First elected to office in 2010, Bill Schuette is the 53rd Attorney General for the State of Michigan. During his tenure in office, Schuette has been a powerful voice for victims. He formed the Michigan Commission on Human Trafficking and engineered a plan to fund the testing of thousands of long-abandoned DNA evidence kits in order to provide victims of sexual assault with the justice they seek. Currently, Schuette is leading an independent investigation into the Flint Water crisis to determine what laws, if any, were violated. Schuette has successfully defended Michigan's Constitution before the United States Supreme Court, protecting equal treatment in admissions to the state's public universities. He also defended Michigan police and firefighters’ pensions during Detroit's historic bankruptcy. Over the course of his career, Schuette has served as a United States Congressman, Director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture, a state senator, and a judge with the Michigan Court of Appeals. He is the only Attorney General in Michigan history to have served in the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of state government. In addition, he is currently serving as the 2015-16 Chairman of the Republican Attorneys General Association.

A graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, Schutte studied at the University of Aberdeen, in Aberdeen, Scotland, and later received his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Schuette and his wife Cynthia reside in their hometown of Midland, Michigan and are the parents of two children, Heidi and Bill. Together, Schuette and his wife created the Michigan Harvest Gathering, a food and fund drive to benefit Michigan's food banks. Since 1991, the Michigan Harvest Gathering has raised more than $10 million and collected nearly 10 million pounds of food. Link to official bio
