Literacki Sopot 2023 poświęcamy literaturze i kulturze

Niemiec, zdając sobie sprawę, że zapraszamy do niełatwej rozmowy. Skomplikowana historia naszego sąsiedztwa do dziś budzi wiele emocji i kontrowersji.

Liczymy jednak na to, że dobra literatura pomoże spojrzeć na polsko-niemieckie relacje z większym dystansem i zrozumieniem.

We dedicate Sopot by the Book 2023 to German literature and culture, realising that we are inviting a conversation that is not easy. The complicated history of our neighbourhood still arouses many emotions and controversies today. However, we hope that good literature will help to look at Polish-German relations with greater distance and understanding.

Jovana Reisinger

Urodziła się w 1989 roku w Monachium, gdzie mieszka do dziś; dorastała w Austrii. Jest pisarką, felietonistką, filmowczynią i artystką wizualną. Jej filmy krótkometrażowe były pokazywane na licznych festiwalach w Niemczech oraz m.in. w Pekinie. Jest laureatką nagrody Bayern 2-Wortspiele za debiutancką powieść Still halten (Tylko spokojnie, 2017). Za powieść Czempionki (Wydawnictwo Marpress, tłum. Zofia Sucharska) otrzymała nominację do Bawarskiej Nagrody Literackiej (2021).

Born in 1989 in Munich, where she still lives today, Jovana Reisinger grew up in Austria. She is a writer, columnist, filmmaker and visual artist. Her short films have been screened at numerous festivals in Germany, as well as Beijing and other places. She is the winner of the Bayern 2-Wortspiele award for her debut novel Still halten (2017). She was nominated for the Bayerischer Buchpreis Award (2021) for her novel Spitzenreiterinnen (translated into Polish by Zofia Sucharska).

Urodziła się w 1943 roku w St. Albans pod Londynem, gdzie jej rodzice byli uchodźcami. Jej matka była polską Żydówką i musiała uciekać, gdy nazistowskie Niemcy zajęły Austrię w 1938 roku. Po dziesięciu latach na wygnaniu jej rodzice wrócili do Austrii z dwójką dzieci. Erica Fischer dorastała w Wiedniu, studiowała tłumaczenia pisemne i ustne na Uniwersytecie Wiedeńskim, a w 1972 roku została jedną z założycielek austriackiego ruchu kobiet. Oprócz pracy dziennikarskiej, przez wiele lat była zaangażowana w ruch feministyczny jako aktywistka, organizatorka, pisarka i mówczyni publiczna. Napisała ponad dwadzieścia książek, z których większość skupia się na problemach kobiet. W 1994 roku opublikowała książkę Aimée & Jaguar opartą na prawdziwej historii miłosnej dwóch kobiet, z których jedna – Felice Schragenheim – była Żydówką ukrywającą się w Berlinie, a druga – Elisabeth Wust – początkowo popierała reżim nazistowski. Książka została przetłumaczona na 20 języków, a w 1999 roku na jej podstawie nakręcono fi lm. Przekład na język polski autorstwa Katarzyny Weintraub ukazał się nakładem Wydawnictwa Czarne w 2008 roku. Dwie inne książki autorki zostały przetłumaczone na język polski: Droga do nieba (2009) i Wybrałam wolność. Historia pewnej afgańskiej rodziny

(2010). W 2022 roku opublikowała autobiografię Spät lieben gelernt. Mein Leben, a w 2023 Die Welt vor Suzie Wong, książkę non-fiction opowiadającą skomplikowaną historię austriacko-koreańskiej rodziny. W 1988 roku Erica Fischer przeprowadziła się do Niemiec i od prawie trzydziestu lat mieszka w Berlinie. Jest żoną Włocha Massima Cortiniego. She was born in 1943 in St Albans, near London, where her parents were refugees. Her mother was a Polish Jew and had to flee when Nazi Germany occupied Austria in 1938. After ten years in exile, her parents returned to Austria with their two children. Erica Fischer grew up in Vienna, studied translation and interpreting at the University of Vienna, and in 1972 became one of the founders of the Austrian women's movement. In addition to her work as a journalist, she was involved in the feminist movement for many years as an activist, organiser, writer and public speaker. She has written more than twenty books, most of which deal with women's issues. In 1994, she published Aimée & Jaguar, based on a true love story of two women, one of whom, Felice Schragenheim, was a Jewish woman in hiding in Berlin and the other, Elisabeth Wust, initially supported the Nazi regime. The book has been translated into 20 languages and a film was made based on it in 1999. The Polish translation by Katarzyna Weintraub was published by Czarne publishing house in 2008. Two other books by the author were translated into Polish: Himmelstrasse (2009) and Ich wählte die Freiheit, Geschichte einer afghanischen Familie (2010). In 2022, she published the autobiography Spät lieben gelernt. Mein Leben; and in 2023, Die Welt vor Suzie Wong, a non-fiction book telling the complicated story of an Austrian-Korean family. Erica Fischer moved to Germany in 1988 and has lived in Berlin for almost thirty years. She is married to an Italian, Massimo Cortini.

Urodzona w 1974 roku, jest niemiecką pisarką mieszkającą obecnie w Poczdamie. Debiutowała w 2001 roku powieściami Offene Blende (dtv) i Unter Schnee (dtv). Od tamtej pory publikowała regularnie co kilka lat, wiele razy była nominowana do niemieckich nagród i nagradzana, a w 2021 roku zdobyła najważniejszą z nich, Deutscher Buchpreis, za powieść Blaue Frau (S. Fischer). Poza powieściami pisze także eseje, opowiadania i teksty non-fiction m.in. wydała książkę o Szwecji. Należy do pokolenia niemieckich pisarzy i pisarek, którzy urodzili się w NRD, ale zaczęli publikować po upadku Muru Berlińskiego. W swojej twórczości często porusza wątki z historii najnowszej oraz tematy związane z tożsamością i życiem osób LGBT. Strubel pracuje też jako tłumaczka – przekłada literaturę z angielskiego i szwedzkiego (tłumaczyła na niemiecki m.in. Joan Didion, Lenę Andersson, Monikę Fagerholm, Lusię

Berlin i Virginię Woolf). Jej powieść W lasach ludzkiego serca ukazała się na początku sierpnia tego roku nakładem Wydawnictwa Pauza w tłumaczeniu Agaty Teperek.

