WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH
”Honoring Trailblazing Women in Labor and Business”
During the month of March the library recognizes prominent women in American business and labor. In 2016, only 21 companies or 4.2% of the Fortune 500 companies had women CEOs and only 14% of the top five leadership positions of the companies were female. Find out some of the obstacles well-known business women have faced. Get tips and advice from some of the authors of books on display at the library, like Resha Saujani, founder of “Girls Who Code” or Nina DiSesa, chairwoman of the advertising agency McCann Erickson New York. Not just for women. We’ll have plenty of items on hand that will interest both men and women. Make it your business this month to check out something new at the library.

NUREMBERG GETAWAY MARCH 17-19
Nuremberg is a perfect weekend away from Garmisch: fairly close, still in Bavaria, inexpensive by comparison with many other places and has many varied attractions. Kaiserburg, the main castle of the Holy Roman Empire, sits on top of the central hill within the city walls. Richard Wagner chose this city as the scene for his operatic drama “The Mastersingers of Nuremberg.” Adolf Hitler appreciated the historic credentials and made it the background for his largest propaganda rallies during the Third Reich. The allies appreciated the same historical value as the perfect venue to press charges against some of those same personages at the famous “Nuremberg Trials” following World War II. The Nuremberg Documentation Center is one of the most thorough museums on the history of the Nazis. From the development of arts and clothing to medicine and instruments, the German National Museum offers a wide variety of exhibits on the history of the German-speaking region. Hotel accommodations, breakfast and transportation included. Price: $250/adult; Single supplement $45/night; $125/child
