Newcastle Morning Herald and Miners’ Advocate Saturday 13th January 1917 pg. 3 ISLINGTON Mr and Mrs Hackworthy Islington, have received a cable message from their son, Lloyd Hackworthy, stating that he had arrived safe in England and is well.
Gosford Times 13th June 1918 Killed In Action News has been received of the death in action of Private S L Hackworthy, which occurred in France on 6th May. Private Hackworthy, whose age was 21, enlisted with the 35 th Battalion in July, 1916, and saw considerable service, being twice wounded before going into action for the last time. Prior to enlistment he was attached to the staff of the Commercial Bank at Gosford as ledger-keeper, and all who knew him liked him. His parents reside in Islington, Newcastle.

Newcastle Morning Herald and Miners’ Advocate Wednesday 14th November 1917 pg. 5 DISTRICT CASUALTIES PRIVATE HACKWORTHY;- Mr and Mrs D Hackworthy, of Islington, have been advised that their son, Private Lloyd Hackworthy, has been admitted to Military Hospital, Canterbury, suffering from gunshot wounds in the hand and forearm.
Newcastle Morning Herald and Miners’ Advocate Tuesday 21st May 1918 pg. 5 DISTRICT CASUALTIES KILLED IN ACTION PRIVATE HACKWORTHY;- Mr R Hackworthy, of Anderton street, Islington, yesterday received word that his son, Private Stanley H Hackworthy, of "Newcastle's Own Battalion, was killed in action on May 6. Private Hackworthy was formerly ledger-keeper with the Commercial Banking Company of Australia, at Gosford. He left in August 1916.
The Maitland Daily Mercury Tuesday 21st May 1918 pg. 7 OUR NEWCASTLE LETTER ( From our Correspondent) NEWCASTLE Tuesday Mr H Hackworthy of Anderton-street Islington, has received word that his son, Pte Stanley H Hackworthy, of the 35th Battalion, was killed in action on May 6. Pte. Hackworthy was formerly ledger-keeper with the Commercial Banking Company of Australia at Gosford. He left in August, 1916.
