When Larry Ruvo, senior managing director of southern Wine & Spirits, and Dr. Jerry Vallen, founding dean of the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, came up with the notion of UNLVino ® 40 years ago, they couldn’t possibly have predicted the size and success of the event you see today. The goal has always been to raise funds for the hotel college while at the same time allowing people to experience the simple pleasures of life over a glass of wine. The event began as a small affair in the Southern Wine & Spirits warehouse. Since then, it has expanded to larger and more sophisticated venues, and serves the palates of thousands of guests. The UNLVino® Grand Tasting is now one of the largest wine tasting events in the country and is undeniably one of the most unique and spectacular university fundraisers to be found anywhere. The money UNLVino ® has raised over the years has supported hundreds of students in their studies to become some of the premier leaders in the hotel and hospitality industry worldwide. Many students can attribute at least

part of their future success to their participation in running UNLVino®. This year, the 40th annual UNLVino® will be most impressive to date by expanding to four days of unique events. For 2014, the Sip 'n Savor event at Celebrity Chef Wolfgang Puck's Spago restaurant and the Founders' Grand Tasting at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health were added. Of course, the events included in UNLVino® would not be possible without the dedication and donations of the suppliers, the hosting properties, the staff and management of Southern Wine & Spirits, and last but not least, the faculty and students of the hospitality school. We wish to give a heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of volunteers working each event because without them the execution of UNLVino® would be impossible. Likewise, we wish to thank you, our loyal guests and greatest supporters; without you, this event would certainly not have come to fruition. We invite you to celebrate 40 fabulous years with this time-honored tradition, and raise a glass as we take a Sip for Scholarship!

From the Dean It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 40th annual UNLVino®. In 1974, Larry Ruvo, senior managing director of Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada, and Jerry Vallen, dean emeritus of the UNLV College of Hotel Administration, created an event that continues today to provide significant annual fundraising to support UNLV students. With the assistance of Caesars Entertainment, Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada, the Venetian, Wolfgang Puck, and the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, and many vendors, we continue to raise thousands of dollars for the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration each year. These funds have been used to help hundreds of students succeed in reaching their academic goals. In fact, since 2000 approximately 600 students have received over 1.1 million in scholarships as a result of outstanding support from the community for this event. None of this could be accomplished without the generosity of our sponsors and attendees. While we are proud that the Grand Tasting continues to be one of the largest single-day wine tastings in the nation, it is amazing to see how the events have continued to evolve beyond the Grand Tasting into a multi-day lifestyle event with worldclass venues, food, and entertainment. We are honored that Wolfgang Puck, Jerry Vallen, Larry Ruvo and Romero Britto will be joining us to accept their Dom Perignon awards of excellence. It is wonderful that so many alumni and friends come back year after year to celebrate this remarkable series of events with us. Thank you for joining me in taking a “Sip for Scholarship.”

From the Governor As Governor of the State of Nevada, it is with distinct pleasure that I welcome you all to the 40th Annual UNLVino®. Thank you to those who have worked hard to put this successful event together. This event is sponsored in partnership between Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada and the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). UNLVino® is an annual tradition for many and helps to support the advancement of higher education in our state. I commend those that have helped to put this event together, acting as an example of how successful and beneficial partnerships between public and private institutions can be. The proceeds from this four-day event will help raise millions of scholarship dollars for students of UNLV's William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration. Congratulations to those individuals being honored throughout UNLVino®, and I hope you all enjoy this wonderful event. Sincere regards,

Brian Sandoval

R E T R O V I N O UNLVino® began in 1974 as a small tasting event where a few wine lovers and winemakers met in the warehouse of Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada. By the early 2000s, it had grown to more than 125 suppliers pouring more than 700 wines for nearly 9,000 guests at the Paris Las Vegas hotel-casino. Today, UNLVino® is the largest single-day tasting event in the country and the largest fundraising effort for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. UNLVino® grew as the university grew. Wine distributors became acquainted with UNLV’s Hotel College through its wine class. Among them was Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada’s Senior Managing Director, Larry Ruvo. Mr. Ruvo is the originator of UNLVino® and its chief sponsor. Today, suppliers from all around the world — at Mr. Ruvo’s invitation — attend the event on their own time, paying for hotel rooms and airfare to support the cause. Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada gathers and transports all of the wines and beverages to the event venues.

Robert Mondavi speaks on the health benefits of wine at the first UNLVino®.

