IN DINING

GOSSIP

Trends aren’t just reserved for fashion and home interiors, the food world is always changing to keep up with demands and new tastes. Here are the most popular and upcoming culinary advances in 2020.

Plant based food products are on the rise, ranging from soya based sausages through to almond milk. However these foods aren’t reserved for vegetarians and vegans, plenty of meat eaters are opting for plant based foods as a healthier alternative, benefiting from getting their five a day and reducing their saturated fat intake. These healthier options used to only be available in health food stores whereas now you can find them on supermarket shelves and on cafe menus, they have never been more accessible.

Low volume or alcohol free beverages have had a rapid rise in sales, with drinks ranging from 0% to 3% being the most popular.

This is due to the people wanting to enjoy their favourite drinks without the side effects of alcohol. Pubs are now offering alcohol free beer, wine and even cocktails so that the designated driver can still take part in having a pint with their friends whilst still being sober. You can enjoy your favourite drinks without the downtime and limitations.

Restaurants have had to accommodate for a different style of service. People are wanting a more sociable experience from their meal. Large individual meals are being replaced with small plates and sharing platters. Instead of each person getting their own meal, tables are being filled with a variety of dishes for you to put onto your plate and share with your friends. It is all about trying a multitude of flavours and textures.

2020 is all about making small changes to your diet to make you feel great.
