The Augusta Goodwill Career Campus Goodwill provides job skills training, education, and career development for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Our graduates contribute to the foundation of stronger families and more prosperous communities. The completion of our Goodwill Career Campus in Macon in 2007 increased Goodwill’s capacity to support a range of targeted industries, including custodial, automotive, and hospitality. Over the past five years, we have placed over 6,800 people into jobs, representing new payroll of more than $164 million added to the economy. These numbers help illustrate an important result of our mission – our work supports both human and economic development. We are now expanding our programs and our community presence in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). Through the generous support of local donors we achieved our Phase I fundraising goal for the Augusta Career Campus and completed construction on the upscale retail training store, café/bookstore, and Job Connectionsm. Phase II will expand existing services and bring new ventures to fruition like Helms Career Institute, the first Goodwill educational venture of its kind to offer a fully accredited curriculum of certificate, diploma, and degree programs best suited to meet the employment needs of people in the CSRA. From an economic perspective, after all phases are complete, the Augusta Career Campus will create 200 new full time jobs, and annually place an estimated 500 Job Connectionsm customers and graduates from Helms Career Institute into competitive employment and career advancement. A conservative estimate over 10 years translates to the creation of more than 5,700 new graduates/employees with paycheck earnings exceeding $600 million in new payroll purchasing power and over $182 million in new taxes. These economic impact results do not include the substantive reduction in tax payer burden as the chronically unemployed begin to experience the self-sufficiency achieved by the pride and dignity of a paycheck. We acknowledge it is an endeavor that will only be achieved with a clear vision, strong corporate stewardship, and new support of those who believe in our mission. Your donation, whether a capital campaign contribution or a faithful yearly gift, will help provide the resources to increase our capacity to offer a “hand-up” in the CSRA. We welcome your support and invite you to help build Goodwill.
