Dr. Gary Ransdell to speak at June Rooster Booster breakfast Dr. Gary A. Ransdell was named the ninth president of Western Kentucky University on September 12, 1997. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from WKU in 1973 and 1974, followed by a Doctorate in Higher Education from Indiana University in 1978. President Ransdell and the WKU Board of Regents are leading the campus through a dramatic transformation, both in academic quality and the physical attributes of the campus. Under his leadership, enrollment has grown from 14,500 to more than 20,000 students, the University has experienced record support in private giving, and WKU has transformed from a university of regional importance to A Leading American University with International Reach. President Ransdell has served on the Board of Directors of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, the Board for the Inter-model Transportation Authority of South Central Ken-

CHAMBER MATTERS

WKU-Owensboro to sponsor June Rooster Booster The WKU Owensboro campus began with 82 students that met in only face-to-face classes. Today WKU Owensboro has more than 600 undergraduate and graduate students. Courses are offered in a variety of flexible delivery formats including face-to-face, interactive video services, online and on demand. WKU Owensboro currently offers 21 bachelor’s degrees, 26 master’s degrees and 35 undergraduate and graduate certificate programs that can be completed locally or online. Only offering upper-division courses, WKU Owensboro typically only serves transfer students who have met lower-level, general education requirements. For this reason, WKU has established Joint Admissions agreements with 10 community and technical college partners al-

lowing for a seamless transition to a bachelor’s degree. WKU Owensboro continues to grow and maintains its dedication in providing access to higher education to Owensboro and the surrounding communities. Higher education is very affordable when students complete their associate degree at an area community college and their bachelor’s degree at WKU Owensboro. But more than just providing students with a degree, WKU Owensboro strives to provide students with the skills and training that will ensure they become contributing citizens of the community. For more information about WKU Owensboro, please visit wku.edu/owensboro.
