John and Elaine Daly on the steps of the Great House
Tobago is the tranquil sister to the bustling Trinidad, the southern most islands in the Caribbean. Trinidad and Tobago have a rich cultural heritage that is shown in the many festivals celebrated by the ethnically diverse population. This is showcased in Tobago in the carnival celebrations in the two days before Lent in the wildly popular Easter celebrations including the goat and crab racing and in the Tobago Heritage Festival. Famous throughout the world for its pristine rainforest (the oldest protected rainforest in the western hemisphere!), its beautiful beaches and friendly people, Tobago is an ideal holiday destination for those who want a quiet getaway or an exciting fun-filled vacation. Tobago has become a soughtafter location for investment opportunities, especially for those looking for holiday villas or second homes. Caribbean Estates, Lands & Villas is a well-established real estate company and villa rental agency. We invite you here to take a look at the beautiful properties we have to offer for sale and rent throughout Tobago to the discerning investor and traveller.
If John Daly were alive today he would strut proudly around the 50 acres of Hope Estate and show you ‘his beach, his coconut trees, his amazing views’. The estate was home to the Daly family for decades prior to hurricane Flora in 1963. There, John and his wife Elaine ran a coconut plantation, raised livestock and even ran the small and intimate Green Sands Hotel. The old estate roads and retaining walls still stand today as convincing evidence of the care and strong materials used in their construction. It is this philosophy and proud history of the estate that John’s family has brought forward to today and applied to the newest residential/holiday home community in Tobago. The new Hope Estate, located on the very same grounds, will be a gated community and boasts of over five acres of green/recreational space, professionally landscaped grounds, underground utilities, a commercial zone intended to house amenities for the residents and most importantly various scenic views that are sadly absent from most similar communities in Tobago. The developer, International Project Initiatives Ltd is run by the great-nephew of the Dalys, who insists on using the most sustainable methods in the construction of the estate. To this end, the planning and architectural philosophies of the worldrenowned Colin Laird through his protégé Gregory Salandy have been applied to the design of the development. Its implementation is being overseen by the exceptionally experienced and reputable Mr. William Agard. The realization of this community is a dream coming true for many; including all of the 38 landowners who
have invested to date. According to Nicole Paddington –Manager of Corporate Services, ‘The land sells itself once people see it. However, being outside of the traditional ‘tourist’ areas of Crown Point and Bon Accord it takes a little more convincing to get people here. We have to explain to many callers that Hope is just 5 minutes away from Scarborough yet it possesses a Tobago country-like charm that distinguishes it from the more popular developments.’ As such, the entire Hope Estate Team insists that anyone considering investing in land in Tobago must see what Hope Estate has to offer. Plots in phase 2 of the development are currently on sale at pre-development prices however, this offer is limited and prices are expected to increase once the infrastructure on phase 1 is completed. Guided tours can be arranged by calling 360-HOPE (4673) and all of the information on the estate plans, the team, land prices, etc. can be found at www.hopeestatetobago.com.
