Tom Barrack is a real estate investor and the Founder and Executive Chairman of Colony Capital. Colony, which is headquartered Los Angeles, California, is one of the oldest and most well-recognized private equity firms in the world. Prior to starting his own business, Barrack served in the Reagan administration as Deputy Undersecretary of the Department of the Interior. He received his B.A. from University of Southern California in 1969 and earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego in 1972. Barrack has also received an Honorary Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Pepperdine University and is a Trustee at the University of Southern California. Barrack has made investments and served on the Boards of international companies including: Accor (France), Aman Hotels (Singapore), Aozora Bank (Japan), Carrefour (France), Challenger (Australia), Continental Airlines, Fairmont Hotels (Canada), First Republic Bank, Kerry Properties (Hong Kong), Kerzner Group (Dubai), Korea First Bank (Korea), Miramax Studios, New West Federal Savings and Loan, Paris St. Germain (France), Punch Taverns (UK), Raffles Hotel Group (Singapore), Savoy Group (UK), and Virgin Cinemas (UK). Barrack and Donald Trump have worked together on many real estate deals during their time in business.
