DEC.
Shop Owensboro continues to grow The 2018 Shop Owensboro powered by Independence Bank was a great success! The Chamber added 100 more shopping bags to the kick-off event, where the Chamber and Independence Bank team passed out 600 total shopping bags between both the HWY 54 and Frederica Street Independence Bank locations. Over 60 local retailers participated in this year’s Shop Owensboro, with record numbers in sales for Small Business Saturday. The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce and Independence Bank would like to extend a “Thank You” to every participant for making this day so special for our community, as well as those who continue to Shop Owensboro first, today and every day. Keep your money where your heart is, Shop Owensboro!

Wendell Foster programs meet Trockman is featured multiple needs in community speaker at December Rooster Booster
R
ooster Booster is this Thursday, December 6 at 7:30 a.m. at the Owensboro Convention Center. Reservations can be made online at chamber@owensboro. com or by calling (270)926-1860. December’s Rooster Booster will feature guest speaker Ben Trockman and is sponsored by Wendell Foster. Wendell Foster is a multiservice agency located in the heart of Owensboro. Our services are known for supporting complex individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities; however, we are much more of a universal agency capable of supporting an array of individuals in need. Our portfolio of services include: • Residential: Supports delivered 24/7 via a 64-bed intermediate care facility; seven supported living homes; three adult foster care homes; four independent living homes and housing that is provided through lease opportunities to four additional supported living homes. • Outpatient: Services that provide physical, speech and occupational therapy to members of Wendell Foster and to the generic community. Services are provided to disabled and non-disabled. Services in this arena include an autism program and assistive technology. • Community-Based: In-home and community living supports; adult day program transportation services and an outreach education component to address community awareness. Due to an extensive waiting list for services and the anticipated increase in need for specialized supports, Wendell Foster has committed to a two-year expansion plan. The master plan includes a new facility for outpatient therapies, which will connect to the current outpatient rehabilitation facility; a new maintenance building and a proposal to build a new building to house our current inventory, dietary and environmental services departments. The latter is still in the infancy stages at the Board level. Wendell Foster is looking to the community for support and assistance, in meeting our future endeavors, and ongoing mission to empower people with disabilities.
