G PUBLISHERS NOTE
G O LIATH
Publisher’s Note The year 2016 will go down as an extra challenging year. The Pulse massacre, without a doubt, was one of the most devastating acts of terrorism committed against the LGBT Community. Then came the most questionable election in recent history. I believe I speak for most of us when I say that I am ready to put the whole mess behind us and bid farewell to this year. The day after the election, we decided here at Goliath to take a long lunch. We needed to step away from everything and just sit, discuss, and eat. We started the meal with an agreement that we wouldn’t discuss the election results. No chance. Within minutes, we dug in, expressed our opinions, and shared stories of previous presidential races. The conversation was sometimes heated and at times a little hopeless, but by the end of the meal we found ourselves laughing together. What was to be a quiet lunch of reflection became what felt most like a family gathering. It was an instant reassurance that all is not lost. As a community, and a family, we will continue working together to bring a brighter future. The same can be said for our whole community. When we all come to the table, there’s a realistic chance for a better tomorrow. In 2017, we will be confronted with news, posts, and opinions that will make us feel like we are living in the Dark Ages again. Despicable, hateful, radical garbage will be spewed in an attempt to make us feel sub-human.
It’s just nonsense and waste, but don’t let it become your own head trash. We knew after gay marriage passed in 2015, there was going to be a backlash. We are living in it right now, but we will survive. We will work together in keeping our heads held high and weather this storm. In the end, we know that while some battles were lost, we will ultimately win the war. If you work or volunteer for our community, don’t lose hope. Don’t lose sight of the better days to come. If you haven’t volunteered, now is the time to engage. It’s a great time, the best time, to participate and bring your voice. March in a pride parade. Attend a gay charity function. Donate your time to greater causes. There are so many ways, right here at home in our great city, to be part of the message. This is our last issue of Goliath for the year, and I hope it will bring you entertainment, information and maybe some laughter. As part of our own community engagement, we hope you feel connected to a piece of your LGBT family each time you pick us up and read through our pages. We will see you in the New Year when we kick off our third volume with the February issue, which by the way, will be about something our community is an expert at: Love. Editor’s Note There’s something about a winter wind that cuts to the core like no autumn gust can match. When it picks up in North Georgia each year, that’s the surest sign that the holiday season is upon us with its singular hold on the hearts and minds of gay men in Atlanta. The Goliath guys are all over that once-a-year ambiance. Your December-January issue starts with local gay events to mark those big occasions, keeps that crisp wind blowing with fashions to let you sparkle well into winter, and wraps with a new view on New Year’s resolutions. Kick off your month with our preview of the Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and its Out in the Kitchen holiday dining party. Continue with shows and gatherings in our Agenda calendar, and find the scoop on our favorite restaurants to ring in 2017 with a view of the city’s New Year’s Eve festivities. If you’re thinking of throwing your own seasonal shindig, heed the warnings of your local gay brothers. Seriously. Well, not so seriously. Our Confessions of a Terrible Holiday Party article will have you rolling with laughter as you learn the lessons from mistakes of real-party horror stories. Looking ahead to 2017, take a tour with our Resolution Roadmap on how to make a plan and finally stick with those New Year pledges this year. You’ll be glad you did. And when the holiday festivities and your energy reserves start to wane, rekindle your lust for life in our travel column. Former Atlantan Buck Cooke details his trip to the Amalfi Coast with his husband, and offers tips on how to do it up right.
Perhaps the feature closest to our hearts in this edition is the SoThrifticated Fashion spread. Conceived, styled and photographed by our staff, it reimagines clothing from two local gay thrift stores – Lost N Found Youth Thrift Store and Out of the Closet. Most of the looks fall into the $15-$25 range, proving that style doesn’t have to be expensive. Local model Joakim Berglund brings our vision to life. Speaking of breathing life into fashions, we also go shopping for your wardrobe’s best asset this winter: black and white accessories. We show how to use that neutral palette to make yourself stand out. As always, our photographers snapped you while you were out, and our Appearances pages show the results. For full galleries of these and more events, be sure to Like us on Facebook, where you can also find a digital version of all our issues, plus exclusive online-only content and promotions just for Goliath readers. Of course no edition of Atlanta’s monthly gay men’s magazine would be complete without the solid advice of comic and “Betty Bowers” satirist Deven Green. From the first page through to her final word, we welcome your feedback and ideas. Drop me an e-mail, and I look forward to hearing from you in the New Year and beyond. A Culinary Affair to Remember By Matthew Holley
The chef-curated tastes of Out in the Kitchen return with Atlanta’s gay professionals mixing business with pleasure for the holidays.
L
et the holiday eating begin! Gay Atlanta’s December calendar kicks off the season of indulgent dining with the annual Out in the Kitchen soiree with Atlanta Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. For the fifth year, the event features premier Atlanta chefs serving a tasting menu to celebrate the season and send off the year in style. This year’s Out in the Kitchen: an AGLCC Holiday Affair is set for December 7 at the W Atlanta Midtown. Originally the brainchild of past president Andria Towne as a way to honor the organization’s community partners in the dining industry, as well as celebrate with members, OITK has evolved into a full night of entertainment, with full bars and tantalizing nibbles. This year’s event will be a night to remember, packed with entertainment and food galore from more chefs than ever, as well as more inclusive options for various dietary restrictions, says Emma Foulkes, event co-chair and AGLCC past president. “Guests will be delighted to partake in the new veggie options, with scrumptious, tasty glutenfree bites for people to sample, as well,” she says. In a new spin with a theme, expect a wide variety