In 1983, he traveled to Paris where he was introduced to the work of Matisse and Picasso. In the following year, he was selected alongside Andy Warhol and Keith Haring for Absolut Vodka’s “Absolut Art” campaign. Nevada Chapter, a former member of the World Presidents’ Organization, Bailli of the Chaine des Rotisseurs in Las Vegas, and a member of the Bluecoats in Nevada (an organization established to help families of firemen and police officers killed in the line of duty). He serves as a Board Member of the Nevada Ballet Dance Theatre and a Board Member of the American Gaming Association (AGA). He is a founding member of the Nevada Tourism Alliance as well as the Council for a Better Nevada. He is a supporter of numerous philanthropic endeavors in Nevada as well as nationally and internationally. In 1994, after the loss of his father, Lou Ruvo, to Alzheimer’s disease, Larry made it his mission to make a positive change and hopefully cure the devastating diseases of Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and A.L.S. Ruvo worked towards establishing a cognitive disease center, which resulted in his funding of The Lou Ruvo Brain Institute. The institute is unique in its bold mission: to establish the international gold standard in the treatment of patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s and in supporting their caregivers. The founding of Keep Memory Alive and now its partnership with the esteemed Cleveland Clinic will forever change medical history in Nevada and around the world. The $100 million-plus

Mohsen Azizsoltani unlv event director During the early nineties, i had to make a decision: make good use of my two engineering degrees, continue on as a professional hotelier/restaurateur or seek a teaching career and follow my natural instinct doing what I always wanted to do. It was not an easy decision. While debating which choice would be best, I asked myself a basic question. Why is teaching important to me? I gradually obtained all the answers I needed after I joined the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration as a faculty member in 1994. That same year, I was appointed director of UNLVino® for the College which gave me the opportunity to closely work with both Southern Wine and Spirits staff and our students, to raise scholarship funds. This unique opportunity has created and provided true handson training for our students, both management and line services, cannot be matched by any classroom teaching. Each year, I have had the privilege of teaching the UNLVino® Management class, a diverse group of approximately 24 very talented students who have been hand-picked to assist us with the planning, organizing, and execution of UNLVino®. In addition to the student managers, approximately 600 more students volunteer each year to help with UNLVino® and expand their education by learning the practical aspects of their degree at UNLV.

[ 18 ]

As the revenues from wine and spirits have become extremely important in our industry, I firmly believe that educating both our students and the consumers is the key to a successful hospitality operation. Nothing makes me happier to look back on my 20 years of service to UNLVino® and see how blessed I have been to contribute to our students’ education, their hands-on hospitality experiences, to so many scholarships and educating our guests on how to make better beverage purchases. Moreover, in my past 20 years of UNLVino®, I have met many wonderful people, in particular at Southern Wine and Spirits, who truly care about our program, our students, and the community by providing generous donations and full support. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to work with and learn from many great people and organizations that support UNLVino®. Time flies! The 40th anniversary of UNLVino® is here. Much preparation has gone towards this year’s four events and many organizations and students have been involved in the process to honor the founders. I feel extremely lucky to be a part of UNLVino® for the past 20 years, and to be able to contribute to the recognition of Mr. Ruvo and Dr. Vallen who truly revolutionized the perception and consumption of wines in Las Vegas and provided financial assistance to many our best and brightest. Cheers and enjoy your evening.

