smell of fresh crepes now wafts through Paris Las Vegas’ faux French facade, and that irresistible aroma comes courtesy of the latest concept from James Beard Award-winning pastry chef Dominique Ansel. Bringing to life the French market dining experience, Dominique Ansel Marché not only features the chef’s famed baked treats, but a full savory menu, something Vegas has yet to see from Ansel.
Sandwich enthusiasts will be delighted to know that not only is there an extensive sandwich selection that includes standouts like the croque monsieur, a classic featuring ham, Gruyère and béchamel on homemade sourdough, but also a ficelle sandwich menu that features fantastic fillings on a flaky, homemade baguette. Try the smoked salmon version with crème fraîche, capers, red onions, lemon zest and chives.
For something more filling, order chicken or turkey served fresh from the rotisserie that sits at the heart of the open kitchen. Served with appropriate accoutrements, these beautifully prepared proteins pair so perfectly with the roasted potatoes and vegetables to make a hearty, satisfying meal.
Oh, and that sweet, irresistible scent we mentioned earlier? That’s coming from the crepe station that sits at the front of the café. From that station comes not just sweet treats like the lemon sugar crepe, but savory buckwheat crepes that will blow you away (plus, they’re gluten-free). The Vegetarienne with spinach and artichoke ricotta filling, fresh spinach and lemon vinaigrette balances the ultra-rich creaminess of its filling with the bright and zesty dressing, while the Forestiere features salty prosciutto and crispy bacon lardons made rich with Gruyère, pecorino and a sunny-side up egg.
It would be not be a true Dominique Ansel experience without indulging in his signature confectionary creations. Order fresh-baked goodies like the iconic Cronut and DKA or indulge in one of the tempting tarts on this menu. If you’d rather enjoy a frozen treat, the mango calamansi sorbet is to die for.

A Tasty Celebration
Wine-pairing dinner shines a light on trailblazing women
With March being Women’s History Month, you’ll find plenty of celebrations and events, including this week’s A Celebration of Women in Wine at NoMad Library, honoring groundbreaking work by women in the culinary and wine worlds.
The March 6 dinner spotlights wines from Sonoma County’s La Crema winery and a menu curated by NoMad Library executive chef Isiah Torres, inspired by chefs Julia Child, Alice Waters and Dominique Crenn. Veteran winemaker Lisa Valtenbergs will guide diners and discuss the winery’s approach to both tradition and innovation.
Courses include:
• Canapés accompanied by NV Sparkling Brut Rosé & 2022 Russian River Chardonnay.
• Spring chicory salad with bacon, soft-boiled egg, local herbs and a champagne vinaigrette, plus a 2022 Russian River chardonnay from Saralee’s Vineyard. This course pays homage to Child, whose cooking shows and books (including the iconic Mastering the Art of French Cooking) inspired generations of aspiring chefs and home cooks.
• Surf & turf with Santa Carota filet mignon, butter-poached scallops, braised petite carrots and bordelaise sauce served with a 2022 Sonoma Coast pinot noir and Fog Veil pinot
noir. This course is dedicated to Waters, founder of Chez Panisse in California and a force in creating the farm-to-table movement. She is known for her restaurant’s hospitality (influenced by her travels, including her time in Turkey).
• A whipped chèvre tart, macerated strawberries, sherry gastrique and Thai basil, accompanied by a 2022 Sonoma County cabernet sauvignon. This course recognizes Crenn, a restaurateur and TV personality (and Michelin-star holder) who was one of Time ’s 100 Most Influential People of 2024.
In Las Vegas, you’ll find plenty of women in the food and beverage scene, including sommeliers like Rina Brussel at Carbone, Kimberly Wittstadt at Spago and Sarah Pamatat at Jasmine, beverage director Laura Suarez at Eataly Las Vegas, chef Winnie Wong at Rivea, owner and chef Nicole Brisson at Brezza and Bar Zazu and MGM Grand executive pastry chef Cynthia Inguanzo.
So as you’re dining, whether at this dinner or another, keep in mind the history in the making you might be a part of. –Nina King

