Wait Patiently for the Coming One ommit your way to the Lord, trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him” (Psalm 37:5-6). Advent, the four weeks that lead into the Christmas season, is a season of preparation for us and our people. In the season of Advent, the people of God wait for the coming of Jesus, their Messiah. God’s Old Testament people waited for the coming of the promised Messiah with faith. With that same faith, God’s New Testament people wait for the second coming of Jesus. It is this patient waiting that punctuates so much of the Christian life. For that reason, Advent is a spiritual discipline, one which, sadly, has no mirror in our culture. Sometimes we get tired of waiting. As children, in December the time seemed endless as we waited for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. God’s Old Testament people got tired of waiting for the fulfillment of his promises. To counteract this, God encouraged his people as they waited. We need this same encouragement in these last days. In Advent, we wait with patience. The Psalmist confidently sings, “Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him.” This Psalm was directed toward God’s Old Testament people who saw the reality of how the wicked prospered and the righteous suffered. This is a waiting of faith because it rests in the Lord. The Psalmist asserts, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and

he will act.” Patience means that faith never stops waiting confidently for God to act. We live in an impatient world as people hurry to get ready for Christmas. It seems that more and more people are getting frustrated from rushing around too much. Antianxiety medications are an increasing part of our modern existence. Impatience is revealed in traffic “road rage,” in the pushing and hurrying of crowds, and in the exhaustion of preparing for Christmas. But there is a deeper growing impatience in people today with the political process and the economic future. As pastors we also grow impatient because of the press of things that have to be done and the problems we encounter in our ministries. We need to hear the words of the Psalmist, “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will bring it to pass (act).” That’s the Good News of Christmas: God will act. He has already acted on our behalf by sending his only Son into this world of sin and death to save and rescue us from our captivity to them. This trust in the God who has acted will enable us to be still before the Lord and to patiently wait for him. In our needs, in our troubles, in our suffering God is not far from any of us. Learn to trust in him and to wait patiently for him to act. That is the lesson of Emmanuel: God is with us. The Psalmist encourages us to hang on to God, and therefore to wait patiently for him because he will act on our behalf. This Advent, as we approach Christmas, we are reminded not to be stoically patient because things happen. We are to wait patiently for God to act in our lives and in history. It’s like grandparents at the airport expectantly waiting to see their grandchildren. In a picture that Jesus uses, it’s like patiently and expectantly waiting for your wedding day. Don’t worry about the way things are going in this world of Satan’s domination. Don’t fret over the one who progresses in his own way, over the man who carries out evil devices. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him to act. Then Christmas will be a real celebration of joy. This is the season to prepare for his coming! And at that coming, the world will never be the same again.

Hush Money MONEY MATTERS WITH DR. ANDREW LEE

M
ost of us have heard the phrase “hush money,” referring to payments made in order to keep people quiet so they don’t reveal some scandalous secret. But here I’m using the phrase to refer to how many Christians view money as a forbidden topic, never to be talked about. Some of us grew up in households where money was never really discussed, other than occasionally sitting around the table bemoaning our lack of money to do something we wanted to do. Most of us had no idea how much money our parents actually earned at their jobs, nor did we have a clue how much our parents had saved in the bank or in retirement accounts or other investments. Likewise, we often had no idea how deeply our parents were in debt or how much they owed to creditors. There seemed to be this idea of “out of sight, out of mind,” and if we just keep quiet about money generally, our financial situations will all magically resolve themselves. But the truth is quite the opposite: people who are financially successful are also very intentional regarding money; they don’t mind talking about it; in fact, they frequently discuss money issues in order to be financially pro-active—paying off debt, saving and investing, planning for the future. Study after study has shown that in lower-income and middle-income households, money is a taboo topic rarely spoken about, but in upper-income households, money and finances are more often discussed openly among married couples who also include their children in the discussions in order to teach them about money. But should you really be candid with your children (whether minor children or adult children) about how much you make, how much you owe, and how much you’re worth? My feeling is that it depends on your

