Monthly Message Hey Division Three South!

Hope you had an enjoyable November!

The title of this issue is "Thankful." You may be wondering why.

Well, I was thinking about how everyone seems to think that 2020 offers nothing much to be thankful about. It was a pretty crazy year; I still feel like we're in March and COVID-19 has affected us in all sorts of ways. But, then it occurred to me that we always have something to be thankful for. We are alive, have opportunities, and have foundations on which to build our lives.

KEEPING UP WITH K-FAM University of Houston Circle K! Did you know that the collegiate version of Key Club is called Circle K International? Did you know there's a club right here at University of Houston? Well there is!

They are very friendly and love to interact with other members of the K-Family, especially Key Club. Last year, they came to speak at our regional training conference, and my home club has had several great experiences with them.

Website Club Info Form At my DCM, I showed the attendees a part of the divisional website that hasn't been completed yet. You can view that section is called, "Get to Know The Clubs in Our Division."

In essence, the section would serve as a hub for inter-club collaboration. The section will have one email/contact for each club and a picture.

Top Tips for this Section My hope is that, this way, club officers will be able to contact each other for any cooperative service projects they may want to work on.

I'll be sending out a google form to collect this information some time soon. I'll aim to update the site with this information by the end of the month as well.

Club Visit Form

By now, most of your clubs are set up and have started your club functions. I've already talked to most of you about club visits at my last two DCMs, but I still only have responses from two clubs.

I highly encourage you to set a club visit date with me before the new year rolls around. I will most likely be doing virtual visits. Look forward to seeing you!

The Thirst Project Thirst Project is a nonprofit organization that works with the support of young people to END the global water crisis by building freshwater wells in developing communities that need safe, clean drinking water. Why Water? By providing a community with safe drinking water, disease rates can drop by up to 88% virtually overnight! Child mortality rates can drop up to 90%- overnight!

SERVICE PARTNERS

Members work together by sponsoring fundraising events and conducting service projects at their local children's hospitals. Contact your local CMN hospital and invite a representative to a club meeting to share ideas and create a partnership.

Since the 1940s, Key Clubs have worked with March of Dimes to make a positive impact in the lives of babies everywhere. Today, Kiwanis members continue that culture of service by supporting the March of Dimes all year long by hosting service projects, raising funds and educating communities about the crisis of preterm birth.

UNICEF is the only organization of the United Nations dedicated exclusively to children.

Working with other United Nations bodies, governments and nongovernmental organizations, UNICEF helps to provide for children’s needs in more than 150 developing countries through community-based services in primary health care, basic education and safe water and sanitation.
