Gosford Times 8th September 1916 IN MEMORIUM MARTIN- Died of wounds on 8th August, 1916, in France, Cyril Martin, aged 22 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin, Matcham. Somewhere in France he is lying, Somewhere in France he fell. He died for the cause of England, And the honor of Englishmen. Inserted by his sorrowing father and mother. IN MEMORIUM MARTIN- Died of wounds on 8th August, 1916, in France, Cyril Martin, Aged 22 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin, Matcham Sadly a sister’s thinking Of her soldier brother brave, Who fell for the cause of Freedom, And lies in a hero’s grave. Inserted by his loving sisters, Vena and Muriel.
Gosford Times 9th August 1917 ROLL OF HONOR MARTIN-In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Cyril Henry, died of wounds in France, August 8th, 1916. Aged 22 years. To-day as we look at your photo, A soldier so brave and true; Do you know our hearts are aching, And longing dear Cyril for you. Somewhere in France you are sleeping, We know that you fought brave and true; You fought for your King and country, And the flag of the red, white and Blue.
