Sydney Morning Herald 22nd August 1917 pg. 8 ROLL OF HONOR. STUART – Killed in France (previously reported missing), Lewis Gunner Fred (Snowy) Stuart, aged 29, second son of Mr and Mrs W. Stuart, Woy Woy. The angels know your grave to-day, And weave for you the victor’s crown. Inserted by his parents, sister Leila, and brothers, Bert and Walter (on active service).

Gosford Times 23rd August 1917 WOY WOY (From our Correspondent) Mr Walter Stuart, of Woy Woy, has been informed that his son, Gunner Fred Stuart, who was reported missing in last issue, has been killed in action in France. Fred, who was a prominent lightweight boxer of a few years ago, was practically reared in Woy Woy, and was very popular with all who knew him. We desire to extend our sympathy to Mr and Mrs Stuart, who proved himself a thorough fighter, whether in the hempen square or out of it.

Gosford Times 6th June 1918 ROLL OF HONOR. STUART – In loving memory of our dear son, Fred (Snowy) Stuart, 45th Battalion, killed in action at Messines, June 7th 1917, second son of Mr and Mrs W. Stuart, Woy Woy. “At God’s will a hero fell.” Inserted by his loving parents and brother, Walter, on active service.

Gosford Times 5th June 1919 STUART – In loving memory of our dear son, Fred (Snowy) Stuart Lewis Gunner, 45th Battalion, killed in action June 7th, 1917. A higher service has to him been given, A crown upon his brow, a home in heaven. God help us to say “Thy will be done.” Inserted by Wal and Fanny Stuart, Woy Woy.