Classic Chords
Timeless rock band returns to its limited engagement this week
It may seem like Chicago is enjoying a career resurgence, but the brass-driven band has never taken a break substantial enough to be considered a hiatus. Chicago is one of the few acts that performed every year during the pandemic, playing The Venetian in 2020 right before the stages of the Strip went dark and returning to the concert circuit in June 2021.
“We are so blessed to have enjoyed a legacy that seems still to be a timeless one,” said trombonist and founding member James Pankow in an exclusive
interview with Las Vegas Magazine. “And it’s about this music. Never in our wildest dreams would we have expected this music to become so much of a soundtrack (to the lives) of millions and millions of people. We are, over a half a century later, doing sell-out business. People can’t get enough of this stuff.”
“This stuff” started out when Chicago college students Pankow, saxophonist Walter Parazaider, trumpet player Lee Loughnane, keyboardist Robert Lamm and guitarist Terry Kath teamed up
with drummer Danny Seraphine to form a band that would become Chicago Transit Authority.
Bassist Peter Cetera completed the band’s classic lineup, and they released their debut in 1968, setting in motion a decadeslong career that continues today. –Matt Kelemen

Prime Eats
This fine-dining venue offers rich, delicious dishes
For impeccable service in an elegant, old-school setting, restaurants in Las Vegas don’t get much better than Edge Steakhouse, where the standards are as high today as when it opened in 2015.
That service is not an accident, said general manager Richard Douglas in an interview with Las Vegas Magazine. “We have a collection of front and back of the house employees that have worked at this property for extended years. With this, a deep sense of pride and ownership has emerged within our establishment. ... Our staff’s passion resonates with guests, leaving an unforgettable impression on everyone who walks through the doors.”
You’ll find a wonderful array of starters on Edge’s menu, from lightly fried spicy shrimp that get their kick from a sweet chili reduction to roasted bone marrow served with braised short rib, onion jam, marrow arancini, parsley and radish.
If you decide to go with jumbo lump crab cake, we certainly couldn’t blame you, and this version gets a special kick from avocado aioli, lemon crème fraîche, cucumber and citrus.
Steaks are available in a variety of cuts, from a 7-ounce filet mignon to a hearty, 20-ounce, dry-aged ribeye. Accompany any of these with your choice of seared scallops, charred jalapeño or caramelized onions, and then choose your sides like the blackand-white truffle mac and cheese made with white cheddar, Gruyère and Parmesan.
Not in the mood for steak? Seafood and poultry options are also available, from ora king salmon with cauliflower risotto to a citrusbrined Mary’s organic chicken.
For something exceptionally indulgent, order the Alaskan red king crab legs, served in half-pound or one-pound portions with lemon buerre monte.
Whatever you do, do not skip dessert here. The milk chocolate sphere is a can’t-miss for deep satisfaction, featuring a warm s’mores brownie, vanilla Chantilly, pecan praline and salted caramel ice cream. Or, order the Raspberry Pavlova for a taste of airy Italian meringue and fresh berries.

Still Rockin’
Don’t miss your chance to hear this classic group’s biggest hits live
Whether you grew up in this century or in the last, chances are you know the work of Tommy James & The Shondells. Singer and guitarist James, who formed The Shondells in the early ’60s, is responsible for some of the most known songs across the generations.
If you’ve heard “Hanky Panky,” that was his first hit. And if you thought Billy Idol and Tiffany came up with “Mony, Mony” and “I Think We’re Alone Now,” respectively, you’d be a little off, as those were mid-’60s pop smashes for
the group. With the song “Crimson and Clover,” the group began a more rock-oriented, psychedelic slant, releasing hits like “Crystal Blue Persuasion” and “Sweet Cherry Wine.”
Although Tommy James & The Shondells disbanded in 1970, the group had a lasting effect in the music industry, with more than 300 artists covering the hits. “Crystal Blue Persuasion” was even featured in the wildly popular Breaking Bad in 2012.
Today, James has a busy touring
schedule, traveling across the country with The Shondells, which has had many members throughout the decades, and appears in downtown Las Vegas at the Golden Nugget this week. No matter how you connect to the band, it’s a great chance to see a music legend and find yourself saying, “I didn’t know they did this song!” –Nina King