of cuisine inspired by our technology infused lives in 2016: Representative restaurants, caterers, personal chefs, specialized coffee service and even cookies at the event are all available via internet. Featured restaurants include Trace at W Midtown, the Four Seasons, Radial Café, Einstein’s, and Midtown favorite The Flying Biscuit. Chefs like Carlton Brown from Occasional Occasions and Bill Mitchell of Big Buckhead Caterer will serve as the host chefs for the evening.
family, and business clients in your daily life. For the final cherry on top of AGLCC’s holiday sundae, stocked cash bars are scheduled, with live holiday music serenading guests all night. It’s too late for additional chefs to add their flavors to this year’s event, but Foulkes encourages all interested parties to throw their names in the hat for 2017. For those of you just offering your appetites to the mix, tickets are selling out fast for this year, so don’t delay making your plans to attend.
OITK will also serve as the introductions of Chef Vedam, a personal gluten free chef, and Chef Kev from KSquared Meals, who delivers daily meals to the health conscious.
Tasting menus are a centuriesold French tradition called menu dégustation which evolved to highlight seasonal ingredients or chef specialties. Rounding out the roster is Bean in the Borough, which offers flavorsome coffee libations, and Chicago Chef Paul Wayne, whose enchanting treats are available for internet order just in time for holiday gifts for all those special friends,

Good Enough for Wonder Woman, Perfect for You By Buck C. Cooke
Enjoy the sights and tastes of the Amalfi Coast
only by the people-watching, and even the English-free menu was charming. From there we drove through Sorrento towards Positano. My husband drove the nearly two hours winding through twists and turns of the cliff-infested coastline, each vista more beautiful and breath-taking than the last. When we arrived at the gay-friendly La Fenice bed and breakfast, I wasn’t prepared for the lovely the view. We were surrounded on every side by citrus trees and flowering plants that exploded with colorful blossoms. The family who have run the place for decades was beyond friendly, attentive and helpful with suggestions of places to visit and restaurants to try. My husband lost his wedding ring while we were there, and the mother, father and one of the sons helped us turn the rooms upside down until it was found. On the B&B family’s advice, we took a boat trip down the coast to Amalfi. It’s a trip I’ll never forget. Being on the water and seeing the houses and businesses stacked on top of each other up steep terrain is incredible. We took that a step further and kayaked into the gulf from the B&B’s private beach.
Buck Cooke
When looking for the filming location for Wonder Woman’s home of Themyscira, Warner Brothers settled on the Amalfi Coast. It’s easy to see why it’s the perfect place for the fictional, super hero-worthy Paradise Island. While visiting there with my husband, I lost count of the times I was overwhelmed by spectacular scenery. In addition to gorgeous sights, this part of south-western Italy is packed with plenty to do and explore, as well as plenty of places for outstanding cuisine. We landed in Naples with plans for sightseeing, but we were assaulted by how noisy, crowded and grungy the city is. The streets are congested, tiny – even by European standards! – and teeming with cars, pedestrians and motorbikes zigging and zagging everywhere. We headed straight, so to speak, for the Catacombs of San Gennaro and enjoyed the underground cemetery that houses the neck-down remains of its namesake. (His head rests in the city’s duomo. No lie.) Our cute guide was witty and well-versed in the history of the site and the city, so we learned a great deal while enjoying the creepy ambiance of the burial niches, wide walkways through the crypts, as well as ancient frescos and religious artwork.
Even with my fear of becoming “Jaws” food, I loved the view and the feeling of paddling through the crystal clear water. Positano stands in stark contrast to the insanity of Naples. You’ll walk at the city’s leisurely pace past galleries, bars, restaurants, gelato stands, and shops. Of several meals on scenic terraces over the bay, my favorite was at Ristorante Max. We also enjoyed a day at the beach in Positano. I, of course, was slathered in SPF 70 and relaxed in the shade of a huge umbrella, while Mark soaked up the sun in his Speedo, and it was as lovely way to spend the day. If history is your bag, do not miss Pompeii and Vesuvius. The whole day is filled with pretty tough hikes, but the bay glittering in the sunlight, the view from the crater, and your own “Oh mighty Isis!” moment are worth the sweat and straining muscles. Use the restroom before you go, because there are no toilets. No, honey, not even at the visitor center. If you’re like us, the end of the journey will have you ready to plan your next visit. For the region to satisfy two very different travellers as my husband and I is an accomplishment. Maybe it’s the perfect destination for you and the special people in your life to find your own paradise.
We then grabbed a delicious lunch at Pizzeria Gino Sorbillo, one of the most popular restaurants in town. The amazing pizza is matched

