T

he breakfast will follow the National Future Farmers of America (FFA) week to celebrate the agriculture economy and its partnership with the city community. As one of the top producing agricultural counties in Kentucky, Daviess County has a rich tradition of collaboration and cooperation for success. The program will include the presentation of the Farm City Humanitarian Award which recognizes an outstanding leader

whose life of ser vice improved the well-being of citizens throughout Owensboro and Daviess County. Tickets to the event can be purchased in advance at the Chamber Office or at the door for $6. Sponsorships for the event are available for $50. Please contact the Chamber at 270-926-1860 for more information. The featured speaker will be Adam Hinton, Vice President of Hinton Mills — an operation of five retail farm supply locations

and feed mills based out of Flemingsburg, KY. He also ser ves as Director of Kentucky Welding Institute, a private welding school in Flemingsburg, KY. Adam is founder

and President of A Better Community Foundation, a not-for-profit, grass roots fundraising and advocacy organization for agriculture education in Kentucky. Adam ser ves on the Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board, TENCO Workforce Development Board, Kentucky Farm Bureau’s Economic & Market Development Advisor y Committee, the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture Feed Advisor y Board, and as Chairman of the Kentucky FFA Foundation’s Board of Trustees. Adam is a graduate of the Kentucky Ag Leadership Program and is Kentucky’s first graduate of the American

Farm Bureau Federation Partners in Agriculture Leadership Program. He earned a B.A. in Economics from Centre College in 2000. Prior to working for Hinton Mills, Adam worked as Director of Sports Marketing & Promotions at Embr y-Riddle University and was the recipient of eight National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators awards.

Adam received his Sports Marketing Professional Certification from the University of Kentucky Sports Marketing Academy in 2003. Adam is also a partner in a coffee business and owns an insurance agency, The Hinton Agency, along with his wife, Melissa, who manages the business. The couple have one daughter, Addie.

Daviess County Farm Bureau and the Daviess County Cooperative Extension Service to co-sponsor February Rooster Booster Join us for Rooster Booster on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 a.m. at the Owensboro Convention Center. The breakfast will be co-sponsored by Daviess County Farm Bureau and the Daviess County Cooperative Extension Service. Over 96 years ago, the Daviess County Farm Bureau was established with just a handful of farmers and benefits were afforded to the farmer that he was not able to obtain by himself, or in any other group. In the first year they recruited and focused on adding an additional 100 members to boost their reach and influence. Today, our statewide membership is over 478,000 members, with over 10,600 members’ right here in Daviess County. The Daviess County Farm Bureau now has four offices to better serve our membership and our community.

The Daviess County Farm Bureau is very active in all legislative aspects of our county, state and national governments and we are, “The Voice of Kentucky Agriculture,” not only here in Daviess County but statewide. We sponsor and support the 4-H clubs, the FFA Chapters at our local high

Darrell takes gavel from Jenkins Bar ton D. Dar rell, president of Kentucky Wesleyan College is a 1984 Wesleyan graduate of Wesleyan, and he earned a juris doctor from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1987. He became president in September 2014 after ser ving 11 months as vice president of external ser vices at his alma mater. President Darrell served Wesleyan as a trustee and was associated with the law firm of Bell, Orr, Ayers & Moore in Bowling Green. He has represented school districts throughout Kentucky, including the Daviess County Public Schools and the Warren County Public Schools, where he served as general counsel. President Darrell is a director of the boards of the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airpor t, RiverPark Center and Greater Owensboro Economic Development Corporation. He was president of the Bowling Green-War ren County Bar Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the Bowling Green-War ren

County Chamber of Commerce, a founding director of the board of the Southern Kentucky Per forming Ar ts Center, chairman of the board for the American Red Cross, a member of the Governor’s Advisor y Council for Volunteer Ser vices and a member of the board of Leadership Kentucky. He was appointed by the governor to serve on Kentucky’s Council on Postsecondar y Education for four years and was the vice-chair in 2004. Dar rell was named “Kentucky’s Outstanding Young Lawyer” by the Kentucky Bar Association and one of forty “New Leaders for the 21st Centur y” for Kentucky by the Louisville Courier-Jour nal, Lexington HeraldLeader and the Shaker town Roundtable. He received the “Gwen Davis Award” from the Bowling GreenWar ren County Bar Association for his commitment to public service and community spirit and the “Clara Barton Honor Award for Meritorious Volunteer Leadership” by the American Red Cross.

We do this by presenting individuals and businesses with information to improve quality of life, develop strong leaders and volunteers, and promote economic stability. In an effort to reach all audiences of our community, our office consistently collaborates with numerous community partners. These programs are offered to the public, regardless of race, age, sex, religion, or national origin and provide practical knowledge and life skills to promote problem solving, sound decision making, communication skills, and selfimprovement.

Rod Kuegel to speak at February Rooster Booster Rod Kuegel is Chair of the Owensboro Riverport Authority Board. He is President for the Council for Burley Tobacco, Past President for Burley Tobacco Growers Cooperative and Past Chair of EDC. Rod is currently serving on the board for Independence Bank, Brescia University and the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce. Rod is co-owner of Kuegel Farms, LLC with his 92-year-old father, Bill, who is a former Owensboro Riverport Authority board member. He is a Sunday school teacher and Deacon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Rod resides in Daviess County with his wife Lois and farms with his sons Luke and Clay and his father Bill. He also has three wonderful granddaughters.
