To qualify for my list, every destination has to have a good quality golf course(s) and a sandy beach within walking distance of the hotel, be accessible and have availability and relatively good prices for the months ahead. This criteria means we have to say goodbye to some top candidates but my list is incredibly strong, varied in style and very tempting.

Mazagan is a mighty five-star resort on the Atlantic beaches about one hour south of Casablanca. PEBBLE BEACH, CALIFORNIA
Pebble Beach is arguably the most famous golf resort in the world and has to be on every golfer’s tick list. There are four courses— Pebble Beach Links is the most famous but I prefer stunning Spyglass, and Spanish Bay and Del Monte allow you to score quite well while enjoying the legendary experience. There are three hotels, up to 12 restaurants, 22,000 ft2 spa and an atmosphere that only comes about from being world-class for decades. Expensive but brilliant.
2 1/2 hours south of San Francisco, most of my clients ask me to also arrange a couple of nights in “The City By The Bay”.

PARADOR EL SALER, VALENCIA
I like El Saler a lot. It’s a modern listed building 25 minutes south of the exciting city of Valencia on the east coast of Spain and its beautiful golf course is now rated 5th best in Europe!
The small hotel has two restaurants (both serving local specialties but in different styles), spa, pool and fabulous views of the Mediterranean. The location, the golf, the “feel of the place” and the food all go to make El Saler a true hidden gem. And the city of Valencia is one of Spain’s most attractive too.

LE MANOIR, NORTHERN FRANCE
The three-star Le Manoir is an icon in French golf. With two super golf courses, pool, restaurant, plush clubhouse and the famous resort just down the road, it’s got everything you need for a great short-break. And two more European Top 100 courses are close by! The huge, beautiful and deserted beach is a 25 minute walk through the golf course but it’s definitely worth it.

CORNELIA DIAMOND, BELEK
One of the more established hotels in Belek, the Cornelia Diamond has a certain elegance and provides a very smooth holiday experience. Bedrooms are large, there are up to seven restaurants and the spa is one of the best in the area. The 27-hole Sir Nick Faldo golf course is firm but fair, easy walking and has plenty of beautiful holes. With so many good hotels and courses in Belek, the Cornelia Diamond remains among the best.

Ras Al Khaimah prides itself on being the most historic and nature-orientated of all the UAE states. Just 50 minutes north of Dubai Airport, the Waldorf Astoria is, in my opinion, one of the best in UAE region.