Romero Britto cover artist Romero Britto was born in Recife, Brazil, and moved to Miami, nearly 25 years ago where he started creating and selling his works on the streets of Coconut Grove, an historic neighborhood in Miami. While in Coconut Grove, he painted on newspaper and often used his fingers to replace paintbrushes. Since then, Romero has developed his artistic visual language, to include 3-D sculpture, mixed media, serigraphs and digital prints. His work has evolved over the years, but the message of happiness remains. Since then, he has collaborated with companies such as Disney, Coca Cola and Mattel. Currently, he is represented in more than 100 galleries worldwide and this year he will serve as the 2014 FIFA World Cup ambassador. His public works include exhibits in cities such as Sao Paolo, Beijing, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Moscow, New York and London’s Hyde Park. Romero’s mission is to share happiness with the world as well as give back through his philanthropic efforts. Romero has supported thousands of global charities during this career and the UNLVino® event is an event his passionate and excited to participate in year after year. “I am thrilled and honored to participate in the UNLVino® event again this year, I look forward to it every year! I commend Larry Ruvo and Jerry Valen on their admirable work and the funds they raise for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Congratulations to my friends Larry and Jerry, as well as the entire Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada team, on the 40th anniversary of this incredible event for an incredible cause!” Romero finds inspiration in the simple things in life; he finds happiness and joy in everything he experiences, from a simple sunset to a loving couple. The words happiness and love are synonymous with his works. Many would consider his work, pop art. Other pop artists, include, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Roy Lichtenstein. Romero admires the work of Picasso, Matisse, Warhol and Haring. Yet he’s also inspired by other artists such as Pollock, Leger, Dali and DaVinci. Romero is first and foremost an artist, a creative being. Britto’s flagship gallery, Britto Central, has been on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach for 20 years. Britto has five concept stores – three onboard Royal Caribbean ships and two at the Miami International Airport. Romero’s work has been displayed on every continent and now, thanks to UNLVino® for the month of April, Romero will feature his art for the first time in Las Vegas with “Vegas inspired originals” and Limited Edition prints in a Britto Pop Up Store in the Venetian hotel that opened April 10.

Career Highlights: In 1989, Absolut Vodka commissioned Romero to be part of the now famous Absolut Vodka campaign. He was the first unknown artist at the time to be part of such a prestigious group, which included Andy Warhol and Keith Haring. This was the single most important collaboration of Romero’s career. As a child, Romero Britto was dazzled by the beauty he found in Disney animated films. In October 1997, Britto’s childhood aspirations came true when he was invited to attend the Walt Disney Art Classics Preferred Gallery Forum at Disneyland to unveil his newest Disney-inspired serigraph, Mickey Mouse’s Greatest Love. Currently, Romero Britto is among a select group of established and emerging artists chosen by Disney to create inspired, artistic visions of their famous characters and properties. With his bright and cheerful interpretations, Britto’s Disney-inspired serigraphs are a perfect fit for the Walt Disney Art Classics Fine Art Program. The Disney Britto Collection of licensed products captures the fun and whimsy of Disney in the bold and colorful design of Romero Britto, creating inspired and artistic interpretations of the famous characters and properties. Britto is credited with the largest temporary public art installation in Hyde Park history. The Britto pyramids celebrated the return of King Tut’s exhibit to England. This event also included Britto’s largest children’s paint party with over 2000 children.

Fab 372: A Taste of Managing UNLVino® by cheyenne vallette unlvino® management team In the spring of 2014, after a series of recruitment and interviews conducted by faculty advisors and coordinators, a team of outstanding students enrolled in FAB 372, UNLVino® Management course. Disguised as a three-credit course, UNLVino® Management offers the students an experience based curriculum with a rare opportunity to develop managerial and leadership skills. The students act as managers, organizing and monitoring every aspect of the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration’s largest annual fundraising event, UNLVino®. UNLVino® strives to highlight wine, beers, and spirits in order to develop quality education and provide opportunities for students in unique ways. The 40th UNLVino® is the most impressive to date as the event has expanded to feature four days of world-class food and variety of beverages tastings for the first time. As early as November 2013 when they are selected, students begin to meet and to contact sponsors such as local restaurants and businesses, recruit hundreds of student volunteers, plan menus and develop recipes, solicit donations for the auctions, raffle and food products, work as liaisons with the health department and market the event. “Take a sip for scholarship.” Our motto suggests that UNLVino’s® contribution to education goes beyond its events. The scholarship dollars raised from the events each year are used extensively to enhance hotel students’ education in numerous ways. Not only do they fund tuition for hundreds of students over the years through its established endowment, funds have also been invested to upgrade the teaching facility and provide other student development opportunities such as sponsoring students to compete in culinary competitions such as “S. Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef,” and traveling to the National Restaurant Association show in Chicago. Led by the expertise and guidance of Professor Mohsen Azizsoltani and Chef Mark Sandoval, students each took to their own roles and responsibilities within their assigned team: marketing, events, culinary, safety, and raffles and auctions. Working along with professionals from Southern Wine & Spirits, Kirvin Doak Communications and JGS Liaisons, these 24 students worked diligently to plan, promote, produce, solicit, recruit, organize and execute the four events. Professor Azizsoltan, who is the UNLV team director, coordinates the relationship and communication between the class and sponsors, supervises the event and special teams. The culinary team, headed by Chef Sandoval, solicits donations of all the food products served and works for days before the event to supervise the food production. To the student managers, UNLVino® Management is a once-in-alifetime opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience. The level