A German writer currently living in Potsdam, Antje Rávik Strubel made her debut in 2001 with the novels Offene Blende (dtv) and Snowed Under (dtv). Since then she has published regularly every few years, has been nominated for and awarded multiple German prizes, and in 2021 won the most prestigious German Book Prize for her novel Blaue Frau (S. Fischer). In addition to novels, she also writes essays, short stories and non-fiction texts and has published a book on Sweden. She belongs to a generation of German writers and novelists who were born in the East Germany, but started publishing after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Her work often explores themes from recent history and topics related to LGBT identity and life. Strubel also works as a literary translator from English and Swedish (she has translated Joan Didion, Lena Andersson, Monika Fagerholm, Lusia Berlin and Virginia Woolf, and many others, into German). Her novel Into the Woods of the Human Heart was published in Polish in August this year by Pauza publishing house, translated by Agata Teperek.

Urodziła się w 1965 roku we Frankfurcie nad Menem. Jest powieściopisarką i dziennikarką. W Polsce ukazały się jej książki: Pływak, Jasne dni, Najgorętsze lato (wyd. Czarne, tłum. Elżbieta Kalinowska). Za swoją twórczość otrzymała wiele prestiżowych nagród, m.in. Niemiecką Nagrodę Książkową, Nagrodę im. Bettiny von Arnim, Nagrodę im. Mary Cassens oraz Nagrodę im. Adalberta von Chamisso. Na początku sierpnia nakładem Wydawnictwa Czarne i w tłumaczeniu Elżbiety Kalinowskiej ukazał się polski przekład jej ostatniej powieści Śmierć przychodzi nawet latem

Zsuza Bánk was born in 1965 in Frankfurt am Main. She is a novelist and a journalist. Some of her novels have been published in Poland: The Swimmer, Die hellen Tage, Heißester Sommer (published by Czarne publishing house, translated by Elżbieta Kalinowska). She has received many prestigious awards for her work: the German Book Prize, the Bettina von Arnim Prize, the Mary Cassens Prize and the Adalbert von Chamisso Prize. At the beginning of August, the Polish translation of her latest novel, Sterben im Sommer, was published by Czarne publishing house and translated by Elżbieta Kalinowska.

Urodził się w 1973 roku i studiował projektowanie i animację w Hamburgu i Poczdamie. Mieszka w Berlinie. Pracuje jako storyboardzista i autor komiksów. Jest również wykładowcą na Uniwersytecie Filmowym Babelsberg, gdzie uczy tworzenia storyboardów. Jego druga powieść graficzna Der nasse Fisch (Złoty Berlin, tłum. Anna Kierejewska, wyd. Marginesy) oparta na powieści kryminalnej Volkera Kutschera stała się bestsellerem. W ostatnich latach rysował storyboardy do takich filmów jak Medicus , Królewska gra i Tár W przygotowaniu jest komiksowy sequel Złotego Berlina

Arne Jysch, born in 1973, studied communication design and animation in Hamburg and Potsdam. Based in Berlin, he works as a storyboard artist, comic artist and as lecturer for storyboard at the Film University Babelsberg. He has produced an award-winning short film, Der Beste. His second graphic novel Babylon Berlin based on the crime novel by Volker Kutscher became a bestseller. In recent years, he storyboarded for movies like The Physician, Chess Story and Tár. The comic book sequel to Babylon Berlin is in preparation.

Niemiecki dziennikarz i pisarz, studiował literaturę, historię i historię sztuki we Fryburgu, a doktorat ukończył w Berlinie. Przez wiele lat pracował jako niezależny dziennikarz i krytyk literacki dla „Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, następnie redaktor w „Berliner Zeitung”. W latach 2011–2021 pełnił funkcję honorowego profesora dziennikarstwa na Uniwersytecie Sztuk Pięknych w Berlinie. W 2019 roku zdobył nagrodę Targów Książki w Lipsku za książkę Czas wilka. Powojenne losy Niemców, która w Polsce ukazała się w tłumaczeniu Arkadiusza Żychlińskiego (Wydawnictwo Poznańskie). Pod koniec sierpnia 2023 roku ukaże się polski przekład Höhenrausch. Das kurze Leben zwischen den Kriegen (Rausz. Niemcy między wojnami, tłum. Monika Kilis, Wydawnictwo Poznańskie), w której pisze o czasach Republiki Weimarskiej. A German journalist and writer, Harald Jähner studied literature, history and art history in Freiburg and completed his doctorate in Berlin. For many years he worked as a freelance journalist and literary critic for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, then as editor at the Berliner Zeitung. From 2011 to 2021, he served as honorary professor of journalism at the Berlin University of the

Arts. In 2019, he won the Leipzig Book Fair Prize for his book Aftermath. Life in the Fallout of the Third Reich, 1945–1955, which was published in Poland in a translation by Arkadiusz Żychliński (Poznańskie publishing house). A Polish translation of Höhenrausch. Das kurze Leben zwischen den Kriegen, in which he writes about the time of the Weimar Republic, will be published in August 2023 (translated by Monika Kilis, Poznań publishing house).
