As an architect, you design for the present, with an awareness of the past for a future which is essentially unknown” - Norman Foster Architecture is the art and science of making sure that our cities and buildings actually fit with the way we want to live our lives: the process of manifesting our society into our physical world. “Architecture is always related to power and related to large interests, whether financial or political.”

“Architecture is about improving conditions: environmental, social and sometimes also political.” - Arjen Oosterman “Architecture is not just one thing. It is not just an art. … It has to deal with the real situation; it has to do something good for the society.” - Xiaodu Liu “Architecture is much more than the building of an object on a site: it

The client’s requirement was quite unique. They wanted a big house when they have their daughters and grandchildren who live abroad coming to stay with them during holidays while a small one when it’s just the two of them.

To design a beautiful place for living and give peace to mind The house is not only for living,it is the creator of better idea, better life,it give the brain to work normally.

The house as we call “FARM HOUSE” is not really a Farm house in its literal sense. It’s a house for a retired couple who spent most part of their working days in the heart of Bangalore city. They wanted move out of the hustle and bustle into a quieter locality. This plot was in a gated community near Electronic-city which is the hub of all major IT giants. The minimum plot size was 10,000 sq.ft , with a lot of coffee plantation and eucalyptus trees around. The greenery, serenity of this gated community and the quietness made us name this house as the “Farm House”.

The residence was conceptualized as an amalgamation of the serenity of the site and the client’s requirement of a simple and a low maintenance house. We did not want to block the view of the surrounding at the same time we had to give some kind of privacy to the inhabitants. Looking out to the house from the street, the front reveals two prominent cubes with two layers, one layer with opening and the other layer comprising of louvers. Where the opening gives the view of the outside from inside, the louvers give the required privacy.

5 We divided the house in two parts, the active part and passive part. The active part has the absolutely essential areas like the bedrooms, kitchen and utility. We kept the Master Bed Room and a guest room next to each other opening on to a small family room.

The conceptual form is derived from the subtractive, addictive theory. The tree surrounded by the site act as a buffer, prevent from the noise and it increase the air flow .more comfort to user

The additive form act as a shading device and also act as a living room which provide good view form the building.

The building orientation to catch the natural sun light on morning and act as a shading device

The glass absorb sunlight and give thermal comfort to the building.the vertical louvers act as a privacy wall it create privacyt

6 The other extension was the bigger dining and a formal double height living which formed passive part. These two parts are separated by a single door. The closure of this door would mean the closure of the passive part of the house. The idea here for the client was to reduce the areas that needed to be cleaned daily. They would close this for most part of the year when it’s just the two of them. give the entry ramp on the Eastern side of the main gate.

7 which made us give the entry ramp on the Eastern side of the main gate. A large court was created at the East side of the plot. This court was enveloped by the living room on one side and the dining on the other. The larger dining room and the living room open on to this same court which is tactfully tucked in to give privacy from the road in front. The upper floor balcony which is accessible from the family also overlooks this garden.vv

8 The structure of the building and massing within the block provides for a clear separation between the different areas of the IUT and PRES (client: University Construction Office) as well as the student accommodation and canteen (client: CROUS).

The individual components are encompassed in a compact ring around a spacious landscaped courtyard, which portrays a representative and quiet building block edge to the outside of the cityscape. The courtyard with its tiered patio areas functions as an open “Forum” promoting communication between the individual institutions.

The outer compactness of the new university building is supported by concrete facade.t

The outer compactness of the new university building is supported by closely knit concrete façade pilasters. This appears as a subtly structured volume to integrate the project into its surroundings with respect to color and materiality. The characteristics of this building are defined by the homogeneity of the light concrete, the use of a limited amount of different materials, and neglecting the building elements such as; windowsills and venetian blinds. The uniform block structure at the main entrance is deliberately broken, as the autonomous block of the PRES significantly protrudes in plan and height. A gem-like exterior layer of adjustable vertical glass panels are used in the building ring-seemingly without touching it- thus contributing to its function and location opposite the existing University Construction Office. The ground floor and the first floor are reserved for the entrance hall, the dinning hall and the classrooms. In the standard floors are offices, conference rooms and student apartments.

The auditorium is embedded low in the centre of the block creating space for a large terrace above, which is linked via seating steps through the courtyard

9 The hostel will facilitate with 900 beds. The hostel is designed with all the premium facilites for both boys and girls hostel. The hostel is integreted with indoor gamers like badminton, carrom board ,chess, mini theatre cum conference room,Integrated canteen, attached toilet,2 students per room,The hostel rooms are comes into fully ac,and iam used central ventillated system.t

11 The college has a high specialized hospital. It is very usefull to student at emergency time. The hospital is easily accessible from outer side.If therer is emergency on the outside of the site, easily access form outside also. The college comes with the canteen, which provides high quality food, and also ro purified drinking water.

12 The main theme of the design is to design a restaurent for college. I used wooden materials for table and chair, polished tiles for flooring which give premium looks for interior. The false ceiling is done at 2’6” height. gypsum board is used in the false ceiling.

Restaurent design

13

Life is like a restaurant; you can have anything you want as long as you are willing to

The soft, warm light was chosen in order to create a comfortable atmosphere. We also add a neon light to the interior to emphasize the industrial atmosphere of the designed space. A large glazed terrace is open to the central square of the city, and it is one of a good viewpoint on the city view. v

The finishes were selected in order to provide an austere atmosphere but at the same time generating its own personality. For this purpose, it was developed in site a polish cement coating colored with powdered pigments. We also decided to install a brick floor in the terrace, artisanal tiles and a polish cement floor in the inside and apparent brick walls covered with lime. The inclusion of vegetation both in the inside and the outside, plays a very important role in order to provide some warmth in this atmosphere of sober finishes. And as great frontal finish, at the back of the semi-covered patio, a mural made by a local artist is revealed in which regional themes are reflected, reinforcing the brand´s purpose to reinterpret and revalue cultural aspects of the city and of the region

The original spatial characteristics of this local, made us possible to generate 2 different environments: a roofed interior space and a semi covered patio. The roofed interior space can be seen from the street through its completely glazed façade, generating a direct link with the public space. After crossing the interior space, you enter the semi covered patio, a huge elder tree welcomes you while its shadow covers partially the dining area, the rest of the shadow needed is created by a carrizo-made cover assembled over a metal structure.

14 utilizes a refined material palette that has been carefully curated to bring an understated elegance to their work. The central design idea is to create a minimalist, balanced and beautiful interior.

Kitchen design

The kitchen is designed based on the concept of minimalism.

Entering this marvelously modish apartment, visitors find themselves in a light, airy, openplan living area with a kitchen to the left, and behind that a corridor leading to a well-appointed master bedroom. The eye is immediately drawn to the room’s centerpiece, a dual fireplace and shelf unit specified in Neolith® Beton. This impressive feature brings the whole living area together in a contemporary and convivial way. It’s something to gather around during the cold winter months and admire all-year-round, like a piece of abstract sculpture. This is further framed by high ceilings, brushed oak floors, crisp white walls and cabinetry, and exposed structural concrete columns, creating a light, airy atmosphere.

Moving to the kitchen, Neolith® is a natural choice for applications in this space. Not only does it look attractive, but it also possesses performance qualities found in few other materials. Ultra-hygienic, highly resistant and scratch, stain, and waterproof, it can withstand the daily impact of culinary activity. Further, coming in a range of over 50 colors, patterns and finishes, it can match any design brief.

15 The wood is placed on the top of the island. The white brick cladding work is done on the wall of the kitchen. The light which focus the island which creates a focul point and lights are selected based on the senses created by light.warm lights are avoided.