Time to Play
This barcade has much to offer, from games to drinks to sports viewing
Strip hotels are full of bars and lounges, each with their own unique spin and offerings. One of the newest, and easily one of the most enjoyable to date, is The Cove Bar & Arcade at Treasure Island, an all-in-one destination that not only features great cocktails and sports viewing, but some of your arcade favorites. There’s no end to the fun to be had at this 7,367-square-foot space. Bring the kids (all children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult) to enjoy
simulations of golf, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, hockey, rugby, lacrosse and much more, as well as virtual reality games like King Kong of Skull Island. There’s also air hockey, claw machines, champion shuffleboard, Jet Pong (arcade-style beer pong), foosball and classic arcade games like Pac-Man’s Pixel Bash
Perhaps the biggest draw here is duckpin bowling. If you’ve never tried this alternative to classic bowling, it’s a very
challenging variation, featuring shorter and lighter pins, meaning strikes are more difficult.
Add in 19 high-definition televisions, eight video poker stations and a great beer and cocktail menu and you’ve basically found your new party headquarters. However, fair warning: Once you enter, you may never want to leave. –Ken Miller

Reality TV star’s third Strip venue stuns in every way possible
What can we say? The Vanderpumps just do it so, so well. The family brand has already opened two successful operations on the Strip at Caesars Palace and Paris Las Vegas, and its third hot spot, Pinky’s by Vanderpump, brings a luxe, art deco atmosphere with a creative cocktail program to the iconic Flamingo.
Upon stepping through the striking green gates that create a portal to this opulent venue, you’ll notice the space has been designed with keen attention to detail. Lush greenery fills the atrium-like area by the Stripside entrance, while plush pinks accent the stunning gold hues found throughout the rest of
the splendid space. Part of what makes this bar so visually interesting are the various textures throughout. Fuzzy wallpaper, scaled tiles, ostrich feathers—it all just feels oh so extravagant. Naturally, you’ll find a cocktail program just as carefully crafted as the
environment here. Largely developed by Pandora Vanderpump Sabo, Lisa Vanderpump’s daughter, the beverage menu took weeks to perfect, but that effort paid off, resulting in some of the most well-balanced, enjoyable cocktails on the Strip.
Popcorn and Pop’s Scotch
Tips/Insider Knowledge
Order snacks like the goat cheese balls with strawberry and hot honey or the deviled egg gardens, a flight of five deviled eggs with toppings like caviar, lobster salad and smoked salmon. Looking to get the party started? You can order a Vanderpump signature birdcage with shots for the whole group!
Stop in for the decadent brunch and taste some midmorning exclusives like Lisa’s Bloody Hell, a take on the Bloody Mary with jalapeño vodka, Pinky’s Bloody Mary mix, Firewater, lime, Worcestershire and Tajín—garnished with tater tots!
Martinis and spritzes make up a large portion of the menu, including standout sips like the Pump & Bump, a martini flavored with vermouth, orange bitters, Green Chartreuse and olive brine, served with a perfect pop of caviar. This cocktail features Vanderpump brand vodka, which has a clean, crisp flavor that works perfectly with the mixture of bright and savory flavors in this drink.
Prefer a gin-based martini? Try The Dirty Dog, an everything bagel-inspired concoction of WORKDOG London dry gin (another incredible Vanderpump family product), olive brine, blue cheese olives and everything bagel seasoning. Or order The Vanderpump Vesper, made with Tanqueray Sevilla gin, Vanderpump vodka and Lillet Blanc for an elegant, simpler sip.
For some bubbles, order the Sin & Tonic. Made with Empress gin, hibiscus, blood orange, lemon and ginger bitters and tonic, this fruity bev is not only refreshing and delicious, but also totally gorgina. Seriously, think about your Instagram post: A vibrant pink libation, surrounded by rich green hues, illuminated by the natural light that streams in through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Who wouldn’t double tap?
And that’s just the beginning of the postable potations to choose from. If the classic Old-Fashioned is up your alley, order the Pop’s Scotch, a popcorn-themed take on the standard sip, made with brown butter caramel, vanilla cherry bitters and Angostura bitters. Plus, this drink comes with its own snack—an adorable little bag of popcorn!
You don’t even have to tipple to enjoy a fabulous beveragino from this menu, as there are two mocktails to choose from that will tickle you all the
same. Have the earthy and herbaceous Sage Advice, made with pineapple, sage, matcha, lemon, mint, soda and aquafaba (chickpea brine). We know what you’re thinking: bean juice in a cocktail? Worry not, aquafaba acts relatively similar to egg whites and is used to add a bit of froth to the top of the drink. If matcha isn’t your match, have the Flamingo Pink, made with strawberry, coconut cream, lemon, soda and aquafaba. –Em Jurbala

