Wouldn’t that be nice?
You’ve seen those pesky ads telling you how if you only follow a few simple steps, all your financial worries will vanish. If only those worked, then I wouldn’t be stuck writing this to you. The unfortunate truth is that failure is a much more common outcome than success, and the latter is only achieved by those able to withstand those hardships. Hardships are never more common than for a business trying to make a name for itself in a competitive industry. Denago EV’s journey has been one of learning, adapting, and overcoming. To share our story, and possibly impart a few valuable insights, we’ve listed some of the key struggles faced in the first couple of years as a company and how we took those hardships in stride and came out the other side.
A question we constantly ask ourselves comes from the idea of inversion, where we not only think what leads to success, but what would guarantee failure? In our case, neglecting our customers as we scaled. In the early days, customer support was straightforward, as there were simply less customers calling with complaints, compliments, or questions. But as Denago EV grew to reach more consumers, ensuring high quality customer service became a greater challenge. To ensure every customer was being heard and helped, Denago EV tried a plethora of solutions that all fell short. Initially, we tried outsourcing our customer service, only to find that they lacked the product knowledge our customers required. We tried creating a 24/7 support team to field calls
but the people available for such a team just couldn’t compare with the technicians we had in our warehouses when it came to knowing the ins and outs of our carts. The solution was right in front of us all along, getting senior technicians to man the customer support lines so instead of filtering calls through layers of inexperienced reps, customers could speak directly with the experts. Though it’s a vast improvement, the truth is we still aren’t where we want to be in terms of being able to satisfy every customer as soon as they call in. We believe in admitting our shortcomings as long as we continue to strive to overcome them.
Denago EV is a young company in an industry full of
established brands who have done an excellent job promoting themselves and their products. I’m sure you’ve even seen them in the other pages of this very magazine (don’t flip to them now, you’re stuck reading this). So it begs the question, how do you enter such a market? There’s a lot of different approaches you can take to “grab a piece of the market share pie”, but to us, there was only one thing we could do.
That was to be ourselves. Our goal was, and is, to have authentic branding where we try to see our product from the customers’ point of view in all of its glory and flaws. We take what our customers have to say about what we sell and incorporate it into everything that we do. We want to show off real people that use our carts in their everyday lives. We don’t look towards gimmicky or trendy marketing and customers recognize our authenticity. Our marketing may not be the
becomes easier to maintain those relationships, and when the manufacturer-distributor connection is strong, everyone wins!
We’ve talked about the people who use the carts and we’ve talked about ourselves, but there is another party involved in this process that we could never overlook. As a manufacturer, there is nothing more important than understanding what our dealers across the globe need to make their lives easier. Distributors do so much for us, but it’s important to remember that each one has their own unique hardships that they have to overcome every day as well, so a struggle Denago EV faced was being able to assist dealerships in the unique ways that showed we were taking personalized approaches to their individual needs. To show how much we care about our dealers, our dealer support team goes the extra mile when it comes to getting to know who they are before we even sign them. Sure, we want to know about their business, but we also want to know about the dealers themselves, their employees, and if we think it will be a good fit, as we aim to build a strong connection with all of our distributors. Once you know the dealerships you work with on a personal level, it
Now is there anything to actually take away from this or was this just me ranting about my problems for a couple of minutes? Well, through our ups and downs the key points we found are:
• Customer Service Scales with Expertise – As you grow, keep support personal. Let experts, not just reps, handle customer concerns.
• Authenticity Over Flash – Real stories and honest branding connect better than gimmicks. Stay true to your customers.
• Build Strong Dealer Relationships – Understand your partners beyond business. Personal connections create lasting success.
We hope there’s something you were able to take away from our trials and errors. Denago EV has experienced plenty of failures on its journey so far and will continue to face more hardships ahead.
The bar we are reaching for is an ever rising one, but nevertheless we continue to reach upwards.
Lithium golf cart batteries have revolutionized the industry with their impressive performance and longevity. However, many owners still wonder: how long will my battery last, and what happens when it reaches the end of its service life? While lithium batteries have only been mainstream in golf carts for about five years, they have quickly become the preferred choice. With all the buzz surrounding this technology, let's explore their lifespan, maintenance, and the fate of these powerful energy storage units.
Most modern lithium batteries use LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells, which are engineered to last up to 3,500 charge cycles. A charge cycle is counted each time a battery is fully discharged and recharged. For perspective, traditional lead-acid batteries typically last 750 cycles over 4 years. If lithium batteries follow the same usage pattern, they could last over 18 years before reaching their cycle limit.
