A young woman returned $300,000 in cash and checks to Fred Fenster, owner of Fenster Ford, after finding it in a manila envelope while biking on Friday. Laura Lynn Hardy, 19, was cycling to her home in Locust Valley after lunch when she found the money in front of Lincoln Federal Savings. When Hardy opened the envelope, she immediately phoned the bank. She then biked back to Lincoln Federal Savings, where Fenster and Xavier Mooney, president of Lincoln Federal Savings, thanked her and posed for photos. Fenster said, “She’s a great little girl, the kind of girl we in Lincoln should be proud of.” When commended for her actions, Hardy said, “It’s enough just to do the right thing.”
