Caernarfon

Stroll back in time by grabbing tickets for Royal Caernarfon’s mighty, medieval castle or soak up the history of the town’s narrow streets for free. Once you’ve explored, tuck into the town’s cafe culture with a full Welsh breakfast.

There’s still time to jump on the 5C from Caernarfon Bus Station to Bangor Bus Station to explore the university city, or pick up the 4 or 4A to Anglesey. Snowdonia is another option on the Sherpa Network (see pages 10 & 11) while the 5 takes you onwards to Llandudno.

Llandudno

Jump off at Victoria Centre for a treasure trove of things to do, from fascinating art and history exhibitions to Wales’ longest pier at 2,295ft. There’s an ancient copper mine dating back thousands of years, great shopping and even a chocolate museum!

Great Orme

Under 10 minutes’ walk from the pier is Great Britain’s only funicular railway. Running for 100 years, it climbs 1500m through the nature reserve. At the Great Orme summit, on a clear day, you can spot Blackpool tower, the Isle of Man and the Lake District. During the summer you can reach the summit on Arriva service 26.

Once you’re back at sea level in Llandudno you’ll find plenty of places for dinner and different cuisines. End your day with a drink at one of the traditional pubs that lines the seafront.
