U.S. Senator Tom Cotton grew up on his family’s cattle farm in Yell County, Arkansas. Upon graduation from high school, he received his B.A. and law degree from Harvard University. He had clerked with the U.S. Court of Appeals and was engaged in private law practice when the September 11th attacks inspired him to join the U.S. Army. Cotton served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army for nearly five years. He completed two combat tours, serving in Iraq with the 101st Airborne and in Afghanistan. Between his two tours, Cotton served with The Old Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Ranger Tab. Upon returning home, Cotton worked for McKinsey & Co. and served one term in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2015, he was elected to the U.S. Senate, where he currently represents the state of Arkansas. Cotton’s serves on the Banking Committee, the Intelligence Committee, and the Armed Services Committee, where he chairs the Air Land Power Subcommittee. Tom and his wife, Anna, have one son, Gabriel.
