Since its February, this is my second to last newsletter and I’m only about a month away from my term coming to a close. CONGRATULATIONS to Caitlin Turley, she was elected to be the incoming Lieutenant Governor during the Election Rally! .
The next major event is District Convention. Please, please, PLEASE let me know how many people from your school are planning on going! Along with their names and shirt size! ..
If your club has not done anything for KCCP, please plan a project soon! I would really like to raise some money or awareness by the end of my Lieutenant Governor term. ..

Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program (KCCP) Inspiration: In 1964 PNW Governor Frank Morehouse had the opportunity to work as a Medical Technologist at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford Oregon, where he met Penny, a 10 year old brain cancer patient. His relationship with Penny and her fatal condition is the inspiration for this PNW District Program. Governor Frank is dedicating his Governor’s Program to the memory of Penny to help change the future for children suffering from cancer, especially brain cancer.

The ELIMINATE Project Kiwanis International and UNICEF have joined forces to save the lives of babies and their mothers by eliminating maternal/neonatal tetanus (MNT), a disease that kills an estimated 60,000 newborns and a significant number of women each year.

MNT is easily prevented by a series of three vaccinations to women of childbearing age, costing roughly US$1.80. The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal/neonatal tetanus will raise US$110 million over the next five years to fill the funding gap required to provide an estimated 387 million doses of the vaccine. The Eliminate Project will deliver life saving vaccines to the most vulnerable women and children in the world: those in remote and difficult to reach areas; conflict zones; and with little access to healthcare.

March of Dimes
What is March of Dimes? An American charity established by Franklin D. Roosevelt to first fight polio. Now their mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
How to get involved
What is March for Babies? A walk to raise money to support community programs to help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies.
Contact local March of Dimes office for community projects and events. Join a walk for the March of Babies event. Organize a day to wear purple, the March of Dimes color. Election Rally Results
Recently in January, I held the Division 30 Lieutenant Governor Election Rally at the Sumner Library Meeting Room. It was nice to see almost every club attend and be a part of electing the incoming Lieutenant Governor.

The February Divisional Council Meeting will be in the Meeting Room at the Sumner Library in Sumner, WA. (1116 Fryar Ave Sumner, WA 98390) The DCM starts at 5:00pm on February 22nd, which is a Wednesday. All officers are expected to attend and we’ll be going over..
QUICK DCON UPDATE! Last year at the 2011 District Convention, Division 30 had 15 members and officers in attendance. HOWEVER, this year... we have 25! 10 more people than last year is a great accomplishment! Can’t wait to see you all at Convention!

This year’s theme is “Service on the Big Screen”. .
District Convention is a weekend when all of the Key Clubbers from all over the Pacific Northwest come together to celebrate a year of service. It will be a weekend of fun, workshops, inspirational speakers, service project ideas, officer training, and a dance! You will also get to meet people from all around the Pacific Northwest. .

2012 Service Fair
Every year at the Pacific Northwest DCON, we hold a Service Fair. .
It is when clubs from the Pacific Northwest and service organizations come together. At the Service Fair you can show off a special project or event that your club does or look at what other clubs are doing! .
The Service Fair registration is in Section A of the DCON Registration packets and is due on January 31st. .

Convention Overview
Friday Arrive on Friday in Divisional Shirt and other spirit gear for Friday General Session. Participate in icebreakers, meet new people, and have fun until General Session starts. After General Session, change into Business attire for Friday night Caucusing.
Sunday Pack up. Say goodbye to new friends. Head home. And add them on Facebook!
Saturday Attend workshops to learn something completely new! If you are a delegate, be in business attire for House of Delegates. Attend the Service Fair to see cool and fun projects other clubs are doing. Change into semi-formal attire for Saturday evening’s Governor’s Banquet and Ball.

DISTRICT CONVENTION REMINDERS! Send me a list of the people attending Convention from your Club! Please include : Name, phone number (for Convention updates), and shirt size (for Divisional shirt). Please submit this information as soon as you can so I can submit the shirt orders ASAP!! And you all submitted the medical forms by Feb. 15th, yes?
All officers and advisors should plan on attending.
Small and easy fundraisers Hold a miracle minute during you a club meeting and/or once a month. Collect spare change in a jar and count it at the end of a month. Hold an ice cream social or a handson meeting for KCCP to make trauma dolls.
On a bigger scale Work with Krispy Kreme or organize a car wash and explain KCCP while their car is washed. Work with your school and have an item drive for items to help Seattle Children’s.

Jelly Board What is this “Jelly Board”? It’s a scoreboard that I’ve started for our Division, all of the Clubs started with 0 points. By the end of the Key Club year, the winning Club will receive handmade trophy! The officers and members of that Club that attend my last DCM will also receive a prize!