What is TRUVADA for PrEP (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis)?
uYou may be more likely to get lactic acidosis or serious liver problems
TRUVADA is a prescription medicine that can be used for PrEP to help reduce the risk of getting HIV-1 infection when used together with safer sex practices. This use is only for adults who are at high risk of getting HIV-1 through sex. This includes HIV-negative men who have sex with men and who are at high risk of getting infected with HIV-1 through sex, and malefemale sex partners when one partner has HIV-1 infection and the other does not. Ask your healthcare provider if you have questions about how to prevent getting HIV-1. Always practice safer sex and use condoms to lower the chance of sexual contact with body fluids. Never reuse or share needles or other items that have body fluids on them.
Who should not take TRUVADA for PrEP?

if you are female, very overweight (obese), or have been taking TRUVADA for a long time. In some cases, these serious conditions have led to death. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any symptoms of these conditions. uWorsening of hepatitis B (HBV) infection. If you also have HBV and take TRUVADA, your hepatitis may become worse if you stop taking TRUVADA. Do not stop taking TRUVADA without first talking to your healthcare provider. Your healthcare provider will need to do tests to monitor your health before and during treatment with TRUVADA for PrEP.
BEFORE TAKING TRUVADA FOR PrEP Tell your healthcare provider if you: • Have or have had any kidney, bone, or liver problems, including hepatitis infection. • Have any other medical conditions. • Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. • Are breastfeeding (nursing) or plan to breastfeed. Do not breastfeed if you become HIV-1 positive because of the risk of passing HIV-1 to your baby. Make New Year’s Eve memorable with these fabulous options for the year’s last meal with easy access to Atlanta’s Peach Drop.
The best places in the city are known to fill up quickly, so don’t wait to make a reservation. To get you started, here’s our list of favorite restaurants to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style and comfort. Go For a Spin With a great 360-degree view of the city no matter where your table is, two rooftop venues are definite contenders for New Year’s Eve. Each of these local jewels is perched atop one of Atlanta’s most renowned hotels with a great view of the Peach Drop proceedings. All the while, you luxuriate in panoramic views, seasonal menus and designer cocktails. Located inside the Westin Peachtree Plaza, The Sun Dial is one of the most iconic restaurants in the region. For New Year’s, plans are already
underway for a prix fixe menu, and at 723 feet above Atlanta, you’ll get a spectacular view of NYE Fireworks. Also check into Polaris at Hyatt Regency Atlanta. This recently restored city fixture has a long history of entertaining celebrity guests, and in addition to the rotating city views, Polaris has a great classic cocktails list and shared plate menu as fancy as you are.
JCT’s New Year’s Eve plans include a farm-totable prix-fixe menu, and the upstairs bar will offer a midnight toast. If intown traffic isn’t your scene at all, check out No. 246 in Decatur, featuring local produce and meats on an Italian-inspired menu

