Years ago before I was a successful Personal Trainer I thought I was doing everything right, exercising a lot, eating fairly well but I wasn’t seeing results. Does this sound a bit like you? Do you enjoy socialising but always feel like you’re having to turn plans down when you are dieting? Then keep reading… I enjoyed eating out and having wine with my meals but I couldn’t get results when doing so and I’d feel guilty for enjoying myself, I wanted balance. I am about to share with you some key principals that changed my outlook on dieting and fitness forever and it’s these key factors that allow my clients to have a life without worrying about not getting results. Step 1: Track Your Calories There are many calorie calculators online you can use that will give you a great starting point. A Coach/Personal Trainer will be able to work these out for you on a more specific level, however lets just get you started first and foremost.

Step 2: Plan for Social Occasions
Now it’s important to highlight that eating healthy nutritious food is very important and should still make up 80% of your diet.
If possible, go to a restaurant where you can still track your calories. Most big chain restaurants have the calories for their meals online, making staying on track easy. Save calories throughout the day and estimate your meal. In fact, OVER-estimate. That way you know you will have enough calories left that day to enjoy your meal without the guilt. Step 3: How to Factor in Alcohol Calories can be worked out across an entire week rather than daily. So if you know you are going to have a drink on Saturday night, save some calories throughout the week and bank them for your night out. If you can save 100-200 calories Sunday to Friday, that’s 600-1200 calories saved up that can be added to your Saturday night, enough for some beers and quite a lot of gin! This then means your weekly calorie consumption stays the same so you can continue getting results. Top tip: opt for white spirits such as gin or vodka and diet mixers for lower calories. Step 4: Calories: Track-Accommodate-Adjust To keep progressing and to get even better results, you will need to know how to make changes to your plan as you go. You may need to adapt your diet to suit your lifestyle in order to get desired results. BLONDIE BAKER’S TREATS SELLING LIKE HOTCAKES: AMY DALBY’S STORY OF AMBITION AND SUCCESS Recently I was offered the opportunity to travel to the Fenwick Newcastle store and take a guest spot in the food hall for the end of August bank holiday weekend. This is once again something I could never have imagined possible, it went incredibly well, selling over 400 Blondies in one day with great feedback from everyone and an invitation to return for the rest of the season. My background has always been in food, from the age of 15 I have worked in pubs and restaurants. Whilst pursuing a career in TV and Film production I always kept my hand in the food industry for additional income. I finally realised that my passion was firmly with food and worked full time doing so until I gave birth in February 2018.
The inspiration for founding Blondie Baker came in March 2019 whilst I was on maternity leave after giving birth to my son, Albie. The thought of returning to work drove me to find something that I could do that meant I wasn’t leaving my son everyday. I wanted a better home / work life balance so that I could spend as much time as possible taking Albie out to various baby groups, parks, soft-plays and farms. I made Blondies for friends, family and myself prior to starting my business and after encouragement that they were good enough to sell I came up with the three initial flavours; White Kinder Bueno, Nutella, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Once I had been inspected by the local authorities and was given my five star food hygiene rating I set up the Facebook and Instagram pages and started to accept orders. At first it was mostly friends and family ordering from me but over the coming months I started receiving orders from a wider range of people. It was after a few months that I started being approached by cafes enquiring about selling to them on a wholesale basis.

Juggling parenthood and Blondie Baker has become a bit of a struggle as the business grew, it was easy to fulfil ten orders a week but as I started to get invitations to join various artisan markets I found that I needed a good eight to ten hours to concentrate on making hundreds of Blondies the day prior. Fortunately I have an extremely helpful and supportive Mum and Dad who always help with childcare when I need to take a day to bake. Having a partner who is a restaurateur means that his work pattern is sporadic, however during lockdown he was a great source of support often making hundreds of boxes up after he had done the bedtime routine whilst I baked every evening. The original three flavours are still some of the best sellers, however as the orders increased so did my confidence in experimenting with new flavours. I draw inspiration from things I like to eat myself, for example my favourite biscuits are custards creams so I always wanted to try and come up with a flavour that incorporated them. Currently the business is performing far beyond anything I could have dreamed. At the moment I am trying to juggle parenting and baking whilst constantly fighting with the dreaded mum guilt I feel most days. Hopefully as the months go on I can continue to deliver a personal bespoke service to all of my growing customers and introduce Teesside and further to my delicious Blondies.
