DAVID GILBERT PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE GREATER CLEVELAND SPORTS COMMISSION MONDAY

David E. Gilbert is President and CEO of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and Destination Cleveland. In this role, Gilbert has led the Commission towards its goal of making Greater Cleveland the nation’s most notable destination for amateur sporting events and activities. Since re-founding the Sports Commission in 2000, Gilbert has had significant success in attracting over 160 events to the Cleveland area that have in turn contributed over $410 million in economic activity to the city and surrounding areas. These events include the NCAA Women’s Final Four, National Senior Games, NBC Gravity Games, U.S. Figure Skating Championships, U.S. Gymnastics Championships, International Children’s Games, the McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Game, and U.S. Olympic Trials Box-Offs. Gilbert is also President and CEO of Destination Cleveland, the region’s convention and visitors bureau. It is a private, non-profit civic organization that generates demand for business and leisure tourism to the region to improve economic vitality. The organization’s efforts contribute to the region’s $15 billion tourism industry and support 170,000 jobs. Link to official bio