While not Peach Drop adjacent, two of our favorites are the incredibly gay friendly JCT Kitchen & Bar and No. 246.

ere comes your last chance to treat yourself in 2016. It’s safe to say all the gays in the gayborhood earned a good meal and craft cocktails, at the very least.
Escape From It All Along with a southern-inspired contemporary dinner menu, Suite Food Lounge offers three bars and a boutique wine selection. The Miami-themed penthouse features a dance floor, live band and DJ, as well as an open-air sky deck with city views with plenty of flat screen televisions to catch Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin in their ball-dropping glory. Confessions of a Terrible Holiday Party By Mike Fleming Real stories. Real people. Really blown attempts at gay seasonal gatherings in Atlanta serve as hosting lessons for the rest of us. Friends and family coming together for good cheer is such a warming thought this time of year. You’ll just invite some folks, you say. It will be rewarding, you tell yourself. It can be super low maintenance, you think. Think again. Without some forethought and your head in the game as you make plans, your attempt at hosting the perfect holiday party could turn into one of the horror stories we discovered. These hosts ended up with tidings of anything but comfort and joy. Never fear. We take a close look at the damage to create a list of lessons to learn as you head into your own cocktail or dinner party.

“This guy sends out engraved invitations every year to his ‘Stock My Bar’ holiday party. Not only does he want us to BYOB, but an extra bottle for him to keep. To make matters worse, he assigns liquors and brands and tells you what to bring. Adding insult to injury, there’s a “check in” at the door – because you are literally paying your entry with alcohol. I went one year to please a date. Neither of us left impressed, and I’ve never been back.”
“I attended an elegant affair at the home of a Morningside queen who had the house professionally decorated and staffed it from kitchen to bars to door. That’s fine, if impersonal, but he blew it when he stepped out an hour before start time so that he could arrive late in a grand entrance.”
“One host is notorious for calling his event a ‘Tree Trimming Party’ but what he really wants is his friends to buy the decorations for the tree, bring a dish to share, provide the booze, serve as the bartenders, and stay to help clean up.”
Lesson Learned: You sate your guests, not the other way around.

Lesson Learned: If your event is about your glory and not your guests, don’t throw one. Ask how you can personally make each guest feel welcome.
Lesson Learned: If you want to throw a party, don’t call on friends to make it happen.

Making Holiday Magic The way to guests’ hearts is through their stomachs. Try these sure-bet recipes to deck your table in easy, gay-pleasing fabulousness.
Potato Beef Canapes
Hold Your Liquor “The worst holiday party I ever attended, the host didn’t pace himself. He started yelling half-inappropriate and half-incoherent rants pretty early, and was hurling in the bathroom by midnight. People were just drifting toward the door trying to figure out how to leave gracefully.” Lesson Learned: You’re on duty at your own party, at least enough to temper your intake and help others have a good time.
High Martha “There was this party at a certain condo tower in Midtown where the host over-decorated in general, but specifically over decorated for every possible religion. Kitschy stereotypical tchotchkes in every nook and corner made people uncomfortable – especially when we figured out he didn’t mean it as a joke.” Lesson Learned: If you want to seem inclusive, go neutral on the religion and keep decor simple. A few well-placed lights, candles and pretty colors go a long way.
Ingredients 1 1/2 pounds beef tenderloin Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil 5 small red-skinned potatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick 2/3 cup jarred roasted red peppers, drained, rinsed and diced 1 small shallot, minced 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar 1 teaspoon capers, chopped 1/4 teaspoon finely grated garlic 1/4 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary Large pinch of sugar Instructions: Cook meat and even potatoes the previous day to leave more time for the party. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Season meat with salt and pepper. Heat one tablespoon of olive oil in ovenproof skillet, add the beef and brown on all sides, about six minutes. Transfer skillet to oven, roast until a thermometer reads 125 degrees, about 30 minutes. Let rest overnight, or at least 15 minutes before cutting into thin, serving-size slices. Put potatoes in a saucepan, cover with cold water and add salt. Boil then reduce heat to simmer until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and cool overnight or at least 20 minutes before slicing into rounds. For salsa, mix in a bowl the roasted peppers, shallot, vinegar, capers, garlic, rosemary, sugar, plus remaining tablespoon of olive oil and salt and pepper to taste. Put a thin slice of beef on each potato round. Top with pepper salsa. Serve warm or room temperature. Makes 8 servings. Double it for a crowd, and consider cutting into “half portions” to create 32 bites.
Herbed Hazelnuts Ingredients 3 cups hazelnuts 3 tablespoons olive oil 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped thyme 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest 1/2 teaspoon chopped rosemary 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper Instructions: Spread hazelnuts on baking sheet and roast at 400 degrees until toasted, about 10 minutes. Cool slightly, then wrap in a towel and rub to remove skins. Heat olive oil in skillet on low-medium heat. Add nuts, herbs and seasonings. Cook while stirring for two minutes. Serve in bowl warm or room temperature. Double recipe for a larger crowd.
Easy Eggnog Doctoring Start with good, quality eggnog. Add your own mix of dark rum, bourbon and/or brandy. If mixing, pre-determine to your liking before the day of the party.
Hands Free “When I was in my 20s, I went to the home of a retired local gay bigwig with a bunch of friends. We were honored to be invited, until the host used a ‘tour of the house’ ploy to put his hands all over me. When that didn’t work, he moved on to my next friend, and the next.” Lesson Learned: “Your House, Your Rules” doesn’t apply to uninvited groping, Trumpy McGrabsalot.