relationship with your children and whether you believe your children demonstrate enough maturity to have these discussions. One is reminded of the old adage that “you should definitely have life insurance, but not so much life insurance you have to sleep with one eye open.” An irresponsible or immature son or daughter—whether age sixteen or sixty—should probably not be trusted with a parent’s sensitive financial information, nor with the parent’s finances. On the other hand, if your children or grandchildren have proven to be financially responsible and disciplined with money (which is our responsibility), and are eager to learn how to handle money successfully, there are countless “teachable moments” to share by being transparent about the household budget, bills, and investments. My wife and I regularly discuss these details with our teenaged sons (19 and 16) because they have jobs, pay for many of their own bills, and have proven themselves to be fiscally disciplined, and we hope our nine-year-old daughter will one day emulate her brothers in this regard. So why are so many Christian households “hushed” when it comes to having family financial discussions? Some believe (mistakenly) that money is somehow bad or evil, and that being ambitious about having more money or wealth is likewise wrong. Greed or obsession with getting rich can certainly be immoral, but let’s not confuse greed with a healthy desire for success, including financial success. How many people could you help if you acquired wealth through diligence and investing? How much could you contribute to God’s Kingdom if you stopped thinking of money as inherently bad? To “do good works” often (not always) requires money; we would be wise to stop being ashamed or reluctant to have “the money talk.”

W
henever I share my story of a nearly two-decade porn addiction with other guys, I get pretty much the same response every time. “Yeah, but what guy doesn’t struggle?” they ask with a shrug. This nonchalant and defeated attitude many men, even Christian men, have when discussing the sexual addiction epidemic of men rattles me. I understand. After all, I am a man. But I refuse to accept that it has to be this way! In 1 Corinthians 10:13-14, Paul writes “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond
what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out.” Sin has consequences. My addiction took its toll on my family, and was probably the greatest factor in my divorce. But God is a healer! I finally allowed Him to begin the healing process in me five years ago, and since then, I have led a life of purity substantially better than those addicted years. Sure, I slipped a bit along the way, but I am so much healthier and more sober now than I had been for the previous 15 years! The feeling of freedom is indescribable. Having prayed and prayed, read plenty of literature on the subject, attended seminars and workshops, and been a member of multiple recovery groups, I’ve learned a thing or two along the way. “Boundaries equal healthy.” I can still see my counselor’s face, eyes wide open, locked on mine, eyebrows raised. There was no mistaking the importance he was trying to stress to me of having boundaries. At first, I set some. Then, I broke them. Then, I would have a slip-up. Long periods of sobriety were

simply nonexistent for me at times when I did not have healthy boundaries. If you want to break the cycle of any addiction and begin rebuilding your life, one of the steps is establishing boundaries. During the rebuilding of Jerusalem, Nehemiah had to set a number of boundaries throughout the process (Nehemiah 4). For me, I put a strict internet filter on all my devices. Then, I even removed all internet browsers from my phone. I quit watching any movies that had nudity. These were all healthy and necessary for me. Recently I have started dating someone. I am committed to honoring God in this relationship, no matter the outcome. Here are some of the boundaries to which she and I have agreed: our lips not touching, at least until we're engaged (and possibly longer), limiting embraces to side hugs for now, having set times that we get off the phone on weeknights, and having friends call when we are the other's place at night and it is time to leave. After all, if I do what I've always done, I'll get what I've always gotten, and do I really need to go back to that? Here are some guidelines when setting boundaries: 1. An accountability partner is essential. Discuss possible boundaries with a counselor or mentor who you can trust. Be honest about your struggles. Their perspective is vital. 2. It is better to make boundaries that are too strict than too lenient. It is always easier to loosen, than to tighten boundaries. 3. Boundaries are adjustable. Be prepared to discuss adjustments with your mentor as the weeks and months progress. 4. Be persistent. In recovery, it is commons for "slips" to occur, especially early on. Don't give up. Repent. Accept God's forgiveness. Forgive yourself, and get back on track. “We wrestle not against flesh and blood” (Eph 6:12). The devil is fighting for your life, your marriage, your children, your future, and your soul. What are you going to do about it? How to Stay Healthy During the Holiday Season

We want to indulge in the delicious classics and traditional food that is naturally a part of the holidays we each choose to observe. However, this phrase is essential to our mindset when going into the holiday season with goals of maintaining and, for some, losing weight. It can begin to be a type of mantra if you start to go back for the fourth helping of creamy mashed potatoes or the second piece of pecan pie (no judgement here, we’ve all been there). A way to resist some of those tasty classics is to replace some of the old recipes for some new ones that are just as tasty with the added bonus of being healthier.