of responsibility the students receive in planning UNLVino® is truly eye opening and creates an academic-enhancing and career-inspiring leadership experience. There is no similar course at other institutions that could possibly provide a curriculum such as this at an undergraduate level. One ultimate goal the student managers strive for is to successfully present four days of festivities that can offer the thousands of attendees an unparalleled education through sampling an amazing array of food and beverage selections. To the hundreds of student volunteers recruited, their opportunities are endless the moment they join UNLVino®. The volunteers assume a variety of roles specializing in assisting in beverage, culinary or event duties during the series of our programs. These roles may seem simple; however, they are the backbone to the operational success of our events. Immediately after recruiting, the student managers begin supporting these volunteers to become proficient at the roles they sign up for. Volunteering for UNLVino® allows students to gain real-world experience in hospitality and network with professionals in the industry. Like an exquisitely crafted Cuvee wine, the UNLVino® management team is a blend of complexity in characters and diversity. Diversity remains a priority and highlight in building this year’s team of student managers. The 2014 class of managers come from varied backgrounds, culture, age, and experiences. Besides Las Vegas residents, the class consists of students from California, Hawaii and other U.S. states. Many also come from countries such as Poland, Brazil, Taiwan, China and Indonesia. The class also has its fair share of nontraditional students coming back to college after many years of full-time employment in fields such as restaurant operations, event management, and culinary. In the past, on the culinary team, several students received recognition for their talent through prominent competitions such as “S. Pellegrino Almost Chef” and scholarships from groups such as the Epicurean Charitable Foundation and Hilton Hotel. Everyone has something to bring to the table, and the high engagement and interaction generated a high level of synergy in the team. Being a FAB 372 student is an extraordinarily rewarding experience. Everyone makes a significant impact on the events. Along with the production of the events, there is a great extent of commitment, excitement, and exhilarating amount of emotion and feeling of accomplishment involved with the process. After months of hard work and dedication, we’re proud to present you with the 40th annual UNLVino® – the best ever yet!

Francesco has the ingredients – the education, the expertise, the enthusiasm – to stir up his audiences and pour on the charm as he schools the world on the finer points of fine drinking. After all, his motto is, “We’re not drinking, we’re learning.” J.R. Starkus has been a key player in Las Vegas’ cocktail industry for the last decade. As a seasoned mixology competitor, he has taken first place in several competitions in conjunction with the United States Bartenders’ Guild, including the Campari Best Aperitivo Competition, Don Q Mix It Up Ultimate Mixology Challenge, the Ultimate Las Vegas Cocktail Competition and the Angostura Bitters National Competition. J.R. has worked in many well-known hotel bars; in 2012, he signed on to join the Southern Wine & Spirits Mixology Team. J.R. draws much of his inspiration from his mentor, Francesco, and believes in utilizing seasonal and sustainable

ingredients. Focused on crafting fresh, greattasting and approachable cocktails, J.R. provides guests with a memorable experience, while also opening up their palettes to new flavors. Since joining Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada in January 2013, Leann Kruger has been a breath of fresh air to the Southern Wine Mixology Team. She not only brings her experience, but also continues to keep up with ever changing cocktail trends and culture. Her experience roots from working in some of the most popular nightclubs and fine dining establishments in Las Vegas. Leann completed the Academy of Spirits and Fine Service course, a 12-week education program founded by Francesco, in 2009 with the Best Student award. No one since has surpassed her perfect final test score. Leann’s approach is unique and adds a chic touch to every cocktail program and has catapulted her to the forefront of the mixology world in Las Vegas.

wine consumer in the world has a long history of wine production. The first wines were made in Senecu, New Mexico by Spanish missionaries in 1629. On the west coast, California, Oregon and Washington, combined, produce 95% of the total wine made. California has four distinct growing areas: the southern region near San Diego, the great central valley, the central coast and the northern area above San Francisco Bay. California has the ability to produce almost any varietal and excels at most. The wines produced exhibit a fresh and fruity spirit, a result of the wonderful growing conditions. Oregon, with a wetter climate, produces excellent pinot noirs and pinot gris’. Washington state, the country’s second largest maker of wine, makes textbook cabernet sauvignon and syrah. On the east coast, New York state produces delicious rieslings in the Finger Lakes region and merlot on the north fork of Long Island.

