Fox Hollow Golf Club is one of the premier

golf courses in the state and was recently rated 57th by Golf Digest’s Top 75 Courses Accessible to the Public in Florida. Purchased by the Creighton family two and a half years ago, one of their goals was to take the course to a higher level by upgrading course conditions and constantly making improvements. Dave Creighton Sr. has owned and operated several courses in Florida starting with Northdale Golf Club from 1980 to 2000. Dave Sr. had a 21-year professional hockey career including 11 seasons in the NHL with the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Black Hawks and New York Rangers. Son Adam followed his dad’s path into professional hockey with a 14-year NHL career, including two years with the Tampa Bay Lightning (1992/93 and (1993/94). Dave’s other son Dave Jr. is an accomplished PGA golf professional. He has spent his career managing the family’s golf course properties. upgrading the facility. New machinery was purchased for golf course maintenance and different maintenance practices were followed to ensure that the golf course is always in great condition. The restaurant and banquet room also went through a facelift and were upgraded with new furniture and décor in 2014. Opening in 1994, the Fox Hollow golf course has the distinction of being one of the last courses designed and built by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., one of the most prolific and innovative golf course designers of all time. In his design of Fox Hollow, the legendary Jones created a layout as

picturesque as it is playable. Quite simply, Fox Hollow offers a good, fair test of golf. The par-71 championship layout features five sets of tees and offers new challenges every time it’s played, mixing native trees and vegetation, sparkling lakes, sand bunkers and a variety of wildlife. TRILOGY GOLF CLUB AT OCALA PRESERVE A NEW CONCEPT IN GOLF BY DAVE DAUBERT Celebrated Golf Course Architect Tripp Davis and PGA Tour Champions Professional Tom Lehman have collaborated on a whole new outlook, if you will. The new conceptualization comes from both Tripp and Tom 'thinking outside the box' of traditional golf course design and developing a layout that meets the needs of new people trying out the game, millennials with short attention spans, active adults with less stamina and traditional 18 holers. How do you do that? Well it wasn't easy but it was fun for the two course designers to put their heads together and come up with a new concept that meets all generations' needs and at the same time reduce the environmental footprint of the course. The design has been built on a site of only 50 acres with a loop system utilized to help accommodate golfers of varying skill levels thus enabling them to play as much golf as they want. "The whole idea was to give players a lot of variety in what they can play, pla play shots of great quality that they would find on the best courses and take less time to play," said Tripp Davis. "It is by no means traditional golf, nor was it meant to be-the whole intent was to make it great fun with a variety of options to play in a shorter amount of time." "Our vision was to create a course that has lots of variety and great character," said Tom. "Based on comments from those who've played it, I think we succeeded in accomplishing those goals." Trilogy at Ocala Preserve is a Shea Homes master planned all-ages resort community with select 55+ neighborhoods on 623 acres among the gentle rolling hills in the heart of Florida horse country. The folks at Shea picked Tripp and Tom to come up with a new vision to fit the size of the community, while protecting the environment. The golf course is just one of many amenities residents will enjoy. Not only does the design include all the challenges of a traditionally-styled golf course, but its revolutionary routing provides flexibility in terms of playability, challenge and time commitment. The result is a course that can be played in multiple ways, each offering a new experience. The Skills Course is an 18 hole par 54 designed to challenge players of all levels with holes varying in length from 63 to more than 200 yards. The Gallery Loop is a 6 hole, par 18 design that can be played in less than an hour while still offering a high-quality golf experience. The Players Loop is a 6 hole, par 24 routing with 1 par 3, 4 par 4s,and 1 par 5. Holes vary in length from 155 to 520 yards and can be played in any of 4 configurations and completed in roughly 90 minutes. The Players Course is 3 rounds of the Players Loop and can be completed to provide an 18 hole, par 72 routing that plays to 6,600 yards with multiple tee complexes, making each 6 holes is distinctively different. The HORSE course is a unique version of match play allowing players to select the tees and holes they wish to play in a golf version of the classic basketball game-HORSE in horse country. The course will be closed to the public for 4 days of the week and open 3. The course officially opened in February with Tom Lehman doing a walking tour of the course explaining Tripp's and his philosophy in designing the 'Course of the Future'. I played the course with Brian Woodruff, PGA Head Professional, Tom Lehman and Tripp Davis and found it to be a great walk with outstanding and varied golf holes. The course has 45 bunkers, a lake, great bermuda fairways, fast greens and lots of slope. I could play it every day and love every minute.

The par-72 championship golf course is the only Signature Nicklaus Design non-residential course in Southwest Florida. The Championship layout plays 7,400 yards. Each Nicklaus-designed course is unique, but certain aspects are present in all of them. – well-balanced holes that vary in direction, look and feel, so that one type of golfer isn’t favored over another and a layout that rewards golfers who make careful club selections.