Exercise during the holidays is hard to work into the already busy itinerary we all have. A Resistance Band (Light-Heavy, depending on fitness level): This piece of equipment can allow you to work both upper body and lower body with methodical isometric movements that will prove difficult for anyone putting in the effort.

Because of the nature of white potatoes and the amount of carbohydrates that are found in them, they aren’t the best option. Especially when it’s the natural process to put butter, sour cream, and cheese on top— which is basically lumping fat on something that can easily be transferred into fat.

DIY Cranberry Sauce My wife has mastered this recipe, and is able to turn simple, sour cranberries into something magnificent to go with the turkey dressing that will undoubtedly accompany the rest of the meal. By making the cranberry sauce yourself, you are able to monitor how much sugar (honey or agave is always a better choice)

Whether the need is for utility assistance, food, residential treatment for those struggling with addiction, mental health issues or spiritual guidance, our social service coordinator can guide the individuals to where they can receive the assistance they need. In addition to social services, children’s character building programs are offered weekly with more than 50 children actively involved. Youth services are also available as well, as a well-structured student leadership program through The Salvation Army’s Inman Coffee that equips our future leaders with marketable skills. The Salvation Army also has a weekly worship service every Sunday morning beginning with a community breakfast at 9:00am, Sunday school at 10:00 and Worship at 11:00am. All are welcome to

I don’t know what to do this Christmas unless I rework those sermons from last year.” I shared some ideas with him, and hopefully was able to inspire him to help his congregation focus on the most wonderful season of the year. So, whether it’s decorating to celebrate and enjoy the Christmas season or preaching sermons to declare “Joy to the world, the Lord is come,” it’s about Christmas, y’all!

Be Ye Kind
ecently, I was meditating on the best advice I could give newly married couples. If I could summarize it all into one sentence, it would be this: Be kind to each another. Turns out, the Apostle Paul felt the same way. In Ephesians 4:32, he writes, “Be kind one to another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” Paul was writing to the Ephesian churches that apparently had to be taught the details of how to be like
Jesus. Have you noticed how new Christians usually don’t have to be told to be kind or forgiving? It’s just the natural reaction of a person who has suddenly discovered true love and forgiveness to do the same for others. But, as we get further along in our Christian walk, we become disillusioned with one another, less forgiving, more apt to judge, until we have to be reminded that we must sometimes choose to be kind, tender-hearted, and forgiving. Meaning, when the warm fuzzies fade away, it then becomes a choice. Look at some of the synonyms of kind: warmhearted, caring, affectionate, loving, considerate, helpful, thoughtful, unselfish, selfless, attentive, compassionate.

Isn’t this how you felt toward your spouse when you first began dating? You cared so much about their well-being, it consumed you. You’d text three times a day to let them know you were thinking of them, pick up little gifts that didn’t cost much but had special meaning to just the two of you. You put effort into making sure they knew how much you loved them. But soon, the stresses of life start to creep in and now the first person to be shoved to the back of your mind is the first person you promised to love, honor, and cherish till the day you die. For years I was a stay-at-home mom to four kids. I was lucky to get a shower every other day, eat a hot meal, or sleep more than 2 hours straight. So, when my husband would walk in from work with his favorite drink or candy bar in his hand, I’d lose it. “You didn’t buy me anything?! Didn’t you think that maybe I’d like a candy bar, too? Do you even think of me during the day?!” Of course, this never worked out the way I hoped. One day he asked why it bothered me so much and I told him: When you walk in with my favorite drink in your hand, without being asked, it’s like you’re yelling, “Hey, I was thinking about you 20 minutes ago without being made to! Because I love you!” One simple act of kindness. You’ve probably noticed that a “kindness” movement is going on all over America right now. Even the world has begun to notice a lack of care toward one another, whether due to differences in politics, race, or religion. We’ve forgotten how to disagree and still be compassionate. So then, how much more should the movement to be kind start at home, within our own family, especially as followers of true love Himself, Jesus Christ. About The Author