Ann Noble and her colleagues at University of California, Davis developed the Aroma Wheel in the early 1980s to help solve this challenge. Everyone is capable of recognizing more than 1,000 smells. Matching words to these smells is a deceptively difficult task. The Aroma Wheel helps set up the mind as a filing cabinet. The wheel begins with basic categorizations, such as

The final, tertiary level of the wheel lists 87 very specific aromas, all of which can be discovered in wine, including Geranium (Floral), Cabbage (Sulfur) and Black Currant (Berry). The Aroma Wheel is effective but not complete. Since a person’s olfactory repertoire is based on memory, these terms are not designed to be subjective. It is a tool for understanding a myriad of aromas and for helping identify and describe them in wine. G

Francis Ford Coppola Winery

In 1973 Joe Phelps bought a 600-acre cattle ranch in Spring Valley, and began planting vineyards. His winery was completed in 1974 and the first Insignia blend was produced. It put Joe Phelps on the map of top Napa Valley wine producers. Over the years, the goal of becoming 100% estate grown resulted in carefully planned acquisitions of prime vineyards in the Napa Valley. Today, the Phelps estate consists of 7 prime vineyard locations in 6 different AVA’s in Napa. Through the years, Joe searched for the ideal spot to grow both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and his search ended when the perfect location was found in Freestone, located on the Sonoma Coast. Today, 80 acres of Pinot Noir and 20 acres of Chardonnay produce estate-grown wines bearing the Joseph Phelps name.

Home of wine, food & adventure. In order to give our Francis Coppola wine brands a home, in 2006 we purchased the former Chateau Souverain winery, a large hospitality and winemaking facility in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County. Here, visitors can enjoy picturesque scenery and lively tours and wine tastings. They can relax in the cafĂŠ over an espresso, hone their tasting skills with flights of wine, or enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in our restaurant, Rustic. In addition, significant renovations continue to transform the property into a destination day resort. Visitors can swim, play bocce, enjoy live music, order food from the alfresco grill and peruse the movie memorabilia museum.

Trinchero Family Estates More than sixty years ago, Mario Trinchero, a young Italian immigrant with winemaking in his blood, left New York City and headed West to the Napa Valley where he hoped to build a better life for his wife, Mary, and their three children, Bob, Vera, and Roger. Soon after arriving in California, Mario and his brother John purchased a St. Helena winery that had been abandoned during Prohibition, and together, they began building a dream. Over the years, Mario and his family persevered, often struggling to make ends meet, but eventually, the Trinchero family became one of the greatest success stories Napa Valley has ever known. To honor their heritage and long history in the Valley, the family established Trinchero Napa Valley Winery dedicated to producing luxury-class, single-vineyard wines.

Trefethen

In 1968, the Trefethen family purchased seven farms surrounding a magnificent, but run-down, 19th-century winery in southern Napa Valley and created Trefethen Family Vineyards. True to the family’s vision of creating an acclaimed wine estate, they have never purchased outside grapes and are leaders in sustainable winegrowing. Today, the Trefethen family’s third generation, Loren and Hailey, assist their parents in continuing the family tradition of passion for the land, its people and the art of crafting exceptional Napa Valley wines. Reflecting the relatively cool climate of the Oak Knoll District, the classic wines have great finesse and are food-friendly.

Freixenet USA Freixenet (pronounced “fresh-eh-net”), best known for its “black bottle bubbly” Cordon Negro, is a family-owned company that grew from humble beginnings in rural Catalunya. The roots of Freixenet stretch back to 1861 and are embedded in the history of two longstanding winemaking families, the Ferrers and the Salas, whose expertise, determination and ingenuity intertwined to form the foundation of the company that today is the world leader in méthode champenoise sparkling wines. While Freixenet may be the largest maker of traditional method sparkling wine, quality remains our number one objective. The company focuses solely on méthode champenoise wines, and continually innovates and invests in the latest winemaking technology to ensure a consistent, excellent product. The proof, as they say, is in the bottle: today, the most often popped corks in the world say “Freixenet.”