on board by the time Maroon 5 played the first of many New Year’s Eve concerts in Las Vegas, with keyboardist PJ Morton joining in 2012 and longtime Maroon 5 collaborator Sam Farrar playing basslines since 2016. Maroon 5 would be as much a part of “Auld Lang Syne” in Las Vegas as fireworks until it launched the first Dolby Live its beginnings. The current setlist includes material from their Songs About Jane Tour that were performed at Vegas concerts by the band, which included founding member and current rhythm guitarist/keyboardist Jesse Carmichael. Drummer Matt Flynn was residency shows in 2023. Now superfans of all ages know where to find Maroon 5 in Las Vegas and have 6,400 vantage points to choose from, including balcony seats. Levine’s voice effortlessly hits high notes like it’s 2003, and the musicianship of Valentine is often front and center on the tall video panels that sometimes project the band in infrared. Otherwise, the background is ambient and non-distracting from the performance of more than 20 songs and covers, which include Morton’s “Heavy” on at least one occasion in October. Expect “Animals,” “Payphone,” “Moves Like Jagger” and “Sugar” for sure, with strong possibilities of “Stayin’ Alive” and a Prince song. Expect Maroon 5 to play each concert as if it’s the first of the residency or the last. Levine might sing about a payphone, but the band never phones it in. Maroon 5 does not disappoint the superfans.

‘Memories’ and a lot more with the superfan set
One of the constant highlights of Maroon 5’s Las Vegas residency has been when singer Adam Levine and guitarist James Valentine venture into the audience to serenade a section of the superfans, many of whom sing along as Levine croons “She Will Be Loved” and Valentine fingerpicks the song’s chord progression. The Maroon 5 superfan knows this part of the show well. If they’re seated close, they’ll be capturing the moment for content creation without interfering with sightlines. The superfan prepares carefully for this moment. They’ve saved maximum memory on their phone for video. They documented the road to Dolby Live on social media. They watched the end of Venom 3: The Last Dance again and felt chills as “Memories” accompanied a montage of Eddie Brock reminiscing about his titular buddy. They streamed the song and helped it reach the summit of the Top Movie Songs chart in October.

frenzied showroom. ’s Em her latest venture. you were on the Fremont Street during Casino.
Yeah, no, I’m not good with breaks. I know that. But I also am aware that you know, you try and make things happen as they have. I’ve been so obsessed with that Plaza showroom since I first saw it, that we had to get it … We made it happen, then it’s like, “Oh, God, now the work begins.”
As well as it being such a beautiful showroom, it’s also in this amazing space. I mean, you really spit and you were on the Fremont Street Experience, which is just insane, and my favorite people watching in the world. Meanwhile, if you just go upstairs, you can be sitting where Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone sat …This just hits all of my buttons. … I come from a place that says Vegas is a playground, it’s
No, because I feel the roots of what I love about short form, non-fourth wall entertainment, or essentially fast little variety things, is that it’s down to the performers themselves.
… But if you have a performer, a well-rounded performer, who is able to adapt to their environment, who has been honing that craft for years, you’re fine. … Right now, everything is a lot, everywhere, all the time, continually. So, what we all need is just a lovely, friendly, happy, “Wow, look at that, that was nice,” kind of space. Nothing more, nothing less. Like, no politics, no opinions—just give me a good time. the whole room. In terms of emceeing, everyone is di erent, but for me a part of that is also seating the house when they come in. ... Then the other part, I think, is there is an intimacy that I’ve ended up doing for years where wandering just becomes a part of what you do.
I think the entertainment I have done over the years, ranging from fetish nightclubs to street performing to alt cabaret to circuses, there’s always been an aspect of, if you can’t really connect with your audience, you’ve got nothing. And particularly with the skill set I have—I am not someone who can pull out a double roundo , triple backflip back somersault, which you can view near or far. So, for me, it’s sort of part and parcel of how I am e ective and how I enjoy that connection and entertain the masses. Because I’ve done that for so long, that is now both my area of expertise, in a sense, but also my area of passion. … I think in this day and age, the AI-everything world, it brings us to a deeper place without it being deep.

