Sydney Morning Herald 9th June 1917 pg.12 ROLL OF HONOR. MACKLEY- Killed in action in France, first week in May, Quarter-master-sergeant Tom Mackley, aged 25 years. Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for his friends. Inserted by his loving grandmother and aunts, Mary Mackley, Alice Bartlem, and Ada Crosland, Canley Vale. MACKLEY-Killed in action in France, between May 6 and 8, 1917, Q.M.S. tom Mackley, aged 25 years, loved cousin of J. and N. Ladd, Darlington; also Bglr. J. Ladd (on active service). “He died that we might live”.
Gosford Times 14th June 1917 SPENCER (From Our Correspondent) Word has been received that an old Spencer boy, Private Tom Mackley, has made the supreme Sacrifice in France. Another, Private Jack Donovan, is reported wounded.
