Owensboro native will speak at June breakfast Kelsey (Kirkpatrick) Starks is an Owensboro native who has worked in nearly ever y aspect of television news over the past 15 years. You could say her broadcasting career began at Owensboro High School, where she was in the inaugural class for the district’s first television production studio. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University’s prestigious Medill School of Journalism. Kelsey has since worked in New York City, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Charleston, South Carolina and Louisville as producer, reporter and anchor. She has spent the past eight years at WHAS-TV in Louisville, where she anchors the morning show, “Good Morning Kentuckiana.” She is also a mother to three children, ages 7, 4 and 7 months.
The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce will debut our new and improved website in June. The new website will provide users with access to all of the Chamber’s events, programs, business director y, and much more! Also, the site will allow members to sign-up for text-push notifications, which will notify members of Chamber updates and happenings. Stay tuned for more information on how you can best utilize the new Chamber website.

Barb Birgy is a native of northern Michigan where she attended Western Michigan University, studying social work and art. She was a manager at Disc Jockey Records when Terr y Woodward brought her to Owensboro to work at the home office in 1994. She left WaxWorks as the director of purchasing and vendor relations in 2016. Throughout the last 20 years, Barb has been a radio announcer on 92.5 WBKR and recently joined the marketing team helping clients grow their business. She loves sports, art, pets and music. In 1996, she met her husband, Chris Arnold, and they have one son, Josh, and two spoiled dogs!

WKU-Owensboro to host June’s Rooster Booster For more than 40 years, WKU-Owensboro has been dedicated to providing access to higher education and improving the quality of life in the communities that we serve. Courses are offered in a variety of flexible delivery options including face-to-face, interactive video services and online. In addition to flexible course offerings and a variety of program options, WKU-Owensboro has a state-of-the-art facility and a relaxed campus atmosphere. WKU-Owensboro currently offers 23 bachelor’s degrees, 29 master’s degrees and an assortment of undergraduate and graduate certificate programs that can be completed locally or online. Offering only upper-division courses, WKU-Owensboro serves transfer students who have met lower-level, general education requirements. For this reason, WKU has established Joint Admissions agreements with 11 community and technical college
partners allowing for a seamless transition to a bachelor’s degree. In addition to WKU-Owensboro’s educational opportunities, services are offered to help local businesses.