The show must go on for Donny Osmond after tragedy strikes his famous family
By Matt Kelemen
Donny Osmond did not experience the best start to the new year. After he spent Christmas in Edinburg, Scotland playing Pharaoh in a U.K. revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, his clan experienced the loss of brother Wayne, who passed away Jan. 1 at 73 after su ering a stroke. (While Wayne was the fourth-oldest child, he was the second-oldest member of The Osmonds.) Donny, the seventh oldest, memorialized Wayne on social media the next day, then braced himself to return to the Las Vegas stage for his long-running headlining show.
Wayne gets his due at Donny Osmond, the residency, when Donny harmonizes with his brothers via video enhancement in
one of the show’s many highlights. Osmond dances with representations of his siblings, allows the audience to pick an album from his catalog for him and his live band to perform, demonstrates his rapping ability, and makes room for dancing dynamo Miki Catherine to kick up her heels.
Although Osmond may still perform with a heavy heart, his show is a joyous occasion that includes songs and stories about his brothers and sister Marie. Wayne performed in a barbershop quartet that included Merrill, Alan and Jay. The group became a quintet when Osmond, practically born to sing, joined the group.
By the early ’70s the brothers had switched to pop and had their first big hit
with “One Bad Apple.” That song written by George Jackson, who penned Bob Seger’s hit “Old Time Rock & Roll,” went to No. 1 in 1971 and made The Osmonds superstars. Donny, who sang the high part of the dual lead, covers the song in concert with his adult voice comfortably rendering the parts Merrill sings on the single.
The song became the opening theme to a Saturday-morning animated series.
The Osmonds played concerts in arenas and were pictured in posters hanging on bedroom walls of teen female fans across the country. More hits came such as “Yo-Yo” and rocking “Down by the Lazy River” from 1971 album Phase III before Osmond began scoring solo singles such as “Puppy Love” and “Go Away Little Girl.”

Chart success for Osmond segued into prime-time television success as he teamed with his younger sister for ABC variety series Donny & Marie. The show was a hit, but variety shows would soon reach a saturation point and disappear from the airwaves.

The siblings’ chemistry was revived when they opened a long-running residency at Flamingo in 2008. They quickly became a top draw on the Strip, with their faces adorning the property’s streetside exterior. Donny came back solo after that show’s final curtain, but he’s no nostalgia act. His show is a blast, featuring all The Osmonds’ hits plus his own comeback single, “Soldier of Love.” It’s as if he was born to be a Las Vegas headliner.

Neon Museum collaboration celebrates the vivid history of Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas
By Matt Kelemen
The Grand Gallery inside Las Vegas City Hall has hosted many art exhibits and more than a few previews and opening nights. Few have been as emblematic of Las Vegas as a cultural crossroads where artistic excellence and performance must balance with box o ce success as Stories from Backstage: Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas. A collaboration with Neon Museum, the exhibition delves deep into the evolution of athlete into artist, characters into costume concepts and fantasy into functional footwear.
speech in February, where museum members gathered along with VIPs such as Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley and Mike Newquist, Cirque du Soleil’s president of resident and a liate shows.
“Whether you have seen a Cirque du Soleil show or not, this is relevant to you,” said Neon Museum executive director Aaron Berger during the preview’s keynote
Berger recognized chief curator and Neon Museum deputy director Sarah Hulme for coordinating the e ort. “The Cirque du Soleil team worked tremendously hard with her team to bring forth the costume designers, the dressers, the stories, the oral histories,” he said before calling for a round of applause.
Every show in Cirque’s current Strip portfolio is represented at Stories, which runs through May 1. Iconic costuming such as the Red Bird from Mystère and Moonhead

