Greetings!
The Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) started off the year on a good note, having certified three new companies under the Permit to Use the Made in Guyana Standards Mark Programme, while one new laboratory joined the Laboratory Certification Programme. In addition, works continued with twenty-nine (29) companies which are receiving Technical Assistance from the GNBS to develop their systems in accordance with international standards
In January, the Bureau introduced the non-destructive testing of concrete structures, and commenced the verification and calibration of measuring instruments for the new year. Our Product Compliance team commenced the registration of importers, manufacturers and dealers and continued to monitor the products of these stakeholders. We also provided standards requested by various stakeholders and trained over sixty (60) persons on the requirements of various national and international standards. In February, the GNBS team participated in the International Energy Conference and Expo, the Regional Science Fair for schools in Georgetown, and outreaches to Regions Two, Six and Seven to promote the use of standards and accurate measurement services.
With the establishment of Regional Offices across Guyana, the GNBS is working to improve its efficiency and drive business growth in all sectors of the economy. As we work to create a culture of quality through standards in Guyana, we urge every stakeholder to continue with us on this journey