If your family includes a senior who lives in an assisted living community, here are some meaningful ways to celebrate. How to Celebrate the Holidays with a Senior in Assisted Living Having a senior in assisted living allows you two great options for celebrating: you can host your own gathering there or invite the family to attend festivities organized by the community.
Celebration #1: Have a Family Party at the Community ‘Tis the season for family parties, and one of the best places for holding yours could be at the senior living community where your loved one resides. Your senior loved one will enjoy having a chance to show off their family. A surefire way to make the party more festive is to decorate for the season. This can be easily accomplished with a trip to the dollar store. Grab a cart and fill it up with holiday tableware,

decorations, and everything that’s appropriate for your gathering. The idea is to transform the space into a winter wonderland or a holiday extravaganza. Don’t forget music, presents, and a way to get everyone singing carols. For a special treat, consider hiring a piano player or DJ who can lead the group in singing holiday songs. If that isn’t possible, even a CD player with holiday CDs will do. Be sure to call early to book the space for your get-together. You’ll want to coordinate everything with the team at the community. Ask about catering possibilities because the community’s dining services department may be able to help. Celebration #2: Attend Some Holiday Events at Their Community It’s natural for friends to exchange stories and to show interest in one another’s family members. Residents in senior living celebrate their ups and downs together, including those of their family members. So when community events are open to families, it’s a great opportunity for everyone to meet. If you’ve met your mom’s (or dad’s) friends before, it’s a chance to catch up and have a good time together. But the person having the best time will probably be your loved one. Catching a glimpse of him yesterday as he walked past me, I noticed how cute he was, chattering away, and grinning with a mischievous grin. He had dark hair, and looked to be about 8 years old. I wondered why the red crutches? Then I looked down. This little boy had one leg. Even though I don't know him, just like each and every one of us, he has a story too. There wasn't any complaining, or whining. What I saw and heard was a little boy full of life and joy, and loving being at the beach.

Earlobe Reduction/Repair aving earlobe reduction, reset, or repairs are common and fairly inexpensive surgical procedures. Earlobes come in all shapes, floppy, attached, detached, small, medium, and large. Some patients have congenital enlargement of the earlobes. Earlobe contouring can be completed to change the lobe to the desired shape/size. While heavy earrings or gauges may be popular today, one might regret the effects on the earlobes with age. Not to worry, stretched, misshaped, and torn earlobes are typically repairable as an in-office surgery procedure. Many young men have regrets regarding earring choices and cannot enter military service without first having their ear lobes surgically repaired. Split/torn earlobes or stretched earlobes are a common problem faced by many women. Fortunately, repairing the earlobe is a relatively straightforward office procedure that can be performed in less than an hour. In certain cases, however, the problem may be that the earlobe has thinned and the earring will not stay in the desired position, but will instead droop downward. In these cases it is often possible to rejuvenate the earlobe simply by using a dermal filler to plump it up. This creates the support for an earring to remain in the ideal position. Simple tears of the earlobe are straight forward. Local anesthetic is injected into the earlobe and surrounding tissues. The section of extra tissue, scar, or stretched piercing is removed entirely. The two halves are then reconnected and approximated with fine sutures with reset of the earlobe to a more natural position/shape. After about a week, there may be a thin white scar but this should fade over time. Laser resurfacing to the scars can be completed in the healing phase. Ears may then be re-pierced after 6-12 weeks, should patients choose to wear earrings again. There are situations that warrant more complex otoplasty, or cosmetic ear surgery. Dr. Sandra Lee

recently appeared on The Doctors TV show to repair an ear stretched out by ear gauging. Ear gauging is a process where the earlobes are stretched radically to accommodate jewelry. The long term effects are not very attractive and many choose to repair their stretched earlobes when they want to enter the corporate workplace or begin their own families. Branches of the military require earlobe piercings to be small; small enough not to allow light to pass through the opening. If the earlobe is stretched enough to allow light to pass; surgical repair is required prior to enlistment. For keloids, or hypertophic changes of the skin due to trauma, incisions are often seen in the earlobe due to piercing. Keloid scar tissue can be excised with surgical repair. Steroids and other chemotherapy agents can be infiltrated at the site to help prevent reoccurrence of the keloid hypertrophic scars. The Earlobe Reduction procedure may actually restore enlarged earlobes or stretched earlobes to their previous condition by excising extra flesh. Earlobe reset can also be completed for stretched or misshaped earlobes due to poor earlobe set from short scar facelift surgical procedures. The cost to repair torn earlobes varies by surgeon and by region ranging from $350 for simple tears up to $1,500 for more complex repairs. Earlobe repair is usually considered cosmetic and is not a covered benefit for most insurance carriers. Earlobe repair/reset is typically performed in an accredited office surgery suite using sedation and local anesthesia. Post laser scar reduction can be completed to fade the surgical scars.