ROADMAP As December indulgences lead into January promises to yourself, here are the most popular New Year’s Resolutions and how to finally stick with them this year. By Mike Fleming The road to Hell is paved with good intentions. And when it comes to New Year’s Resolutions, we’ve all been there. And back. Goliath gathered its gays to determine the most common New Year’s Resolutions, as well as the corresponding pitfalls that lead so many guys to break our January promises to ourselves as early as February. To break the chain of breaking our resolutions once and for all, we went about finding easy ways to keep one foot in front of the other as the going gets tough. Then we uncovered some reliable resources to help you stay on track as the year progresses. As you look toward your own 2017 and all its possibilities, take a few tips from our journey of discovery.

BODY CONSCIOUS STICK TO IT Whether you’re pledging to hit the gym more, join a gay sports team, or add a spin class, break your goals down into weekly, even daily, steps that are manageable, and reward yourself for each one.
BEAT TEMPTATION Schedule your fitness time the way you do work meetings and meals. Rather than trying to fit it into your day on the fly, decide when works best in advance, prioritize it, and block off the time.
RESOURCES Expertise goes a long way. Consult the professionals with our preferred gyms and trainers at Gravitee Fitness (graviteeatl.com); Renkema Fitness (renkemafitness.com); and Urban Body Fitness (urbanbodyfitness.com).
GO GLOBAL GET UP, GET OUT Committing to “travel more” doesn’t get you to the airport. Set aside time to plan your trips for the year, including setting dates, determining costs and logging savings deposits to get there.
MAKING IT HAPPEN Excuses are going to crop up. You’re busy. Things at work are crazy. Finances are tight. Those things will always be true. Force yourself into it if you have to: Make reservations, even put down deposits and buy flights way in advance so that you can’t back out. When the time comes and you’re setting sail or lifting off, you’ll be glad you did.
RESOURCES Start your gay and gay-friendly vacations just clicks away. For cruises, consult Atlantis Events (atlantisevents.com) and RSVP Vacations (rsvpvacations.com) with Atlanta-based agents, or try the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association for destination-specific travel agents (iglta.org).

