Chamber will mark 100 years with Centennial Celebration January 19 Since April 1913, business leaders in Owensboro have been joining forces to bolster the economy and press for initiatives to increase opportunities for businesses to thrive. The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce was formed by ifteen member of the Owensboro Businessmen’s Association. 100 years later, the group is still thriving as the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, with nearly 900 members. The concept of the Chamber remains the same after

all these years – provide a place for the leaders of the Greater Owensboro area to come together and share their ideas and services to make Owensboro a better place to live and work. To celebrate the accomplishments, members, and leaders who have contributed, the Chamber will host a Centennial a Centennial Celebration presented by Owensboro Health on January 19th at the RiverPark Center. The Celebration will begin at 6 pm with a recep-

tion, followed by a program at 7 pm in Cannon Hall. The program will highlight all the accomplishments over the last 100 years, and will include the annual “Passing of the Gavel” from 2012 Board Chair Michael F. Beckwith to 2013 Chair Gavin C. Roberts. The Dance of the Decades will begin at 8:30 pm with the Second Street Big Band playing until 11:30 pm. Tickets for the Centennial Celebration are $50 and can be reserved by calling the Chamber at 926-1860.