The Christmas Tear t was almost midnight on Christmas Eve. My family was in bed and I was up late trying to arrange the most perfect Christmas a family could ever have. Visions of extravagant decorations danced in my head as my heart longed for more, so much more. I wanted my home to look like the ones I saw in those special edition magazines. Sadness overshadowed my Christmas cheer when I compared the gifts under my tree to those I really wanted to give. In an effort to lift my spirits I lit a candle. A tiny spark rose to form a bright, amber flame. For a moment I became lost in its glow. I watched as wax slowly melted over the rim and trickled down to the base of the candle It reminded me of soft, warm tear drops. Before I realized what was happening, I felt the sting of tears welling up in my eyes. Tears I couldn’t hold back a moment longer. So I cried until I emptied myself out of the stress that was eating away at me.

My attention was drawn once again to the candle. I thought of how the crimson blood of Jesus flowed down that old rugged cross much like the hot red wax melting down the sides of my candle. I realized at that moment that I needed less of the holiday spirit and more of the Holy Spirit. I asked Jesus to forgive me for my selfish agenda and to fill my home with His sweet presence. As I did, my “silent night” transformed into a “holy night”. I let go of my grand illusions and made room for something far greater. As I dwelt on the real meaning of Christmas, I began to see the faces of those less fortunate. I pictured a mother in a check-out line struggling with what to keep and what to put back. I imagined a man shivering in the cold, with no place to call home. I saw an elderly person all alone in a hospital bed with no one to care; and then I envisioned the face of an innocent child waiting for a meal in a soup kitchen, aching with hunger. All of those people yearn for the simple comforts of life that I take for granted every day. They need a gentle hug, a warm meal, a kind word, maybe even clothing or shelter. But most of all they need to know the true meaning of Christmas and see it lived out through people like me. My little candle gave its all that night. Remnants of wax on the empty stand where it once sat remind me of the empty tomb Jesus left behind, after He gave His all for me. The simple act of lighting one small candle caused me to reflect on the Light of the world, Jesus Christ. As I did, He lit every single room in my heart with compassion for people and Christmas hasn’t been the same since. “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16, NKJV).

Ingredients 3 cups sugar ¾ cup margarine (melted) ⅔ cup of evaporated milk 1-10 ounce package of peanut butter chips 1-7 oz jar of marshmallow creme ⅓ cup smooth peanut butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions Combine sugar, margarine and milk in a heavy 2 ½ quart sauce pan and bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Continue boiling five minutes over medium heat and stirring well. (A very important part of the process or it won’t thicken). Add in the following, in order, beating each until blended before adding the next ingredient. Promises are in a Bible for a reason, and sometimes we try to rush or question those promises when they do not happen. This book is a good reminder to all that God is still in control, and He

Keep believing, have faith, not allowing your emotions to interfere with God’s process. The favor of God that’s on you is opening doors and preparing to walk you into the place you’ve dreamed about. Plug into God’s love this holiday season and be a blessing to others. Don’t stress over being single. Live life, level up, enjoy yourself,

It Is Well (Holy Roar)

remember writing a poem for him. It was the first poem I wrote after his diagnosis. Mr. Vineyard had just been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. The last line of the poem said, "God, I have no idea what you're doing, But I still believe." Mr. Vineyard's response was so simple, Yet so profound. He said, "Wow. Honey to my soul." He often reminded me that the writer of, "It is well with my soul," Wrote the song after a great tragedy. Cancer is a great tragedy. I don't do a great job of saying "It is well," With just the little things. And the big things, I fight to keep control over. I could learn something from Mr. Vineyard, He roared the loudest by giving up control. I want control, But God is calling me to let go now. He is calling me to surrender.
Though demons flee at the sound of my holy roar, Sometimes, Roaring on my own is not enough. My roar is powerful, But the one who gave me that power, Now calls me to be silent. He calls me to be still. He is roaring for me, So I can be still. Like Mr. Vineyard, I roar the loudest when I give up control. The truth has come to light. I am aware of God's plans for my near future. And they are good. But the enemy is aware of them too, He is doing everything he can to destroy God's plan. My roar alone is not enough this time. I don't want to let go, But I know that God is for me, And that is honey to my soul. Yes! It is well with my soul. So devil, You can't defeat me, I am staying the course. My eyes are open, And now, You will hear the roar of my Mighty Father!

