WELCOME LELY TROJAN FANS

TO THE 2020 FOOTBALL SEASON>>> I would like to thank you for coming to tonight’s football game. Your encouragement and support of Lely High School Athletics has always been a large part of our success. I am sure you are aware, athletic competition builds character and contributes to shaping student athletes’ lifetime behaviors and attitudes. Many of the lessons learned and qualities developed on the playing field today become the building blocks for our athletes’ lifelong character traits. The success achieved is due to the commitment of our student athletes, coaches, teachers and fans. Lely Athletics strives to promote and reinforce principles of good sportsmanship such as respect, integrity and fairness. Our philosophy holds that sports are very important; however, they are only one portion of our total educational program. Academics is and will always be our top priority. We need and expect our community members to support our players and coaches at all times. In addition, it is just as important that we treat our opponents and all officials with the highest respect. We encourage you to support your teams in a positive way that represents Lely Athletics as a first-class organization. We appreciate all of the support you give to our excellent teams. Lastly, a special “THANK YOU” to all of the Sponsors who are supporting Lely Football, by advertising in our media guide and in the Trojan Stadium. We truly appreciate all of you.

HEAD COACH >>A MESSAGE FROM THE FOOTBALL

Welcome to the 2020 season of Lely Trojan Football!

We enter this season with renewed expectations and excitement as head football coach JJ Everage enters into his second season with the Lely Trojan football program. Coach Everage has re-energized the football program, after a successful 2019 season that ended with a record of 6-5, District runner-up and a playoff appearance for the first time in nearly a decade. The 2020 Lely Trojans will see the return of 5 offensive starters that include Division 1 prospect Sergio Morancy at wide receiver. Other notables on offense include JJ Dervil, Schneider Natan, Corey Angelo, Bradley Philogene along with newcomers Noah Wilges, Anthony Felix and Evan Fridae. The defense has 6 returning starters that showcase Division 1 prospect JJ Dervil at Cornerback. Other notables include; Carson chambers, D’Jonico Palmy and Giovanni Lewis. “Last season laid the foundation for what lies ahead. The twenty-three seniors that led last year’s team put us ahead of schedule for rebuilding this program. Now it is up to the current seniors to build upon that success. We all understand that this season is unlike any other we’ve seen in our lifetime, but the expectations are still high.” I want to personally welcome each and every one of you to a new era of Lely Trojan Football. We know that this season will be different and unlike any ever before due to this global pandemic, however these young men have been working hard each and every day for the past two and a half months in preparation for the season. I can never express enough my gratitude for these young men and the effort they have put in. it just goes to show us all that we should never take for granted of the privilege we have to play this game that we all share a love for. Last year’s team exceeded my expectations of posting a 6-5 record as District Runner-Ups and a first round appearance in the playoffs. This year’s team motto is “Excelsior” which is Latin forever upward. We want to continue the climb to championship level football and to exceed the mark set by last year’s team. I look forward to seeing this year’s team showcase their talents on the gridiron. #WEAreLely # ThemLelyBoys Thank you to our sponsors and boosters. Without you fielding a team that we can all be proud of would not be possible. I would also like to thank my coaching staff and their families for all the hard work and personal sacrifice of getting these young men ready for play this 2020 season. Lastly, Thank you to the faculty and administration at Lely High School, the honor and pleasure to be your head football coach is something I can only hope to repay someday.

J.J. Everage

Head Football Coach

JJ Everage >> VARSITY HEAD COACH Coach Everage is entering his second season with the Lely Trojan Football team. In his first season, Coach Everage managed a record of 6-5, District Runner-ups and making the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade. Coach Everage has 28 years of coaching experience, all at the high school varsity level. He has held several coaching titles and coached at several high schools in Kentucky before moving to Florida. While in the great Commonwealth of Kentucky, Coach Everage made four state semi-finalist appearances with two different high school programs, as the offensive coordinator with Montgomery County and wide receivers / defensive backs coach with Somerset. Coach Everage moved to Florida in 2012 to become the defensive backs coach at Lehigh Senior High School in Lee County. Coach Everage served as the offensive coordinator for his final two seasons at Lehigh Senior where he helped Lehigh have a winning season and reach the playoffs for the first time in 10 years. Football has blessed my life in so many ways. It has taken me across two different states as a coach, where I have met extraordinary people and hopefully made a few friends along the way. However, I can truly say that Lely feels like my permanent home. The school, the faculty, and the administration are fantastic. But, above all the rest, the seniors that played for me last season and the young men that I coach now have really made me feel like there is no other place I want to be. #ThemLelyBoys make me more and more prouder each and every day that I get to coach them. Coach Everage and his wife Lisa are the proud parents of four daughters, Taylor 22, Brynley 15, Riley 15 and Ashlyn 13. The new addition to the Everage clan this year is their dog Kash.

THANK YOU FOR FEEDING OUR ATHLETES! Big thank you to the owner of Foxboro, Thom Popoli and the General Manger of Carrabba’s, Yvonne Lux and their staff!!

Ereck Plancher, was a 2007 graduate of Lely High School. Plancher was a star on and off the field, even referred to as “one of the finest people to ever come through these gates” by Paul Ruby, Lely’s Athletic Director at the time. Upon graduation, Ereck accepted an athletic scholarship to attend the University of Central Florida to play football. On March 18, 2008 during an offseason football workout, the UCF freshman collapsed. Unfortunately, Ereck passed away less than an hour later. On that day, the Lely community lost one of their finest leaders. The coaching staff at the time decided it best to keep number 5 alive. This prestigious #5 jersey is awarded yearly to an outstanding senior that has shown true dedication to the Lely Football program, both on and off the field. According to Ereck’s high school coach Steve Pricer, “It will be a player, who best embodies the team concept. A player who gives more to the program than he gets from it. A player who doesn’t know what it means to take a day off. A player who lives each day like it’s his last. A player, a person, like Ereck Plancher”. This tradition still lives on 13 years later. This year, the player to receive the Ereck Plancher Award and #5 jersey, is JJ Dervill. Plancher lived his life to the fullest and left his legacy in the Lely community that will live on forever.