Inglenook The Inglenook legacy began in 1879 when Gustave Niebaum, a Finnish sea captain, wine connoisseur and entrepreneur, came to Rutherford to build a wine estate that would rival Europe’s finest. When Niebaum’s grandnephew, John Daniel, Jr. inherited the chateau and vineyards in the 1930s, Inglenook had already earned international acclaim, which was made legendary by the famed 1941 vintage. Francis and Eleanor Coppola purchased the property in 1975 and have spent forty years reuniting the original vineyards, returning winemaking operations to the chateau, and restoring Inglenook’s illustrious heritage with the help of renowned wine consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt and Managing Director and Winemaker Philippe Bascaules. In honor of this estate and its historical significance, we have restored the name INGLENOOK.

Wagner Family of Wine In 1972, Chuck Wagner joined his parents, Charlie and Lorna, when they decided to bring their home winemaking talents into the world of professional vintners and establish Caymus Vineyards. Production in Rutherford, California began with redwood fermenting tanks that resembled hot tubs and a few barrels given to the Wagners by neighbors Beaulieu Vineyards and Inglenook. After trying a few different varietals over the years, Caymus Vineyards is now a standard-bearer for Napa Valley Cabernet, producing a consistently rich, supple house style with Caymus Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon holding the unique honor of being twice-named Wine Spectator’s “Wine of the Year”.

Anchor Brewing Company

Savida Sangria

Anchor Brewing Company’s roots date back to the California gold rush making it one of America’s oldest breweries. Its Anchor Steam® Beer is San Francisco’s original since 1896. In 1965, Fritz Maytag acquired and revived the struggling brewery at a time when mass production of beer dominated and seemed unstoppable. Maytag started a revolution in beer that originated today’s craft beer movement. An undisputed icon, Anchor is America’s first craft brewery where beers are handmade in our traditional copper brewhouse from an all-malt mash.

SAVíDA is an all natural artisan sangria that is handcrafted in small batches to maintain quality and achieve a refreshing homemade taste. The only way to make delicious sangria is to start with high quality ingredients. We use varietal California wine you would enjoy drinking on its own. Then we blend in a unique combination of specialty fruits, which aren’t always easy to find. That’s it. Oh, and unlike homemade recipes or other bottled sangria, we don’t add any sugar. Red blends passion fruit, elderberry, strawberry, lime. White blends tangerine, peach, lemon, lime.

Cuvaison Cooled by fog from the San Pablo Bay, the rolling hills of this certified sustainable estate have produced distinctive Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines for over 30 years. Dedicated to a philosophy of producing vineyard-driven wines, Cuvaison employs block-by-block farming methods and a hand-crafted vineyard-to-bottle winemaking approach. The resulting wines are balanced and complex, showcasing the distinctive characteristics of this cool climate estate.

Pali Wine Company In 2005, entrepreneurs Tim Perr and Scott Knight pooled their resources and their passions to found a winery dedicated to producing small lots of artisan Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that they loved to drink. We established a state-of-the-art winery and tasting room in the town of Lompoc, CA and named the winery “Pali,” after our hometown Pacific Palisades on the coast just west of Los Angeles. Today, Pali Wine Co. produces a Cuvee series of wines defined by their appellation of origin and named for different neighborhoods in the Pacific Palisades. We also produce a very limited amount of vineyard-designate wines. Our goal is to make wines that speak well of their origin and their varietal, and to bring those wines to the consumer at the best price we can without compromising quality. While Pinot Noir remains our first love and a significant part of our production, we also produce a few other varietals when we have the opportunity to make a wine we think is worthy of sharing.

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery The story of Dogfish Head began in June of 1995 when we opened Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, the first state’s first brewpub opened in the resort beach community of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. The plan was to bring original beer, original food, and original music to the area. Not only was Dogfish Head Delaware’s first brewpub, it was the smallest commercial brewery in America. Our very first batch, Shelter Pale Ale, was brewed on a system which essentially was three little kegs with propane burners underneath. Brewing 12–gallon batches of beer for a whole restaurant proved to be more than a full time job. When the doors to the pub first opened, we brewed three times a day, five days a week! The one benefit to brewing on such a small system was the ability to try out a myriad of different recipes. We quickly got bored brewing the same things over and over – that’s when we started adding all sorts of weird ingredients and getting kind of crazy with the beers! - If you haven’t had the chance to taste Dogfish Head, find a beer, track down one of our spirits or visit one of our restaurants! You will see why international beer writer Michael Jackson called Dogfish Head “America’s most interesting and adventurous small brewery.”

