Award of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa for the empowerment of Bahraini women

Award of Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman AlKhalifa for Industrial Excellence

President’s Foreward It gives me great pleasure to wish everyone a happy year, full of goodness, security and prosperity for our beloved country and for all the Arab and Islamic nations. We shall this year put our hands together to work towards achieving further success, peace and prosperity. During 2015, while we won many awards and had several achievements to our credit, we also had the unfortunate passing away of our leader and captain, the late Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, the Company Chairman, who was not only the President of the Board of Directors but the Bahrain industry’s top personality. GPIC lost an able leader who spent his entire life and career in the service of the homeland and the people of Bahrain in general and all the associates of the company in particular. We ask Allah Almighty to bestow on him His mercy and His pleasure, and to grant him the best reward for all that he did for his homeland. His leadership and his career spared no effort in making sure the company and the people made progress. We will miss him a lot and continue to work on his approach and vision that led the company to achieve at all levels. The company will keep on marching ahead despite the great loss and will continue to work as a team, especially since we have recently had someone as capable as Dr. Ahmed Al Sharayan being appointed as the Chairman. He is rich in professional and personal leadership and a

competent and experienced professional and we ask Allah Almighty to help him be a worthy successor. The Company, despite this setback and in spite of the conditions, has been able to achieve the highest monthly production rate in its history. This, in itself, is one of the greatest achievements, particularly because of the huge decline in oil prices around the world. GPIC also did not stop playing its role at the global level and took part in the UN Committee on Food Security meeting as well as received International Fertiliser Industry Association Secretary General Charlotte Hebebrand when she came to Bahrain while touring a number of industrial companies in Saudi Arabia. The visits proved very successful and provided an opportunity for an exchange of views with the leaders of the fertilizer industry in Saudi Arabia. The company also took part in the Responsible Care Conference in Dubai, where it reiterated its commitment to responsible care and commitment to the sustainability of the petrochemical sector. In 2016, we promise to continue efforts to support the petrochemical industry and the community, which has contributed to our success. We will maintain our principles and institutional values and, Allah willing, make ourselves more of a success.
