GOOD DESIGN AWARDS

2021 continued to be incredibly challenging for our design community but there were lots of reasons to celebrate and come together - at least if only virtually - and acknowledge the achievements of this incredible group of people in our community.

Despite the difficulties, we were absolutely overwhelmed by applications across every category for our Awards this year which we announced throughout our 2021 Australian Good Design Awards Week.

The diversity of applicants and designs for the Awards tells us much about the changing nature of our society.

The things we care about including access, equality, belonging and connection are fundamental to so many design challenges today. How will we live in built environments post pandemic, how will hybrid work and learning evolve over time, how do we co-create services which are human centered across all areas of our lives from public health and mental wellbeing to transport, food and more. And how do we urgently address climate change and regenerate the earth with the new tools and technologies we have available to us.

For every challenge we face now, or might forecast, innovative design solutions have never been more pressing.

Importantly, a new generation of end users want to be assured that the solutions we buy and access have been created accessing the rich diversity of thinking, lived experience, gender and culture across our communities.

Sincere congratulations to all of the 2021 Good Design Award winners on the phenomenal achievements of the past year and thank you to our esteemed Judges and partner organisations for your continuing support and dedication to designing a better world.