DEBT RELIEF BECOME SOLVENT The pledge to save more and pay off recurring debts is the second most common New Year’s Resolution after fitness and dieting. Makes sense, but it makes longterm stability sense too. Commit to small steps instead of fat stacks.
DOABLE GOALS Make specific budget-friendly rules rather than overarching commitments. Eat one dinner out a week, take a sack lunch to work most days. Shop around for the best price on everything from cars to underwear to insurance, and actively bargain for lower interest on credit cards or switch to one with lower rates. Have a percentage automatically taken out of your check and put into savings. Can you spare an extra $50 or even $20 a month toward savings, mortgage or other loans? They add up.
RESOURCES Financial planners are all over the internet with advice, from Atlanta’s favorite son Clark Howard, to gay and gay-friendly accounting firms that will help you manage your money, like the Robby Group (therobbygroup.com).
NEW ATTITUDE YOU & IMPROVED New Year promises to “be less stressed” or “learn something new” are understandable, even admirable. The problem is they are too amorphous to do you much good. Set goals you can visualize to attain the so-called “new you.”
BE SPECIFIC If you’re looking to reduce stress, take up a hobby that requires creativity and contemplation and takes you out of your normal headspace. Find classes or online instructions on video. Commit to meditation, and seek out training or advice on how to do it best. Want to learn a language? Which one? Which method will work best for you? Buying Rosetta Stone? Taking a class? Find it and do it. Schedule the time each day or week and prioritize it for yourself. Want to spend more time with your boyfriend or partner, or your family? That’s nice. When? Will it be a monthly gathering? Will it be dinner? Game night? How will it look, and what needs to be done to make it happen? Volunteer work strike your fancy? For whom? Call them. Today.

VERSED IN VICE HANG IN THERE If you are trying to cut down or quit addictive behaviors like smoking and drinking, stop binge shopping, or lose weight on a diet, consider a system of accountability, including groups or professional counseling.
BEAT TEMPTATION Environment is the most likely distractor when forming new habits, not willpower or self-control. Deliberately change your situation to avoid temptations, and don’t “white knuckle” through them. Actively re-channel your thoughts. Think not about how it would feel to take a drink, but about how you acted the last time you drank. Think about what an extravagance those shoes are instead of how pretty they are.
RESOURCES Call the Centers for Disease Control’s LGBT Smoking Quitline at 800-QUIT-NOW (784-8669), and consult the gay-specific Health & Human Services program at thisfreelife.betobaccofree.hhs.gov. Gay men can find other counseling and caregiver resources like Atlanta’s Brett Rozen (brettrozentherapy.com); statewide gay advocacy group The Health Initiative (thehealthinitiative.org); and for HIV-positive patients, Positive Impact (positiveimpacthealthcenters.org). Find gay substance abuse meetings in Midtown including AA, NA, CMA and ACA at galano.org.

WELL HELLO.
IT’S DEVEN GREEN DEVEN GREEN is an award-winning comedy performer. You know her from the “Welcome To My Home” parodies, as the satirical Betty Bowers – America’s Best Christian, OCCmakeup ads, “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” and performing her live music shows in brothels across America. She has two cats named “Who” and “When.” DevenGreen.com Dear Deven: I had a tough year, so I want to start 2017 in a better mind set. How can I do this? – “Resilience” Get some sleep, eat better, dress nicely, hold hands and walk more. Or pretend it didn’t happen. It is all about the choices you make from today forward. Dear Deven: What is the best gift you have ever received? – “Grateful” This column is always about you, except for when it is about me. The best gifts have always been, and will always be, experiences with others. Dear Deven: I want 2017 to be my breakout year. How can I ensure this will happen? – “Effort” It’s like this: If you ask others to help you with cultivating your talent, you are empowering yourself as opposed to asking someone to make you famous. Aspirations need harmony. For example, you can’t be lazy and rich. Dear Deven: I honestly don’t know what I want to do. I know I need goals, but I don’t know what. – “Intent” If you don’t know where you are going, how can we follow and support you? Instead of wandering around aimlessly, try narrowing down what may interest you! Make some movement, any movement, and you will find that you will ultimately move in the direction you always wanted to. Dear Deven: I am making a list of resolutions. May you help me? – “Motivation” Say “yes.” Dear Deven: We didn’t do a bunch of things as a couple this last year because we kept getting distracted. Does that mean we really didn’t want to do them? – “Focus” If you wanted it badly enough, you would have followed through and made it happen. At least you both are on the same page about avoiding it! Dear Deven: Regifting? – “Flow” Oh yes! If you will use it, keep it. If not, send the item out into the world to find its proper place. Although, if you personalize a gift with someone’s name on it, they can’t really give that away now, can they? Dear Deven: I’m throwing a NYE party. Why did I do this? I want to cancel! – “Simplicity”

Save the dramatics for a public display. You will not cancel. You will enlist the help of your friends to take over the details. They will throw a great party in your home and at your expense. Lesson: Surround yourself with those who care enough to make you look good. Happy New Year, dear!
