We are delighted The Well are joining us to discuss a range of issues that relate to teenagers’ health including the importance of sport and the role it can play in promoting wellbeing.

YOGA WITH THE LUMI FOUNDATION

These yoga classes will be offered by Lumi Foundation, a registered charity with a mission to make yoga accessible and affordable to everyone. Age, gender, religion, race, nationality, financial situation, social standing, sexuality, disability and vulnerability does not matter to Lumi Foundation – everyone is welcome!

ALESSANDRA GALLONI

Alessandra Galloni became editor-in-chief of Reuters in April 2021. She oversees all editorial functions across video, text, pictures, and graphics. She is the first female editor-in-chief in the organisation’s 170-year history.

Previously, Alessandra was global managing editor, overseeing news planning and creation where she was responsible for overseeing the global dimensions of Reuters coverage and developing stories with a cross-regional focus. She first joined Reuters in 1996 for the Italian-language news service in Rome, later moving to the equities reporting team in London. She re-joined Reuters in September 2013 as editor of the Southern Europe bureau following 13 years at the Wall Street Journal, where she worked as a reporter, economics and business writer and editor, in London, Paris and Rome.

DR NIRJA JOSHI

Old Dolphin Nirja (Class of 2008), known as the ‘dancing doctor’, returns to provide a wellbeing workshop. This includes a dance session and wellbeing talk. Full-time doctor and part-time dance instructor, Nirja believes in promoting the body positivity and health benefits that dance offers. As well as encouraging medics to integrate movement into their workplace, Nirja believes emotional wellbeing should not be forgotten. Through ‘The WorkWell Doctors’ platform, Nirja provides resources and webinars to support the wellbeing of NHS staff and healthcare professionals.

JIM SMITH

Jim is a developmental biologist who served as Director of the Medical Research Council (MRC) National Institute for Medical Research, where he helped establish the Francis Crick Institute. He is Secretary of the Zoological Society of London, and until recently was Director of Research Programmes at Wellcome. Jim was elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society in 1993 and of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 1998, and was knighted in 2017.
