The title of this issue is "New Year." You may be wondering why.

Well, I was thinking about how this month was the first of 2021, and how we're all hoping for something better than last year.

However, I wanted to encourage you to plan and really commit to your goals for the year, rather than simply hoping. A goal without a plan is just a dream! If you really want to make a change make it happen. Don't wait! Plan, believe, and achieve.

I know it's already been a tough past semester for most of you, but don't give up! Keep serving, keep caring, keep planning, and keep going! Stay dedicated as student volunteers and people.

2020's been hard for everyone, but this is it: our fresh start. I just wanted to let y'all know that you've done a great job so far, but stay hungry! Try to avoid burnout though ;) To the new year and your new goals!

KEEPING UP WITH K-FAM University of Houston Circle K! Did you know that the collegiate version of Key Club is called Circle K International? Did you know there's a club right here at University of Houston? Well there is!

They are very friendly and love to interact with other members of the K-Family, especially Key Club. Last year, they came to speak at our regional training conference, and my home club has had several great experiences with them.

Consider reaching out to see how you can collaborate with them on a service project, social, or any other event. It's a great opportunity for both you and your club!

By now, most of your clubs are set up and have started your club functions. I've already talked to most of you about club visits at my last few Meetings, but we've only had three club visits so far.

I highly encourage you to set a club visit date with me before the new year rolls around. I will most likely be doing virtual visits. Look forward to seeing you!

The Thirst Project Thirst Project is a nonprofit organization that works with the support of young people to END the global water crisis by building freshwater wells in developing communities that need safe, clean drinking water. Why Water? By providing a community with safe drinking water, disease rates can drop by up to 88% virtually overnight! Child mortality rates can drop up to 90%- overnight!

SERVICE PARTNERS

Members work together by sponsoring fundraising events and conducting service projects at their local children's hospitals. Contact your local CMN hospital and invite a representative to a club meeting to share ideas and create a partnership.

Since the 1940s, Key Clubs have worked with March of Dimes to make a positive impact in the lives of babies everywhere. Today, Kiwanis members continue that culture of service by supporting the March of Dimes all year long by hosting service projects, raising funds and educating communities about the crisis of preterm birth.

UNICEF is the only organization of the United Nations dedicated exclusively to children.

Working with other United Nations bodies, governments and nongovernmental organizations, UNICEF helps to provide for children’s needs in more than 150 developing countries through community-based services in primary health care, basic education and safe water and sanitation.
