Message from The General Manager GPIC is a firm believer that continual improvement in plant safety and reliability is the key distinguishing factor between success or average performance in the petrochemical and fertilizer industries. At GPIC we invest extensively in safety, occupational health, care for the environment and the reliability of our plant. Our average annual investment in these areas for the last five years has been around US$ 131.5 Million. This has enabled us to ensure that our complex at Sitra, which has now been in operation for over 24 years, looks newer than when we received it from the project company in 1985.

These organizations produce more than 170 million tons of fertilizers annually for use in agriculture that provide food for more than one third of the world’s population. IFA aims to bring togt gether its members to meet and discuss the variot ous affairs of the Fertilit izer Industry as well as the variables that may cast a shadow over the balance of supply and demand, in order to bring about a unift fied vision of an integrated service of this vital industt try.

As part of its support and assistance to Bahraini society, GPIC provides all possible support for inJAz to promote its activities. Headed by HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, inJAz enables Bahraini youth to exchange experiences with both private and public sectors with the aim of achieving leading jobs in the future. In his speech during the closing ceremony of the inJAz Second Annual Student Contest, held at the GPIC Club on 28 April, GPIC General Manager, Mr. Abdulrahman Jawahery praised the significant role played by inJAz. He stated that this nonprofit establishment inst spires young people and
encourages them to keep abreast of development in order to gain all the necesst sary skills needed for the labour market. It also foct cuses on educating them for future careers and oppt portunities available in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In his speech at the end of the contest, sponsored by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, GPIC and Milad Marketing & Promotions, the General Manager voiced his apprect ciation to those who work for inJAz and particularly to HH Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Executt tive Director, for their sinct cere and tireless efforts to assist and support Bahraini youth at this crucial stage of their lives, helping them to take the right decisions www.gpic.com

dance with the directives of H.E. Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Advisor to H.H. the Prime Minister for Industry and Oil Affairs and Chairman of GPIC. It is noteworthy that this competition is the last stage of a programme set by inJAz in which the students establish their own company, select the Board of Directors, collt lect capital stock, finance and market a product or a service of their selection and finally go through the process of breaking up the company. This final stage also includes providing a comprehensive report concerning the company’s activities and pinpointing the lessons learned during
their m a n a g e tm ment of the various company departments. Through this progt gramme, students reprt resenting 8 secondary schools and the University of Bahrain will acquire a wide range of experience of the actual world of busint ness. They will encounter several challenges faced by real companies and they
will have the chance to preset ent their products, servt vices and their company’s results to a number of business experts. GPIC is keen to contt tribute to such ambitious programmes, which aim at preparing the younger generation for leadership and promising jobs follt lowing their graduation from universities.