However, since lithium golf cart batteries have only been widely available for about five years, no one has truly reached this threshold under normal conditions. Theoretically, if properly maintained, highquality lithium batteries could achieve these extended lifespans, but real-world data is still emerging.
If you want your lithium battery to last as long as possible, follow these essential maintenance tips:
• REGULAR USE: Avoid letting your battery sit unused for long periods.
• CHARGE WISELY: Never discharge beyond 80% of capacity and always use an appropriate LiFePO4 charger.
• BALANCED CHARGING: Ensure the battery is regularly charged to full capacity to maintain cell balance.
• PROPER CONNECTIONS: Secure all electrical connections to prevent overheating and inefficiencies.
• CHOOSE QUALITY OVER PRICE: Lower-quality batteries with subpar components won’t last as long as Grade A LiFePO4 cells.
• PURCHASING A HIGH-QUALITY BATTERY from a trusted supplier with U.S.-based quality control and extended warranties can also help ensure longevity.
SIGNS YOUR LITHIUM BATTERY IS NEARING THE END
How can you tell when your battery is nearing the end of its life? Here are some key warning signs:
• DECREASED RUN TIME: Shorter trips between charges and a quicker drop in charge level.
• REDUCED CAPACITY: The battery holds less energy than before, requiring more frequent charging.
• PERFORMANCE ISSUES: Slower acceleration or weaker overall power output.
Many high-end lithium batteries come with Bluetooth-enabled monitoring apps, allowing owners to check charge cycles, voltage levels, and battery health in real time. This technology helps anticipate when a battery needs attention before it fully depletes.
CAN LITHIUM BATTERIES BE RECONDITIONED?
Yes! Reconditioning can recover lost capacity and extend a battery’s life. This process involves specialized equipment that performs controlled charge and discharge cycles to rebalance the cells. However, it must be done before a battery fails completely. If a Battery Management System (BMS) failure or a dead cell occurs, reconditioning will no longer be effective.
While reconditioning can prolong battery life, it isn’t a permanent fix. Over time, lithium cells naturally degrade, requiring repeated reconditioning every 1-2 years to maintain peak performance.
When a lithium golf cart battery reaches the end of its lifespan, it typically shuts down into protective mode, rendering it unusable. At this point, it needs to be replaced and disposed of properly.
Unfortunately, lithium battery recycling is still in its infancy. Due to the limited domestic manufacturing of lithium batteries, recycling isn't yet a financially scalable process. However, as demand for lithium products grows, recycling solutions are expected to improve.
Looking ahead, the industry may introduce consumer-grade reconditioning tools and more accessible recycling programs, making lithium batteries a more sustainable long-term investment.
Lithium batteries offer exceptional longevity and performance, but they are not invincible. Proper maintenance, careful charging habits, and monitoring can extend their lifespan significantly. As the industry evolves, advancements in recycling and reconditioning will ensure lithium power remains a viable and eco-friendly option for golf cart owners. With the right care, your lithium battery may just last 3,500 cycles—or 18 years!
The evolution of golf cart lighting has transformed these vehicles from simple daytime transporters into eye-catching showcases of personal style. Today's LED lighting options offer golf cart owners unprecedented ways to customize their rides while adding practical functionality that extends well beyond basic headlights and taillights.
From the subtle (or not so subtle) glow of under-glow lighting that creates a floating effect to strategically placed wheel well illumination and roof-line accents, LED light kits have become the go-to choice for cart owners looking to stand out. Whip lights, mounted at the front or rear, can serve double
duty – creating a striking visual display while functioning as turn signals, brake lights, and reverse indicators when integrated into the cart's electrical system.
The LED revolution has even reached audio systems, with most modern sound bars featuring built-in lighting that can synchronize with other LED elements throughout the cart. Whether pulsing to the beat of music or displaying themed color combinations for holidays and special events, these integrated systems transform ordinary carts into mobile light shows that enhance both the driving experience and safety after dark.
Let's explore some of the most innovative LED lighting solutions available for your golf cart, from established industry leaders to exciting newcomers in the marketplace.

Brad Crumb of Big O Carts LLC from Clewiston, FL
WHAT YEAR, BRAND, AND MODEL IS THIS CART?
2016 E-Z-GO TXT
HI BRAD, TELL US ABOUT THIS CUSTOM BUILD.
