Public Vaccination Programs City of Gold Coast is a registered vaccine provider and is committed to providing residents and visitors with a professional and accessible public immunisation service, dedicated to reducing the incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases. Currently vaccinations for infants can be administered after your child reaches six to eight weeks of age. Please note that a number of the vaccines and their acronyms can be similar so ensure: • that you are aware of the combined nature of each vaccine, • the communicable diseases that they are being protected against; and • the necessary intervals between doses in some cases.
Free HPV vaccination now available for boys Gold Coast boys are being offered the free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for the first time. The first round of HPV vaccinations has been hugely successful. Over 30,000 female Gold Coast students have so far been vaccinated against HPV since its introduction in 2007. The program now offers Year 8 male students vaccination to protect against hepatitis B, chickenpox and HPV, with a two-year catch-up program for HPV also being offered to Year 10 male students. HPV vaccine is costly and parents are encouraged to have their children vaccinated for free. Should you require more information please contact us by telephone at 5581 6709 or email our staff, immunise@goldcoast.qld.gov.au
