U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, a candidate in the 2016 Republican presidential primary, won election to the United States Senate in 2012, where he currently represents the state of Texas. During his tenure in office, Senator Cruz has led the fight to repeal Obamacare, to stop President Obama’s executive amnesty, and to defend life, marriage, and the U.S. Constitution. Before running for the U.S. Senate, Cruz served as solicitor general for the state of Texas and worked as an attorney in private practice. In these roles, Cruz authored more than 80 U.S. Supreme Court briefs and presented 43 oral arguments, including nine before the U.S. Supreme Court. Senator Cruz earned an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. He and his wife, Heidi, have two daughters; Caroline and Catherine. Their family lives in Houston, Texas, where they attend Houston’s First Baptist Church. Official Bio
