Sir Zelman Cowen, Patron of the Graduate Union Building Appeal, officially launched the Appeal at Graduate House on Monday 30 June 2003.
There was such a convivial atmosphere in Graduate House that the party was slow to finish, some members staying to enjoy dinner in the dining room and further conversation with friends and staff of Graduate House.

A group of over seventy Graduate Union members, present Councillors, former Presidents and Chairmen, representatives from The University of Melbourne and other dignitaries gathered in the Library and Anderson Room for drinks and savories and to view the plans of the new development which were on display. The proceedings opened with a welcoming speech by Secretary-Warden Eugene Spanti, in which he talked of his vision for ‘The New Graduate House’ and thanked the gathering for their attendance. Chairman of Graduate Council, David Bellair then spoke about the Stage 4 development of Graduate House, due to commence in October.
