Gosford Times 18th October 1917 Private Thomas Richard French, of Gosford, is reported to have died of wounds on 16 th September. Corporal Alfred James Hammond, of Penang Mountain, was killed in action on 20 th September. Both fatalities are officially recorded in this week’s casualty list.

BRADBURY, Mann Street, Gosford, desires to return her sincere thanks to all friends for their kindness, also for letters, cards, and messages of condolence. I also wish to thanks the members of Red Cross Branch for their sympathy in the recent loss of my beloved soldier brother, Thomas Richard French.


Gosford Times 19th September 1918 ROLL OF HONOR FRENCH;- In loving memory of Private Thomas R., died of wounds in France, 16th September, 1917. Aged 23 years Dearly loved son of Mr. and Mrs. T French, Roselle. Your true face I picture, As now I pen these lines, In bygone happy times, When my heart does long for you I seem to hear you say, Keep a brave heart, mother, dear, We’ll meet again some day Inserted by his loving parents, and brother, Will FRENCH;-In loving memory of my dear brother, Private Thomas Richard, who died of wounds in France. 16th September, 1917. Aged 23 years We mourn your loss dear brother, But your action is sweet balm, For he is ever a hero, the man who dies For his Country, God, Friends and King. Inserted by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Will Bradbury FRENCH;-In loving memory of my dear brother, Private Thomas Richard, who died of wounds in France. 16th September, 1917. Aged 23 years Far away in France he is lying, Far away from the land of his birth; He gave his life for his CountryMan’s noblest deed on earth.