Read the verse along with the verses around it and write down specific things you learned. This is called subject summary. I have listed an example below: Gen. 20:7 – God told Abimelech that Abraham would pray for him Gen. 20:17 – Abraham prayed for Abimelech; his wife was able to bear children again Gen. 24:12 – Abraham’s servant prayed for God to show favor to Abraham and provide Isaac a bride Gen. 24:15 – Before the servant finished praying, Rebekah appeared Gen. 24:45 – The servant explained to Laban that Rebekah was an answer to prayer Gen 25:21 – Isaac prayed for God to open the womb of Rebekah; she had a child In this phase, you are simply compiling a list of scriptures and writing a brief description of what you learned from those verses. Look at all the different things we learned from just a few verses. We learn that prayer is a powerful practice that enables the barren to give birth. These prayers were answered quickly. The more you delve into verses on prayer, the more you will learn, such as: reasons we pray, types of prayers, and the attitude we should have while we pray. Psychology was one of my studies in college. As part of this field of study, I took a class called Educational Psychology. We learned about the inner workings of the human brain. One of the things we learned was that the brain retains information easier when you attach one piece of information to something you already know. This creates a web of knowledge that will hold up over time. Allow me to explain a web of knowledge.

Compiling a list of scriptures in the way that I have presented above will help you accomplish this. Your brain will have an easier time connecting one verse to another because the overall subject matter of those verses is the same (in this case, prayer). This will assist you with remembering Bible verses. Scripture memorization is a powerful tool both in our personal lives and for evangelism purposes. As you apply this specific Bible study method, you will remember that there are multiple instances of the word prayer in the book of Genesis. As you review these
references over and over again, you will remember the chapters better. The more you study your notes, the deeper these memories become engrained. You will eventually be able to remember chapter and verse. This reinforces other verses on prayer you have studied. This is a simple way to explain how a web of knowledge is created. It can be applied to any subject you study. Remember to pray before you study or read the Bible. God will help you in this process. Lost
ave you ever been lost? No, really lost? I have and here is what I learned. It was October 1985 and I was 18 at the time and desired to be adventurous and go hunting in a 21,000 acre Wildlife Management Area in Florida just about one hour from my house. Upon getting there, I parked about a quarter mile in the woods on an old logging road. I opened the trunk of my car, got my rifle, got my bearings on my compass, reached back in grabbed my cartridges, closed my trunk, and took off into the swamp. It was a beautiful morning that led into the afternoon. I must have walked for miles discovering bits of old Florida, hog signs, deer tracks, and turkey feathers. About 4:00PM, I knew it was time to head back to the car. I reached in my hunting vest to get my compass and discovered it was not there. Checking every pocket on everything. No Compass. Then it hit me. I had accidentally placed it down in the bed of the trunk when I picked up my rifle cartridges. Now trying not to panic, I looked for the sun and as expected heavy clouds had moved in. Taking a deep breath and thinking I knew where I was at, I took off towards the car. After about an hour and a half, I realized I didn't know where I was at. There was still no sun due to the light rain that had begun. Okay, so here is the scenario: lost, swamp, knee deep water, low light,

now raining, already walked around for an hour and a half, and nothing. Coming to a high sandy spot, I squatted down by a huge cypress tree and prayed a simple prayer. “Lord Jesus, please help me.” In the quiet of the moment of exhaustion, prayer and yes, desperation, I heard something. It was the interstate. I-75 at its finest. It was semi-trucks decelerating way off in the distance when going over the wet overpass. I knew that it was to my west and my car was that way. After walking for another hour and a half I found my car about 7:30PM, right at dusk. When I opened my trunk, there was my compass nice and dry safely where I had placed it. Many things happen when we are lost. We may panic, run, lose self-control, give up, rely on ourselves, not think straight, shut-down, or cry out. But, have you ever thought of just asking Christ to help you? I believe it was my simple request and peaceful moment with Him that He revealed, as my true compass, the right direction for me to go. So let me ask you. Are you lost? Where is your compass? Have you ever asked Christ (the true compass) to help you, save you, make Himself real to you? Take a moment right now and ask Him.