It was time to build ourselves a cart! With Halloween around the corner, I wanted something wild for trick-or-treating. I found a great deal on an E-Z-GO TXT as our base, and I just so happened to have a set of 28” tires that my neighbor pulled off his SXS. He thought I was crazy when I told him I’d use them to build a monster cart—but here we are!
Once we stripped the TXT down, we needed the perfect color. Enter Chi Chi Rodriguez, our local paint legend, also known as the “Candy Man.” He laid down a stunning tri-coat Acura Thermal Orange—with a little “extra,” of course.
Next, we had to figure out how to fit those massive 28” tires and still be able to turn them. I hit up my guy Dan at Golf Cart King and started piecing together the parts list.
As things came together, we ran into a little issue—the cart was too tall to fit in the garage! So, we opted for a sport windshield. I saw a limited run of them for TXT models from Golf Carts Modified and
snagged one just in time.
Then, we wanted to add a unique custom touch—a one-of-a-kind emblem featuring our logo. I reached out to David at Golf Carts Mafia with some measurements and design ideas, and he made it happen using acrylic. The finishing touch? An Extreme Mats floor mat for that clean, polished look.
WHAT AFTERMARKET PARTS DID YOU USE?
• Suspension: 7” Rox Long Travel
• Power: 600amp Navitas AC conversion with cables
• Wheels: 14” Mayhems
• Seats: Modz FS2 Custom Seats
• Steering: Lugano Steering Wheel
• Rear Seat: GTW Rear Seat
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BUILDING CARTS?
I’ve been at it for three years now, and I love pushing the limits with unique, custom builds.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS FOR YOU OR YOUR COMPANY?
We’re going to keep doing what we do best—building one-of-one carts that turn heads and break the mold!
Q: What is wheel offset, and why does it matter?
A: Wheel offset refers to the distance between the hub mounting surface and the wheel’s centerline. It is typically measured in inches and described with two numbers, such as 3:4. The first number (3) represents the space from the inside edge of the wheel to the mounting surface, while the second number (4) is the distance from the mounting surface to the outer wheel edge (street side).
A positive offset keeps the wheel closer to the vehicle, reducing how far it sticks out—this is standard for most stock golf cart wheels. A zero offset means the hub mounting surface is centered, pushing the wheels slightly outward, which is useful for larger tires. A negative offset extends the wheel further from the cart’s body, creating a wider stance, often giving it a deepdish appearance. This setup is ideal for bigger, more aggressive tires, ensuring they don’t rub when turning.
Q: How do different tires impact ride quality?
A: Your choice of tires will directly affect how your golf cart handles different terrain. Here are the most common types:
• TURF TIRES: Designed primarily for golf courses, these have minimal tread for smooth, gentle contact. They provide the least traction and aren’t ideal for pavement.
• STREET TIRES: Engineered for road use, these have a defined tread pattern for better handling, a smoother ride, and improved longevity on hard surfaces.
• ALL-TERRAIN TIRES: These feature deeper, more aggressive tread patterns to handle dirt, sand, gravel, and off-road conditions. However, they tend to be noisier and wear down faster when used on pavement.
One additional factor to consider is that largerdiameter tires can slightly increase your top speed by 2-4 mph, due to the change in overall wheel rotation. However, they may also slightly affect acceleration and torque.
Whatever your needs, choosing the right tires will make a big difference in performance, comfort, and overall driving experience!
Q: What are the largest tires I can install on my stock golf cart without a lift kit?
A: The maximum tire size varies depending on the make and model of your golf cart. Here’s a breakdown of the largest tires that can fit without a lift kit:
• EZGO TXT & RXV: Up to 20.5” tires
• Club Car DS / Precedent: Up to 18.5” tires
• Yamaha DRIVE (G29): Up to 20” tires
• Yamaha G19-G22: Up to 18.5” tires
(Note: These recommendations assume there are no extra modifications, such as a rear seat kit or cargo box, which may reduce clearance.)
HERE’S A HELPFUL TIRE SIZE REFERENCE GUIDE:
• 205/50-10 – 18” Tall, 8” Wide
• 205/65-10 – 20.5” Tall, 8” Wide
• 205/30-12 – 17” Tall, 8” Wide
• 215/30-12 – 17.1” Tall, 8.5” Wide
• 215/35-12 – 17.9” Tall, 8.5” Wide
• 215/40-12 – 18.5” Tall, 8.5” Wide
• 215/50-12 – 20.5” Tall, 8.5” Wide
• 205/30-14 – 19” Tall, 8” Wide
