Performance notes: The plan of musicians’ location:

w View angle for "Chain reaction 1".

r View angle for "Chain reaction 2".

v All performers should be sited the way they would see each partners all the time freely ("trigger mechanism" in "Chain reaction") and the conductor. Musicians should be settled down as close to each other as possible!

For all ensemble: 3

A great part of the composition is performed at a maximum volume. It is necessary to control the balance between the amplified sound of live instruments and electronics. Feedback, microphone blow-out, and a noise caused by the colliding of musicians’ microphone stands is not considered a negative factor but quiet admissible. The sound has to be distorted! Each musician needs amplification by microphone; two microphones are necessary for violin: the first microphone is for straight amplification and the second one is for processing sound by "Logic Pro" program. 1) Different types of the notations are used in the composition: - usual (for example: from the beginning to "A", ...)

- event’s notation — the general time of a fragment is indicated in “seconds” (for example: "A", "E", ...)

- conductor’s control of “chain reaction” fragments — the more a font size, the more slowly tempo (for example: "Q", "R", ...)

2) Conductor’s notation: 2 beats | 3 beats | 4 beats

3) Total amount of performances of this bar:

4times

3

etc.

4) Important syntactical pause for the whole ensemble:

; 5) Distance from a microphone: - usual (up to 1 m)

smf

- close (up to 50 m)

A smf @

- very close (up to 10 m) smf

The musical tissue has been organized by a chain reaction principle a certain sound element that was performed by one musician becomes a trigger for turning on a following element at other musician an so on. Each performer has a partner (the "trigger mechanism"). As soon as you hear / see that your partner has made the action, you should continue a chain, using the tempo of the previous performer. You can use and rotate any patterns (a, b, c, ..., x) for your action!