mask from “O” are featured. Makeup designs for Michael Jackson ONE are demonstrated and skin-matching swatches for bodysuits are beautifully displayed.
There are also instructions on how to juggle a person as featured in the acrobatic Icarian Games from Mad Apple, insights into what it’s like for athletes to transition from Olympic podium to performance, and a moving tribute to Dominique Lemieux, the accomplished costume designer who passed away last year.
Neon Museum considers Stories to be a “cornerstone” of its April 2427 architecture-and-design event Duck Duck Shed. The correlations between attention-grabbing neon and audience-dazzling costuming, or detailed resort interiors with Cirque stage productions, are made emphatically clear in the Grand Gallery exhibits.
“Everybody in the city that comes to City Hall on business has an opportunity to observe this extraordinary exhibit,” said Berkley after Newquist expressed his gratitude to the assembled guests. “Cirque is so much a part of Las Vegas and our history, and it’s absolutely breathtaking.”
She remarked how she’s seen

every production, and every time she returns she sees something di erent. Stories shows something di erent about Cirque du Soliel that people who may have only seen one or two shows can relate to. Audiences may see the athleticism, but may not be cognizant of the path of the podium-to-performance pipeline. They may be drawn into fantasy by fantastic characters but unaware of the expertise behind the processes of their creation.
Stories from Backstage: Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas aims to enlighten the intentional visitor along with passersby who happen upon the exhibition and are drawn in by the purposeful pageantry, elaborate displays and elaborative insights. It’s the right exhibition in the right place at the right time.

Garth Brooks heads toward the final shows of his covers-rich Plus ONE residency
By Matt Kelemen
It’s been more than 15 years since Garth Brooks came out of performing retirement in Las Vegas. Although he had made several public appearances and multidate concert runs in Kansas City and Los Angeles since announcing his sabbatical, it wasn’t until the fall of 2009 that he made a full career comeback with a critically acclaimed headlining gig. Now as he approaches the end of his Garth Brooks/Plus ONE at The Colosseum, Brooks has three words for the possibility of a future return: “Never say never.”
So if Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood don’t set up residence in Ireland, where they are considering buying a house (as he disclosed during a Facebook livestream in October), he has the option to continue being the Elvis of country music, at least in Las Vegas. And as Presley ruled the pop charts of the ’50s and early ’60s, Brooks will always be the undisputed king of country’s 1990s to early 2000s era.
Garth Brooks/Plus ONE could have been a straight career retrospective showcase threaded through a biographical narrative, but Brooks has been taking chances ever since his Garth at Wynn sets at Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Theater kicked o Dec. 11, 2009, when he opted for an acoustic show featuring Yearwood. Friends in low places that come to the Strip experience one of its more unorthodox headlining gigs, with Brooks varying his sets show to show and playing covers of songs by artists like Bob Seger and Billy Joel.
They may witness Yearwood appear onstage to duet with Brooks on her 1997 single “In Another’s Eyes.”
Fans that attended Brooks’ final Caesars show of 2024 requested Yearwood’s 1991 song “She’s in Love With
the Boy” and 1992 single “Walkaway Joe.” Brooks and Yearwood also covered “Shallow” from A Star is Born
The covers are a major factor in making Garth Brooks/Plus ONE feel spontaneous. Brooks has opened shows with Seger’s “Against the Wind” and Otis Redding’s “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay.” He’s performed Joel’s “Shameless” from 1991 album Ropin’ the Wind and played “Piano Man” mid-set. George Strait, The Oak Ridge Boys, David Allen Coe, Nitty Gritty Dirt band and Keith Whitley have all been paid tribute by Brooks in The Colosseum.
Brooks performs solo and with his band, who back him through classics such as “The River,” “The Thunder Rolls” and “The Dance,” as well as deeper cuts requested by the audience like “The Red Strokes,” “Alabama Clay” and “Every Time That It Rains.” He’s also played “Ireland” from 1995 album Fresh Horses, which may whet that notion to relocate to the Emerald Isle once the latest extension of Garth Brooks/Plus ONE concludes in March.
That doesn’t mean Brooks is done with Vegas. As long as the demand is there he’ll likely return for future residencies in some form or fashion, but in order to get a chance to catch him covering The Isley Brother’s “Shout,” it’s best to see him live now, while he’s still taking requests.
