Gosford Times 8th September 1916 KILLED IN ACTION. On Friday Mr Jack Weir received a cable stating that his brother Stuart, had been killed in action on 23 rd July. Deceased was a former resident of Gosford, when his parents were in business here, and was a fine young chap, popular with all that knew him. It is when we think of young Australians like Stuart Weir who have lost their lives in the fearful war, that we realize the terrible sacrifice Australia is being called upon to make in its efforts to assist the mother country. We join with the community in extending sympathy to the bereaved parents and family in the loss of their brave soldier son and brother.
Gosford Times 15th September 1916 IN MEMORIUM WEIR – Killed in action in France, July 26th, 1916, Private James Stuart Duncan Weir, second eldest son of Mr and mrs John Weir, of Homebush Crescent Homebush, late of Drummoyne and Gosford. Aged 21 years. Far away from those he loved, In a hero’s grave he lies; There is nothing left to answer, But his photo on the wall. Inserted by his loving father and mother, brothers and sisters, Homebush. IN MEMORIUM WEIR – In loving remembrance of our loving brother, Private James Stuart Duncan Weir, killed in action in France, July 26th, 1916. Aged 21 years. No one he loved was by his side, To hear his last faint sigh; Or whisper just one loving word, Before he closed his eyes. He bade no one his last good-bye, He waved his hand to none; His spirit flew before we knew That from us he had gone. Inserted by his brother Jack, and sister-in-law Amy, and family.
