OCTC 30th anniversary celebration kicks off at Rooster Booster

Owensboro Community & Technical College founded in 1986 is a public, two-year, open admissions college accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and is one of the sixteen colleges that make up the Kentucky Community & Technical College System. OCTC values innovation, is focused on student learning success, and is responsive to economic trends. OCTC students are from Daviess, Ohio, Hancock and McLean counties in Kentucky, but others travel from elsewhere in Kentucky and southern Indiana, attracted by the Advanced Technology Center and

other distinctive programs. Examples include the first two-year degree

program in Veterinary Technology in Kentucky, cutting edge training in alternative fuels, and the first Healthcare Facilities Leadership program in the country. The college encourages graduates to transfer and complete baccalaureate degrees by creating transfer pathways in all associate degree programs. OCTC is currently constructing phase two of the ATC, the Industry Innovation Center. This top community project will help OCTC address workforce needs for the foreseeable future and includes robotic welding and geothermal and solar technology. OCTC’s Workforce Solutions

works with business and industry partners on training, testing, and developing customized programs to meet industry specific needs. Programs include modularized training that can be administered through multiple device platforms and the GO FAME work and learn model which has been expanded to include other business sectors. OCTC is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with a special initiative to give back to the community and celebrate students and alumni. The details will be announced at the October Rooster Booster breakfast.
