Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy has represented California in the U.S. House since 2007. A fourth-generation resident of Kern County, California, he grew up in a working-class family and ran a small business, Kevin O’s Deli. He has applied this background to his work on behalf of small businesses and positions on burdensome taxes and regulations. During his time in Congress, McCarthy has led the fight to improve government efficiencies, boost free markets, and protect individual liberties. He helped block the largest tax increase in American history, has fought to stop Washington, D.C. from interfering in health care, and has passed bills that boost job creation. McCarthy and his wife, Judy, live in Bakersfield, California. They have two children: Connor and Meghan. Link to official bio
