The Truth of Never and Always

One of the many things we teach in kindergarten is identifying opposites. You know, things like hot and cold, high and low, long and short, big and little, and up and down. Some kindergarteners get it quickly and others, well…it takes a little longer.

How about never and always? Many adults struggle with this one. Some get it quickly and others, well…it takes a little longer.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6, NIV).

He will never leave us nor forsake us!

Many times, we have trouble taking Him at His Word. However, if God says it, that settles it—no matter what we think. There is never any reason to doubt Him.

“Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20, ESV).

God will never leave us! He will always be with us! Charles Billingsley’s song, “Always,” is such an awesome reminder of this truth:

“My foes are many, they rise against me But I will hold my ground

I will not fear the war, I will not fear the storm

My help is on the way, my help is on the way

Troubles surround me, chaos abounding

My soul will rest in You

I will not fear the war, I will not fear the storm

My help is on the way, my help is on the way

Oh, my God, He will not delay

My refuge and strength always

I will not fear, His promise is true

My God will come through always, always I lift my eyes up, my help comes from the Lord”

May these truths be so ingrained in your heart that you will rise above all fear and doubt, trusting in the God whose promises are true always!
