WELCOME TO GOODWOOD RACECOURSE The Directors and staff at Goodwood Racecourse welcome you warmly to the inaugural Qatar Goodwood Festival. Steeped in racing history, the five-day Festival Meeting has received an exciting and lucrative 10-year partnership with Qatar. The link between us has enabled Goodwood to create one of the most significant and valuable meetings in the world, with prize money soaring to £4.5million. Notable increases are to the Group 1 Qatar Sussex Stakes, which is the first race at Goodwood to have a £1million total prize fund. Past winners include the brilliant Frankel and Kingman, making it one of the most prestigious races worldwide. The Qatar Nassau Stakes will see an increase in value from £180,000 to £600,000. Feature races for older horses including the Qatar Lennox Stakes and Qatar Goodwood Cup have more than trebled in prize money. The pair of Group 2 juvenile races, the Qatar Vintage Stakes and Qatar Richmond Stakes carry almost four times their previous prize money. There is all to play for in the sprint category too, with the Qatar King George Stakes increasing in value to £300,000. The Qatar Stewards’ Cup Heritage Handicap will offer prize money in keeping with its status as one of the most challenging handicaps to win; this year the total prize fund has climbed to £250,000. We are promised a competitive and thrilling week of racing with an International flavour like never before. We very much hope that your horse(s) will be able to compete at Goodwood and become part of its history. This booklet should include everything that you need to know from the race programme for the week through to useful information on racecourse facilities and stabling. We have also included maps and transport options. If however you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact one of our team. Useful contact details can be found at the back of this booklet. We look forward to welcoming you to Goodwood, and wish you a successful and enjoyable meeting.

Course Characteristics Goodwood’s pronounced gradients and sharp bends favour the active, handy type of horse, the fluent mover rather than the big, long-striding runner, and this applies especially in short races and when the going is fast.
Position of starting stalls Straight Course: on stands side rail. Round Course: on inside rail except 1m 3f & 1m 4f, on outside rail.

We are honouring the commitment of the inspirational and brilliant women who will be taking part – all of these ladies will be joining us for the evening. The evening itself is quite a spectacle, where the great Regency House comes alive – as though everyone is walking into a film set in the early 19th Century. Everything is entirely lit by candles and after dinner horses are raced around the park which is all lit with flares. Dress code is Regency or Black Tie Tickets are £200 per person, please contact regency@goodwood.com for further details and booking forms.