C Mondavi & Family Now under the guidance of Peter Mondavi Sr., the Charles Krug Winery honors its roots while forging ahead to the future. From the Wild West to the twenty-first century, relatively crude beginnings gave way to the finest form of winemaking. Founded in 1861 by Charles Krug, the 27-year old Prussian immigrant came to America with little besides willpower and a willingness to work hard to build the cornerstone of the first winery in the Napa Valley. He became the major local winery figure of his era, greatly influencing Napa Valley’s development as a world-renown wine producing region. His leadership was said to be inspirational and his ideas innovative. Charles Krug introduced the cider press for winemaking, the first of which is still on display at the winery. He carefully selected rootstocks, varietals and vineyard sites a novel concept in late 19th century America. Above all else, Charles Krug Winery is a family winery. Peter Sr. and his sons Marc and Peter Jr. continue their dedication to producing the finest Bordeaux style wines in the Napa Valley.

Flora Springs Winery & Vineyards In 1977, when we began the restoration of the century old ghost winery on the Flora Springs Estate, we understood the art of winemaking, but we were only beginning to understand the magic in our vineyards. For over thirty years we have served as stewards to our nine sustainably and organically farmed estate vineyards. We now know every corner of our land: how the light falls in late August, where the soils change, and which vineyard blocks ripen earliest. This identity of site dictates how we farm, and in turn, how we make the wine. By respecting this identity, we craft elegant and powerful wines that reflect the place from which they originate. Trends will come and go, but our muse will always be the land.

Folio Fine Wine Partners Our family established Folio Fine Wine Partners in 2004 with the goal of bringing exceptional and distinctive wines to American consumers. Today, we are an importer, fine wine agency and producer of quality wines. We manage a diverse portfolio that spans five countries, two continents and every premium price point, and we’re fortunate to work with family wineries who share our passion for making great wine. Wine has been our family business for four generations. It began when Cesare Mondavi, an Italian immigrant, began a grape growing business in Lodi, California during Prohibition. Our Napa Valley roots were established in 1943 when the family purchased the historic Charles Krug winery. Cesare’s son, Robert, later started his own winery with Michael, his eldest son. The Robert Mondavi Winery helped establish California as the premiere winegrowing region it is today. Now the legacy continues with Folio Fine Wine Partners.

Cline Cellars In the latter part of the 1800s, Oakley, Contra Costa County was a booming farming community with thousands of acres of orchards and healthy vineyards. Fred Cline’s maternal grandfather, Valeriano Jacuzzi of pump and spa fame, called this place home. On summer visits to his grandparents, Fred learned both the love of agricultural life and the mysteries of vinifying grapes into wine. These lessons led Fred to obtain a degree in Agriculture Management from U.C. Davis. In 1982, with an inheritance from his grandfather, Fred founded Cline Cellars near Oakley, California. Here, he preserved and restored many ancient vine sites to their rightful reign as premier California wine lands. In 1991, Fred and his wife Nancy relocated the winery from Oakley to the Carneros region of Sonoma County on a historic 350-acre estate with new vineyards and facilities.

Dreyfus Ashby Of all the acclaimed wines in the world, what lifts some to a higher level? Dreyfus Ashby believes it is family. We believe in the passion and pride that flourish when father and sons work the same soil for generations, and the rich history and traditions that are passed down. These are the wines Dreyfus Ashby has sought out, hand-selected and exclusively imported for more than 60 years. A bit about our history: Dreyfus Ashby was founded in London more than seventy years ago. From the outset, Dreyfus Ashby devoted itself to dealing in superior wines from renowned family owned vineyards and estates. During the 1960’s Dreyfus Ashby evolved from a regional importer-wholesaler to a national importer selling its products to a network of wine and spirits wholesalers throughout the country.

Activate Drinks For us, taking vitamins every day had become more hassle than it was worth. Swallowing horse pills and dumping supplement powders into water bottles was just not cutting it. According to our proprietary research, Vitamins A, B5, B12, and C lose their potency sitting in water. By storing the active ingredients inside our unique cap, separate from the water, the ingredients stayed powerful, fresh and offered the convenient, all-in-one delivery method we were seeking. On that day, ACTIVATE was born – a great tasting product that contains 0 grams of sugar, 0 calories, no preservatives, and is naturally sweetened with Stevia.

Danone Waters of America Every drop of Evian Natural Spring Water begins as rain and snow falling high in the pristine French Alps. This water then spends at least 15 years slowly filtering through a vast, protective aquifer deep within the mountain. The aquifer consists of glacial sand and that is what gives Evian its unique taste and mineral composition.
